Patna: Rajya Sabha member and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president,
Upendra Kushwaha
, while addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur on Sunday expressed annoyance over media speculations about offer of "four-five seats" to his party under the seat-sharing formula, stating that "his politics is for change, not for posts".
He said he would continue raising issues concerning the common people, no matter how many troubles come his way. His rally is being billed as a "show of strength" to bargain for more seats as the NDA gets busy with finalising the seat-sharing.
Addressing the "Samvaidhanik Adhikar-Parisiman Sudhar" rally, Kushwaha said he never cared about seats since he enjoys the "people's power". "Four-five seats…Upendra Kushwaha kabhi iski chinta nahin karta hai (I never worry about it)," Kushwaha said, adding, for him issues are more important and that he would continue raising them come what may.
He said if compromising with people's issues leads to a post, it is better to remain without such a post.
Citing examples, Kushwaha, who served as a Union minister of state during the first term of PM Narendra Modi, said Mahatma Gandhi, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Jayaprakash Narayan could have got any post, but they gave first priority to the people's issues. "Main pad nahin, parivartan ke liye rajniti karta hun (My politics is for change, not for any posts)," he said, alleging that the "seat issue" was being deliberately raised to divert the people's attention from the core issues.

Strongly advocating for delimitation, he said the lack of this exercise was causing a great loss to the state. "If the delimitation process was carried out on time, the number of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar would have gone up to 60, leading to increased representation of scheduled castes and women, but this has been hanging fire," Kushwaha said, warning of launching an agitation against "gross injustice" to the state.
He also raised concern over the collegium system in the judiciary, describing it as an "unjust process".
He demanded that the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court and high courts be made through a written test, quite like the recruitment process available for the bureaucrats in the country.

Survey for Mizoram-Myanmar rly route done: MP

1 2 Aizawl: Mizoram's lone Rajya Sabha MP, K Vanlalvena, has announced the completion of a preliminary survey for the proposed extension of the railway line from Sairang/Sihhmui, on the outskirts of Aizawl, to Zorinpui near the Myanmar border in southern Mizoram. Vanlalvena met Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi on Thursday to reiterate his long-standing request for a railway link to Myanmar under the Centre's 'Act East Policy' aimed at boosting trade connectivity with Southeast Asia. "Aizawl-Zorinpui rail link will serve as a parallel corridor to the ongoing Kaladan multi-modal transit transport project, which seeks to connect Mizoram with the Sittwe Port in Myanmar's Rakhine state through both highway and inland waterway routes," he said. The project envisions linking Kolkata to Mizoram via the Sittwe Port by a 539-km sea route across the Bay of Bengal. While the survey for the proposed line has been completed, the route alignment is yet to be finalised. Vanlalvena said the railway minister told him the inauguration date for the 51.38-km Bairabi-Sairang new line is yet to be finalised, pending some technical inspections. However, northeast frontier railway (NFR) officials confirmed that the line is likely to be inaugurated before July 31. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! The Bairabi-Sairang line recently underwent safety inspection by the commissioner of railway safety on June 10. Final approval of the report is awaited from the ministry of railways. A speed trial using a special diesel locomotive inspection train has also been completed. The 51.38-km railway project is regarded as an engineering feat. It comprises 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 minor bridges. The combined tunnel length stands at 12,853 meters. Notably, bridge number 196 stands 104 meters tall — 42 meters higher than the Qutub Minar. The project also features five road over bridges and six road under bridges, and is divided into four segments: Bairabi-Hortoki, Hortoki-Kawnpui, Kawnpui-Mualkhang, and Mualkhang-Sairang.

Prayers pour in for Shibu's health, 2 mins head to Delhi

Ranchi: Two ministers — Irfan Ansari (health) and Sanjay Yadav (industries) — left for Delhi on Friday to oversee the health condition of JMM patriarch and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren, who is currently admitted in Gangaram Hospital for the last few days. CM Hemant Soren, his MLA wife Kalpana and other family members continued to camp in Delhi. Several high-profile people like President Droupadi Murmu and Jharkhand governor Santosh Gangwar among others visited the hospital and checked on Shibu's health. Speaking for the first time on Friday since he left for Delhi, Hemant said, "Despite being Rath Yatra today, I am unable to offer prayers in person by visiting the Jagannath temple in Ranchi as I am away due to Guruji's ill health. However, I pray to Lord Jagannath for prosperity for everyone back home in my state." In Ranchi, both JMM and Congress workers, held special puja at the Jagannath temple for his quick recovery while party cadres also laid "chadar" at Risaldar Baba in Doranda in the evening to pray for his health. Taking to X, former chief minister Raghubar Das said he spoke to Hemant over Shibu's health and wished for his speedy recovery. "Today, I have spoken to hon'ble CM Hemant Soren over Guruji's condition. I am told that he has suffered a slight paralytic attack. I wish to almighty that Guruji recovers soon and returns to Jharkhand to serve this state." Meanwhile, prayers continued to pour in for Shibu's recovery. JMM workers, holding Shibu's posters, turned up at the Jagannath temple to offer prayers for his well-being. JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said, "We learnt that his (Shibu) health is slightly critical but we are more than hopeful that Bhagwan Prabhu (Lord Jagarnnath) will bless the entire state by ensuring our beloved Guruji stay healthy." Addressing devotees during the Rath Yatra, senior Congress leader Alok Dubey appealed to the public to pray for Guruji's health.
