Brooke Hogan addresses backlash for missing Hulk Hogan's WWE tribute

Brooke Oleksy has spoken out following criticism for her absence at WWE's 'Monday Night Raw' tribute to her late father, wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who passed away on July 24 at age 71 after going into cardiac arrest. Addressing backlash from fans via her Instagram Stories, Brooke claimed she was never invited to the event, which included a 10-bell salute and a video tribute. '@wwe did not extend an invite,' the former reality star wrote on Wednesday. WWE has not commented on the claim, according to Page Six. -Instagram. In contrast, Brooke's younger brother, Nick Hogan, and his wife, Tana Lea, attended the emotional memorial. Both were seen wearing black and visibly mourning during the televised tribute. Nick also shared a heartfelt Instagram post, calling their late father his 'mentor' and 'best friend.' Brooke and Hulk Hogan—born Terry Gene Bollea—had reportedly been estranged in recent years. However, in a social media post shared Tuesday, Brooke insisted their connection remained strong despite personal distance. 'Our bond has never broken, not even in his final moments,' she wrote. 'When he left this earth, it felt like part of my spirit left with him.' Brooke's absence from the tribute comes amid ongoing family complexities. According to TMZ, she had requested to be removed from her father's will in 2023 due to trust issues with those in his inner circle. She reportedly wished to avoid financial entanglements following his death. Despite that, she is still expected to receive funds from a life insurance trust, which she plans to use for her children's education. Brooke, a former star of Hogan Knows Best, is now a mother to six-month-old twins, Oliver and Molly, with her husband Steven Olesky.

Joey Swoll quits social media after Hulk Hogan tribute sparks backlash and threats

Fitness influencer Joey Swoll has announced his departure from social media following intense backlash over a tribute video he posted after Hulk Hogan's recent death. On July 29, 2025, Swoll took to X to explain that he was "done with social media" after his loved ones—including his girlfriend, business partner, and sister—received threats in the aftermath of the controversy. Swoll's tribute, initially shared on TikTok, featured him dressed as the late WWE star for Halloween. However, fans criticized the post as tone-deaf due to Hogan's controversial past, including his use of racial slurs to describe his daughter's former boyfriend—an incident that led WWE to terminate his contract and toy maker Mattel to stop producing Hogan-related merchandise. The situation escalated during a livestream when viewers confronted Swoll about honoring Hogan despite his past behavior. Swoll defended his tribute, saying Hogan's good deeds should not be overshadowed by past mistakes. However, his use of the word "colored" during the discussion drew further criticism. He later posted an apology on Instagram, writing, 'I am sorry. I take full accountability as I too, am still learning and growing.' Swoll acknowledged that he became defensive and was unaware of the full extent of Hogan's past behavior. A lot of people upset with me calling me weak and a quitter or worse. They're not wrong and I deserve it but just so we're clear and you can walk a mile in my shoes. They sent messages telling me they know where I live and they were going to unalive me. That's fine I can handle… — Joey Swoll (@TheJoeySwoll) July 30, 2025 Despite the apology, the backlash intensified. Right-wing followers accused Swoll of caving to "leftist pressure," with some unfollowing him and others calling him 'weak' or a 'quitter.' Commentators like X user Matt Walsh mocked Swoll for 'thanking leftist trolls' and accused him of appeasing the 'woke mob.' Swoll, in a final post, stated that the threats made toward his inner circle pushed him over the edge. As of now, he has not made any additional public statements or clarified if he plans to return to social media.

Hulk Hogan's memoir rockets to No. 1 days after death

Hulk Hogan's 2009 memoir My Life Outside the Ring has made a dramatic return to bestseller lists following the wrestling icon's sudden death last week. The book, co-authored by Mark Dagostino, has become a must-read for fans eager to understand the man behind the bandana after he passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 71. Unlike his earlier autobiography, this memoir offers a surprisingly raw and candid glimpse into Hogan's private struggles. Known to millions as the face of professional wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s, Hogan, born Terry Bollea, details the collapse of his marriage, the emotional aftermath of his son Nick's near-fatal car crash, and his own battle with depression. It's a sobering departure from the theatrics of the wrestling ring, stripping away the larger-than-life persona that defined much of his career. In the book, Hogan shares how he nearly ended his life during one of the darkest chapters of his personal implosion. He also discusses the overwhelming pressure of maintaining his public image while silently battling mental health issues. Readers have described the memoir as deeply humanising, shedding light on the price of fame. Still, the pages are far from devoid of wrestling lore. Fans are treated to behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the golden era of the WWE, including feuds, friendships, and pivotal WrestleMania moments that helped shape the sport's global popularity. The timing of the book's resurgence has only fuelled emotional tributes pouring in from fans and fellow wrestlers alike. Many have turned to the memoir as both a farewell and a revelation, a chance to connect with the man they thought they knew. Now topping Amazon charts, My Life Outside the Ring has become more than just a book. It's become part of Hogan's final legacy.
