UNM duck pond to reopen soon
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the University of New Mexico's best attractions is almost ready to reopen. The university's duck pond has been under construction since November of last year to upgrade its aging infrastructure. Recently, they replaced the bridge and added a water filtration system. UNM to sell off almost 40 acres of land for new development 'The main purpose of this project is to increase accessibility and ease of maintenance for this pond. Previously, we had to drain it into the surrounding landscape; now we have a filter system that will clean the pond once a month, and we'll have the ability to drain it once a year,' said Michael Pierce, project manager. During the construction, the birds, turtles, and fish were relocated to the UNM golf course. Some of the ducks were taken there as well, but most were wild and are expected to return over time. The university will host a soft opening on August 8. The official grand opening will be in early September. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. To find the best walking pads you can get during these final hours of Prime Day sales, we leaned into our team's experience with reviewing fitness gear, including walking pads, and we also evaluated each model and deal before including it here. To pull together our picks, we looked at models offering a range of features, that were durable and reliable, that were compact and easy to move and that had great reviews. The coauthors of this story both have fitness backgrounds. Lindsay Boyers is the executive strategy editor of Forbes Vetted and a functional nutritionist who has tested both kitchen and fitness gear. Steven John is a tech and gear writer, runner and experienced fitness gear product tester and reviewer. We also leaned on the past research and testing of our Forbes Vetted gear editor, Cam Vigliotta, who oversees our gear and fitness coverage. We read through scores of reviews posted by verified buyers of these walking pads, flagging both repeated praise and any repeated criticism—and when the same issues seemed to pop up frequently, we dropped a walking pad from consideration. The sale price of each walking pad also played a final role in selecting the best deals. We researched the price history of every walking pad we were considering and only featured those products on which you could truly get a good Prime Day sale.
