Singh, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, also showered praise on Chandra Bhanu Gupta, who served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for three terms. "Chandra Bhanu Gupta ji started as a simple worker in the freedom movement and made a place in the hearts of millions of people through his sacrifice, commitment and leadership. Chandra Bhanu Gupta's life tells us that power does not mean only position or authority, but responsibility, sacrifice and protecting the interests of the public. "His life also gives us the message that there may be differences in politics, but there should not be animosity," he said.
Singh, who is also a former UP CM, said the postage stamp was not only a tribute to Chandra Bhanu Gupta, but also a tribute to his "high life values." "It is a message that service, simplicity and honesty have been important in Indian politics and will remain important in the future too," he said.
Singh said Chandra Bhanu Gupta's vision and agenda were never regional, always nationalistic. "Chandra Bhanu ji was not in power for very long (time). But in the short time he was in power, he gave priority to public welfare works. He was always known for his integrity," he said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday highlighted the significance of the newly inaugurated BrahMos Aerospace integration and testing facility in Lucknow, calling it a major step toward strengthening India's self-reliance in the defence sector.
"Just a few days ago, I inaugurated the integration and testing facility of BrahMos Aerospace in Lucknow. This facility will strengthen our country's self-reliance in the defence sector and also create employment," Singh said at a public event in Lucknow.
Singh commended Uttar Pradesh for the improved law and order situation, which he said is encouraging investments and industrial growth. "Historical changes are taking place in infrastructure. Expressway, airport, metro, medical college—all these are presenting a new picture of development," the Defence minister added.
Singh also unveiled a statue of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Bhanu Gupta and also released a commemorative postage stamp in his honour. He praised Gupta's contributions to public life and his enduring legacy.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot questioned the Home Minister over the alleged delay in Udaipur's Kanhaiya Lal case, pointing out that his government caught the culprits within four hours but the case is still pending even after three years. 'When will the family of the late Mr Kanhaiya Lal get justice? I want to ask Amit Shah ji, you have come to Rajasthan, you are welcome, but at least in today's meetings, give an answer to the people of the state, why hasn't this incident resulted in punishment for those people yet, why hasn't there been punishment till now? Karnataka govt. writes to Meta on ‘incorrect auto-translations'
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's media advisor has written to tech giant Meta flagging faulty auto-translation of Kannada content on Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram. 'We have noted with concern that the auto-translation from Kannada to English is frequently inaccurate, and, in some cases, grossly misleading. This poses a significant risk, especially when public communications, official statements, or important messages from the Chief Minister and the government are incorrectly translated,' read the letter, which further noted that it can lead to misinterpretation among users. Terming flawed translation as 'unacceptable', the letter, written by K.V. Prabhakar, media advisor to the Chief Minister, urged Meta to temporarily suspend the auto-translation feature for Kannada content until the translation accuracy is reliably improved. It has also called on the platform to collaborate with qualified Kannada language experts and linguistic professionals to enhance the quality and contextual accuracy of translations between Kannada and English. 'Social media platforms must act responsibly. I caution citizens to be aware that translations shown are often inaccurate. Such negligence by tech giants can harm public understanding and trust,' Mr. Siddaramaiah wrote on X. Training important While the State government's letter comes closely on the heels of the mistranslation of a Facebook post by the Chief Minister on the demise of actress B. Saroja Devi, faulty auto-translation of regional Indian languages to English has been a persisting concern. Srinath Srinivasa, who heads the Web Science lab and is the Dean (R&D) at IIIT Bangalore, speaking to The Hindu, said that the availability of good quality and large enough corpuses to train language models is vital for translation. 'Most of the corpuses are based on literary - not colloquial - versions of the language. This is called diglossia. In Natural Language Processing community, languages such as Kannada are known as low resource languages - not because there is less literature in the language, but there is less trainable literature. It is a major problem in most Indian languages,' he noted. Nirlendu Saha, who works as an AI Engineer with a global MNC, said the accuracy of translation varies highly across languages, with Spanish and French faring better than Asian languages like Kannada, Tamil, Mandarin, and Korean. 'While artificial intelligence has made significant strides in simplifying auto-translations, it's crucial to acknowledge its limitations at this point. Until we have more comprehensive training data, we can't expect perfection. Models need to be trained in the digital literature of Kannada,' he said. Unreliable platforms? Meanwhile, experts also expressed concern about government officials using platforms, which are prone to error, for official communication. Chandan Gowda, professor and dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Vidyashilp University, noted that while the government is well within its right to complain about being mistranslated, there remains the question of why it is relying on a translation instrument it is unsure of. 'The large official machinery of the country should take safeguards in communicating to the public, like using images of messages, which don't run the risk of being poorly translated, instead of text messages. The Meta platform ought to have been responsible and cautioned the government about the risks of distortion in its translation and offered the option of turning it off,' he said. CISF trains with Army as security at Parliament; other critical installations enhanced post Operation Sindoor
In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the Union Home Ministry (MHA) has enhanced security at vital installations across the country, including the Parliament building and nuclear plants. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the Parliament building are being trained with the Army to combat terrorist strikes, drone attacks and internal sabotage, a CISF official said on Thursday (July 17, 2025). Their weapons will be upgraded in the coming days too, the official said. The training module of canine squads is also being changed. The CISF took over Parliament security in June 2024 following a security breach in the new Parliament building on December 13, 2023. It replaced the Delhi Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The monsoon session of Parliament begins on July 21. The official said that the joint-training exercises with the Indian Army are to make the CISF 'battle-ready' against unconventional and hybrid threats. 'The training with the Army will prepare the CISF personnel to respond swiftly to crises at high-risk installations such as airports, nuclear facilities, government buildings, and Parliament. The emphasis is on handling complex, high-pressure scenarios such as drone incursions, coordinated terrorist attacks, insider threats, and sabotage operations with speed, precision, and calm,' the official said. Critical installations surveyed In response to the April 22 terror attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), in which 26 civilians were killed, India launched military strikes on nine terrorist camps and terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan launched drone attacks at several vital installations in India, including airports and power plants, particularly in J&K and Punjab. As part of the efforts to secure critical installations, the National Security Guard (NSG) also surveyed 17 religious sites, 21 nuclear installations and 14 sensitive locations recently. Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security of such installations after Operation Sindoor and directed the CISF to train its personnel in the wake of emerging threats from Pakistan, the official said. 'For the first time, the CISF is conducting training at Indian Army formations in the Kashmir Valley. Previously, only a limited number of CISF personnel were allotted seats for such exercises. The goal is to equip the personnel to handle contingencies such as armed infiltration, sabotage, and multi-pronged terror strikes in both urban and rural environments,' the official said. The personnel selected for the high-intensity training are part of CISF's Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs)—the first responders to emergencies. 'Only those under 35 years of age and who have passed the Battle Physical Efficiency Test (BPET) aligned with National Security Guard (NSG) standards are eligible,' said the official.
