Jorge Vilda: Morocco's Women's Team Fully Ready for WAFCON
The tournament will take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
'The team's morale is very high, and the players are excited to begin the competition. We've prepared well for these matches, and the group is very cohesive. There's a great atmosphere within the squad,' Vilda said.
The national coach acknowledged the challenges ahead as Morocco's women's team falls into Group A, which includes Senegal, Zambia, and the DRC.
While conceding that the group is the toughest of the three in this WAFCON, he said he is confident that the Lionesses will deliver and receive support from a large crowd at home.
He also expressed satisfaction with the current level of the team, which he says has progressed significantly as a result of consistent hard work.
'Our first match will be against Zambia, a team that has made a lot of progress in recent years and whose players compete in top leagues, such as Racheal Kundanaji, Hellen Chanda, and Barbara Banda.'
'They're tough opponents, but we have the necessary tools to counter them,' he said, noting that his squad is ready and excited to start the tournament.
Team captain Ghizlane Chebbak also stressed the players' readiness for the competition, noting that the Atlas Lionesses are focused on the opening match against Zambia.
'I hope we'll be 100% ready and focused for it,' she said.
Morocco's game against Zambia will take place on Saturday at 9 p.m. Moroccan time.
The tournament groups are Group B with Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana, and Group C with South Africa, Ghana, Mali, and Zambia. Tags: Futsal WAFCONWAFCON

Hamdallah to Join Bounou in Al Hilal on Emergency Loan for FIFA Club World Cup
Rabat — Saudi club Al Shabab has agreed to loan Moroccan international Abderrazak Hamdallah to Al Hilal during the special transfer window for teams participating in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, currently taking place in the US. The club confirmed that the 34-year-old striker will join the team's training sessions in the coming hours. The team prepares to face Brazilian side Fluminense in the tournament's quarterfinal match scheduled for Friday. The Saudi Football Federation announced it moved up the summer registration period to July 3 instead of the original July 20 date. The window will now run until September 10. This change responds to Al Hilal's official request to advance the registration period, with the club aiming to register Hamdallah and another defender from the Saudi Pro League for their Club World Cup squad. FIFA's Club World Cup regulations, specifically Article 24, Paragraph 3, allow teams to make up to six changes to their registered squads. These changes can include players whose contracts have expired or players the clubs want to remove from their lists. Al Hilal previously submitted an initial squad of 35 players to the tournament's organizing committee, but the timing of this change aligns with FIFA's deadline, which ends on July 3. Al-Hilal faces a string of injuries among key players, with Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic remaining out with a leg muscle injury. Meanwhile, Captain Salem Al Dawsari suffered a hamstring injury after the match against Mexican side Pachuca. Defender Hassan Tambakti picked up a knee contusion, while left-back Yasser Al Shahrani is not match-ready. The loan signing gives Al Hilal additional attacking options as they pursue their Club World Cup campaign. Hamdallah brings extensive experience from his time in Saudi football and international competitions with Morocco's national team, joining his compatriot Yassine Bounou, who delivered an impressive performance during Al Hilal's game against Manchester City. The Saudi club knocked out Man City of the Club World Cup in a 4-3 extra-time win in Orlando, Florida. Tags: Al HilalFIFA Culb World CupFootball

Morocco deploys Zoomlion heavy-lift crane for Rabat World Cup stadium, Benslimane up next
Zoomlion's flagship crawler crane, the ZCC9800W, is currently being used for critical hoisting operations at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which is under construction. Designed for large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, the crane is «delivering high-precision lifts of steel components weighing hundreds of tons, operating with efficiency and stability on site», Zoomlion said in a press release on Wednesday. Following the completion of work in Rabat, the ZCC9800W will be transferred to the construction site of the Grand Stade Hassan II in Benslimane, Morocco, which is set to become the largest football stadium in the world and host the upcoming 2030 World Cup. Zoomlion also highlighted the crane's proven performance in demanding environments, including «wind turbine installations in Inner Mongolia under –40°C conditions and petrochemical projects in Vietnam facing wind speeds over 8 m/s». «The crane's performance in Morocco marks a key milestone in Zoomlion's continued advancement in the high-tonnage crane segment», the press release added. For the record, the ZCC9800W is one of several heavy-duty cranes ordered by Eurogrues Maroc, a leading Moroccan industrial lifting company, from Zoomlion this year. The fleet also includes the Zoomlion ZCC17000—Africa's first 1,250-ton crawler crane—along with the ZAT9000V (900 t) mobile crane, ZAT5000V (500 t) mobile crane, ZAT1600V (160 t) mobile crane, and ZRT900V (90 t) all-terrain crane. The acquisition comes as Morocco accelerates preparations for the 2030 World Cup, with the new equipment set to support major infrastructure projects across the energy, transport, and sports sectors.
