‘I loved it' – Boxer Savannah Marshall not giving up on MMA despite having to drop down to beginners class with teens
Marshall began boxing aged 12 and admitted boredom started to creep up after over 20 YEARS of rinse and repeat.

But last year, the boxing champion signed with the Professional Fighters League to make her debut in MMA.
And she did so with victory over Mirela Vargas in June 2024 after training alongside UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
But Marshall had to earn her stripes the hard way - which meant starting up with the other novices.
She told SunSport: "I absolutely loved it, it's brilliant.
"I was learning something new, I kind of got the spark back for it like competing again. I've boxed for 23 years now, so it's a long, long time.
"I felt like an absolute novice for the first time in a long time, having to go to a beginner MMA class with 15 year old kids."
After making her MMA debut, Marshall has been out of the ring since July 2023 when she beat Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
But now Marshall returns on Friday in New York as part of a historic all-women's card airing on Netflix.

Katie Taylor headlines in a trilogy bout against Amanda Serrano - as Marshall meets Shadasia Green in a bout years in the making.
Marshall said: "To be honest, me and Shadasia were meant to fight a while ago.
"It's been two or three times it's been close, we've been mentioned in the same conversation.
"So for it to follow an all female bill and not only that on Netflix, is massive.
"The numbers of Netflix pulls in beats Sky, TNT, it blows all those out of the water, so there's no bigger platform. I'm over the moon really."
Marshall became undisputed super-middleweight champ when she beat Crews-Dezurn.
Due to inactivity, Marshall, 34, only holds the IBF belt from her unified collection with opponent Green, 35, inheriting the WBO version.
So Marshall - now signed to Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotion - bids to win back the belt she never actually lost in the ring.
She said: "She's got my belt. It's not really hers, is it? She's not really a world champion because she didn't beat the champion.
"You can't really call yourself a world champion, you never boxed a champion."

'He leaves behind a legacy of selfless leadership, advocacy on behalf of underserved people, and a deep commitment to his community.'

Colt Keith's three hits lead Tigers to win over Rays
July 8 - Colt Keith had three extra-base hits, including a solo home run, and the host Detroit Tigers opened a week-long homestand with a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. Keith, who scored two runs, supplied two doubles as the American League-leading Tigers won their fourth straight. They were coming off a three-game road sweep of Cleveland. All-Star Javier Baez smashed a two-run homer while Zach McKinstry supplied a solo shot. Riley Greene added an RBI single. Winning pitcher Keider Montero (4-1), elevated from Triple-A Toledo earlier in the day, held the Rays to one run and four hits with four strikeouts in six innings. Tyler Holton, Brenan Hanifee and Will Vest each tossed an inning of scoreless relief. Tampa Bay starter Shane Baz (8-4) gave up three runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts in six innings. Jonathan Aranda had an RBI single. The Rays have lost six of their last eight contests. The Tigers stranded two runners in the first but the right-handed Baz couldn't prevent damage in the next inning. Dillon Dingler led off with a double. Two-time Stanley Cup winner Tyler Johnson announces retirement
July 8 - Tyler Johnson, who played 13 seasons in the NHL and won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning, announced his retirement on Monday. Johnson most recently suited up for the Boston Bruins, but the forward played only nine games in his lone season with them and contributed two assists. In 747 games with the Lightning (2012-21), Chicago Blackhawks (2021-24) and Bruins, Johnson racked up 433 points, tallying 193 goals and 240 assists. He burst onto the scene in 2013-14, his first full year in the league, when he totaled 50 points (24 goals, 26 assists) and was named to the NHL All-Rookie team. When the Lightning made a deep playoff run in 2014-15, Johnson led all NHL players with 13 goals and 23 points that postseason. He suffered a broken wrist during the Stanley Cup Final, which Tampa Bay lost to Chicago. Johnson provided some key scoring depth for the Lightning in the 2020 and 2021 playoffs.
