Big Country, Simple Minds and The Cult pay tribute to Mike Peters
The husband to Jules and father to sons Dylan and Evan, who supported U2 and Status Quo on tour and played with Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, died in the early hours of April 29 from blood cancer. He was first diagnosed with the blood cancer chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) more than 30 years ago, aged 36.
Mike, who was born in Prestatyn and lived in Dyserth, first rose to prominence in the early 1980s with The Alarm, with hits including 68 Guns and Strength.
He reformed The Alarm in 2000 and also worked as the singer for Big Country for a couple of years from 2011.
Big Country said: "Bruce, Sandra, Jamie and the band would like to send their heartfelt condolences to Jules, Dylan and Evan following the devastating news of Mike's passing. We are all deeply saddened."
Billy Duffy, from The Cult, a long-term friend of Mike's [Mike formed a band called Coloursound with the guitarist], said: 'I truly believe a light has gone out in the world today and I'm going to miss my brother from another mother.
"Mike was not only an inspiration to millions of people suffering from cancer but also an inspiration to me as he spread nothing but positivity in every situation.
'I can take some comfort from the fact that when the end came, he accepted it with his usual grace, and ended his days in this life in his beloved North Wales with his family and friends around him."
Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr penned a heartfelt tribute, making mention when he last saw the artist and his wife.
He said: "'To stay alive and appreciate every second you've got, it's what it's all about.'
"It was words to that effect Mike Peters said when he and his wife Jules sat with me and Charlie on our last visit to Wales last year.
"As always when in their company, so good it was just to sit and talk, we almost forgot that we were due on stage within minutes.
"But it was time to go to work and so they accompanied Simple Minds as we made our way from the dressing room to the steps leading to the stage, hugging and shaking hands as we were about to walk on. We had no idea then when we would next see each other, but hoped sooner rather than later?
"Some months later we were delighted to know that Mike Peters was due to join the line-up of acts performing at our Simple Minds, Bellahouston Park show in Glasgow, this coming June. I had also mentioned something about having him over to my house the night before the Glasgow event, no big deal just something to be arranged nearer the time.
"Over the next day you'll read a lot of comments describing Mike as a beautiful person, a Welsh hero, and so much more.
"All will be absolutely true. He was loved and admired by so many.
"On behalf of Simple Minds we send our condolences."

Look out for three rare £1 coins worth over £500
An expert explained how to spot these highly sought-after coins An expert has urged Brits to keep an eye out for three rare £1 coins that could be worth far more than their face value. Combined these pieces could fetch more than £500, In a video uploaded to social media platform TikTok, an expert known as the Coin Collecting Wizard explained how valuable these coins, which you could have at home, could be to collectors. Speaking to his more than 250,000 followers, he said: 'The valuable £1 coins you need to look out for. Pay attention to the details. The last one is unbelievable.' Firstly he explained that a specific pound coin from 2016 could be worth £60. The design of the coin is known as the 'nations of the crown' coin. On the reverse side of the coin (the tail side) you will see an English rose, Welsh leek, Scottish thistle, and Northern Irish shamrock emerging from crown. Ordinary versions of this coin are worth no more than £1. It is only rare and valuable if it bears a small symbol on the reverse side. He continued: 'This is a new pound coin from 2016. And what you need to look for is a small floral symbol at the bottom left of the coin just above the letter 'E'. 'Here is a better example so you can see it. If you find this, then it's rare as only 9,850 were minted. The next rare coin is also from 2016. He said: 'Next is an old round pound coin from 2016 with the shield design. 'Only 38,000 of these coins were minted, making it rare and worth around £30 today to collectors. Just remember the date needs to be 2016.' This was the last version of the old-style round £1 coins created in the UK before the introduction of the 12-sided coin. The final coin on his list is especially valuable, as it has been known to sell for around £500. This is another example of a nations of the crown design as mentioned above. While this coin is from 2016 there is a tiny error that mentions the year 2017. The expert added: 'But you will need a magnifying glass to find this error. 'Some of the 2016 coins were minted with the wrong micro engraving of 2017, making this super rare and valuable to coin collectors. So check around the edge of the coin for the date 2017. 'And if you find this error, then it has been known to sell for around £500.'

Chef names one ingredient that must be added to steak before cooking and it's not salt
Chef Mike Alfarah, who shares cooking videos on social media, decided to put a controversial hack to the test - and was pleasantly surprised by the results Steak is not a budget-friendly cut of meat. It's typically more expensive and indulgent, so we all want to ensure we're cooking it properly. Luckily, there are professional chefs who are happy to share their top tips and secrets. One such culinary expert is Mike Alfarah, known on Instagram as alfskitchen_. After learning about a revolutionary ingredient that can elevate steak to new heights, he decided to try it out himself. However, his novel method has sparked some debate online. The contentious ingredient is mayonnaise, which you should spread on the steak before searing it. READ MORE: Simple ingredient swap that makes fried eggs taste 10 times better The chef stated: "Even though I've heard of this hack a few times, I'm not really a mayo fan but in the name of steak science, it's only right we give it a try!" Mike then showed the steps involved in his steak preparation, which includes a liberal sprinkling of salt and placing the steak in a vacuum-sealed bag. As for the cooking, he immerses it into what he calls his 'meat Jacuzzi'. This refers to a sous vide or precision cooker, which circulates warm water around the vacuum-packed food and maintains a steady temperature. Using one can minimise the chance of overcooking the meat, reports the Express. After two hours in its 120 degree bath, the steak gets pulled out and patted dry before facing what purists might call sacrilege - getting smothered on both sides with a generous layer of mayonnaise, then seared in a scorching hot pan to achieve a perfect crust. The food enthusiast explained: "I'm pretty confident this is going to work really well because mayo is fat and that's the key to a good sear and you better believe I'm going to use that fat from the mayo [in the pan] to baste the steak as well. He continued: "From the looks of it, we have a pretty perfect sear and again I'm not surprised that this worked really well but I am really curious. Did it affect the taste?". Mike's hunch proved spot on - the steak was absolutely delicious. He revealed to his followers: "Not only did that give a perfect sear but it tastes incredible." Watchers were gobsmacked by Mike's bizarre method. One person wrote: "I would not use mayo.. no way on a good piece of meat", whilst another threatened to report the chef to Gordon Ramsay. Meanwhile, another doubter declared: "Steak cooked in water like that is disgusting in my opinion." Mike tackled the backlash directly, however. He informed the doubter that sous vide preparation is standard practice in top restaurants. Therefore, it's probable many of us have enjoyed a sous vide steak without knowing it. His clip did spark enthusiasm amongst some viewers. One fan declared: "Yes trying it. Works on chicken and grilled sandwiches, too!".
