Syrian Actress Diala Al-Wadi Killed in Home in Damascus
Rana Atef Syrian actress Diala Al-Wadi was killed in her home in Al-Malki, Damascus, Syria. The murder was described as a case of robbery. According to Syrian authorities and local activists, the crime occurred inside the actress's residence in one of the most heavily guarded areas of the capital. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the assailant broke into her home after following her, strangled her, and then stole her belongings, including money and jewelry, before fleeing the scene. Al-Wadi held British citizenship and came from a prominent musical family. Her father, Salhi Al-Wadi, was a pioneering figure in Syria's academic music scene and a founding member of the Higher Institute of Music and the Syrian Symphony Orchestra. Her mother, Cynthia, a British national and violinist, was a classmate of her father at the Royal Academy of Music in London during his studies between 1952 and 1960. Al-Wadi received the Syrian Order of Merit in 1995, the highest honor granted by the state, and is regarded as a foundational figure in the Syrian and Arab music scenes. Al-Wadi studied at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, graduating in 1986 alongside some of the most prominent names in Syrian drama, including Hatim Ali, Ghassan Massoud, Aref Al-Tawil, Maher Salibi, Dala Al-Rahbi, Mayada Deeb, Mahmoud Othman, and Fouad Hassan. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Mohamed Ramadan sends his touching condolences after death of worker during concert
Singer Mohamed Ramadan offered his condolences to the death of a worker at a concert on Thursday evening at the Porto Marina Theater in the North Coast. The concert, which drew a large audience, was cut short due to an unfortunate accident. An explosion occurred in one of the fire show cylinders, resulting in the death of a young worker and the injury of six other staff members. This led to the concert being cut short before its scheduled start. The singer offered his condolences to the family of worker Hossam Hassan, who died during the concert. He posted a video on his official Instagram account, saying, 'I offer my condolences to Hossam's family. May God grant them patience and heal the injured. May God have mercy on him and grant him a place in heaven.' Ramadan shared several photos of the concert, saying 'This concert, just as the audience enjoyed it, there was someone who passed away during it. So, every time I think of it, I'll pray for him and I hope you don't forget him and continue praying for him, asking God to have mercy on his soul.' He added, 'Of course, when I saw what had happened, I stopped the concert immediately, went down with the guests, and helped transport the injured. I thank the audience for their understanding of the situation.' Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm

Sharm El-Sheikh Int'l Theatre Festival for Youth to honour actress Elham Shaheen - Stage & Street - Arts & Culture
The Sharm El-Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY) will honour actress Elham Shaheen by naming its 10th edition after her. The festival's management has also released the poster of the upcoming edition, scheduled to take place between 25 and 30 November. The poster features Shaheen as its honorary artist. The SITFY, which is held annually, is the first festival of its kind to be organized in Sinai. The Sinai launch aims to provide opportunities for young theatre practitioners while decentralizing the artistic scene and reviving tourism in South Sinai. The SITFY was founded and headed by Mazen El-Gharabawy, with Engy El-Bestawy as its artistic director. Its 10th edition will also hold a special celebration for honouring late artist Samiha Ayoub, who passed away last June and was the festival's honorary president. Elham Shaheen Shaheen was born in Cairo in 1960 and graduated from the Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1982. She started her career with the help of director Kamal Yassin, who gave her a role in his TV play, Hooreya men Al Marikh (Mermaid from Mars). Her films include Al-Nemr wa Al-Ontha (The Tiger and The Woman, 1987); Bawabat Iblees (Satan's Gates, 1993); Afarit Al Asfalt (The Asphalt Demons, 1996); Wall of Heroism (1998); Mahrous, the Minister's Attaché (1999); I Love Cinema (2004), Bedoon Reqaba (Without Survilence, 2009); and Al Harami wa Al Abeet (The Thief and The Naive, 2013). Her TV series include Ayam Al Mounira (Al Mounira Days, 1994), Wanis' Daily Life (1994), The Game (1999), Devil's Tunnel (2008), The Fall of the Caliphate (2010), Malika fee al-Manfa (Queen in the Exile, 2010), and Heatwave (2013). Among Shaheen's latest films are Restart (2025), Mister Ex (2013), Hazr Tagaoul (Curfew, 2013), and TV series Hesbet Omry (Toil & Pursuit, 2025), Seed El-Nass (Master of the People, 2025), Alfrido (2025), and Be Tolooa Al-Rouh (Backbreaking, 2022). Over the past few years, Shaheen has received several awards and recognitions. In May 2024, she was appointed an honorary president of the second edition of the Eazees International Women's Theatre Festival. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
