
A.P. police to launch ‘Operation Trace' to identify missing and kidnapped girls from August 1
The aim of the programme is to trace girls and reunite them with their families. The Women and Child Safety Wing will conduct the operation in association with the IGPs, DIGs and Superintendents of Police (SPs) and other officers across the State, the DGP said.
Releasing the posters of Operation Trace, along with Additional DGP (Law and Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy and Women and Child Safety Wing head and IGP B. Raja Kumari, at the A.P. Police headquarters on Thursday, the DGP said that police will constitute task force teams and collect data in all districts from August 1 to 3.
The police officers will visit the shelter homes, enquire about the details of girls staying in NGO homes, verify their aadhaar cards, file FIRs, and speak with their family members.
From August 10 to 31, the police teams will launch 'Find Her' programme and conduct searches in bus and railway stations, shrines and other places. 'Instructions have been given on top priority for 'Operation Trace' to identify the missing and kidnapped girls and inquire about the status of the cases,' Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said.
Police will trace the girls in the border check-posts, use facial recognition and Mission Vatsalya portal, reconnect them with their families through Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), provide counselling through NGOs and necessary medical aid to them, the DGP said.
CID Women Protection Cell Superintendent of Police N. Sridevi Rao and other officers were alos present during the occasion.

Rai said the SUV was carrying 15 people, including the driver. With the help of villagers and rescue teams, 11 bodies were recovered from the submerged vehicle. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and an investigation into the incident has been initiated, officials added. Superintendent of Police, Vineet Jaiswal said those killed included six women, two men and three children. The victims were identified as Beena (35), Kajal (22), Mehak (12), Durgesh, Nandini, Ankit, Shubh, Sanju Verma, Anju, Anasuya and Saumya. The SP said four people, including the SUV driver, were rescued and sent to a hospital. Rahul Verma, a resident of Itiyathok and an eyewitness to the accident, said the road was slippery due to rain in the morning. The SUV was running on the road built next to the canal and when the driver applied the brakes it slipped and fell into the canal, he said. 'We immediately called the police and villagers to the spot and pulled out the SUV with the help of a rope,' he said. A teenage girl, who survived the accident, said, 'We were all going to visit Prithvinath temple. At the time of the incident, the women and girls were singing 'bhajans''. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the loss of lives in the accident and announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased.

Lucknow: At least 11 people were killed and several others injured after a vehicle carrying at least 14 people plunged into the Saryu canal in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district on Sunday, officials confirmed. Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said, "Eleven people travelling in a Bolero from Sihagaon of Motiganj police station area to offer prayers at the Prithvi Nath temple of Khargupur died when the vehicle fell into the canal and drowned." Eyewitnesses, who saw the vehicle sinking, immediately alerted the local police station, while others informed the village head (Gram Pradhan). Personnel from the ItiyaThok police station quickly reached the spot and, with the help of locals, retrieved the bodies of the victims, which included men, women, and children. SP Jaiswal also informed that four individuals were rescued from the canal with minor injuries and have been admitted to the District Hospital for medical care. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced ex gratia compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the victims. Taking to X, CM Yogi posted, "The loss of life in the unfortunate accident in the district of Gonda is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the grief-stricken families." "Instructions have been given to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of those who lost their lives in this accident, and to the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital for their proper treatment," he said.
