NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, May 25th

Looking for Saturday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here:
Welcome back to another Sunday Connections guide, dearest Connnectioneers. It's a lovely day, spring fully in bloom, and I remain on the road, traveling through the Scottish highlands, solving word puzzles in my downtime. Today's Connections is definitely a little tricky, so let's dive right in!
Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here.
The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there.
There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together.
You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles.
These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers.

Today's Bonus Clue: The purple group has a uniting word. Adding it to each of the words in this group will provide the Connection.
Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today:
The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are:

The yellow group today was incredibly easy – so easy, in fact, that I half-expected to get it wrong when I put all the playing cards together. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. The rest felt like a bit of a jumble today. LOBE made me think something had to do with ears, but I guess I don't know enough about ears or ear-piercings to put two and two together. Interestingly, I got the purple group next. ELECTRONIC almost threw me off, but of course that's just 'email' and we all still get plenty of JUNK mail even if we no longer wear CHAIN mail these days. Greens were pretty obvious now, with dead RINGER and CLONE obviously paired with DOUBLE and TWIN. The blues filled themselves in, and now I know that a ROOK isn't just a piece on a chess set. Huzzah!

King enjoys dram of whisky at Highland Games

The King enjoyed a dram of whisky and met competitors when he attended the Mey Highland Games in Caithness. Charles wore a traditional kilt and was pictured waving as he arrived at the games on Saturday. He was seen smiling as he sat down in a marquee, and his cousin, Lady Sarah Chatto, was sat behind him. The first Mey Games was held in the nearby village of Mey in 1970 to celebrate the late Queen Mother's 70th birthday. As guest of honour on the day, she declared the event a success and encouraged its organisers to make it an annual event.

BUG and CRICKET could easily go with BEETLE if there were one more insect in the list. And PARROT goes nicely with BIRD. But CRICKET is a sport, like GOLF and POLO and SQUASH. Had they included more vegetables it would have been trickier. And PARROT is a verb that means COPY or ECHO. Besides, The Beatles aren't spelled BEETLE so this is a little misleading in a not so great way. Still, this was pretty simple as far as Connections go. SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY – Our First FULL Look at Tom Holland's Amazing New Suit! — GeekTyrant

Spider-Man is back, and he's rocking a whole new vibe. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures just dropped the first full look at Tom Holland's latest Spider-suit for Spider-Man: Brand New Day in a new video, and it's sure to get fans excited! The suit made a brief appearance in yesterday's teaser, but now we've got the full reveal, and it's designed with a clear nod to the suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, this version brings together the designs of both Spidey worlds. There's the deep, matte red, the navy blue mesh texture reminiscent of Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , and the raised black webbing that channels the Raimi-era aesthetic. Right in the center, the spider emblem is larger and more angular, combining classic boldness with the sleek lines seen in Holland's earlier MCU appearances. The suit also looks like it's more homemade and there's no Stark tech. No gadgets, no AI, just Peter Parker doing it all on his own. It's a perfect reflection of where the character is now. As you know, Peter was stripped of his identity after the memory wipe in Spider-Man: No Way Home , and starting over without his former support system. Set photos have already started popping up online, with production kicking off in Glasgow, Scotland, once again subbing in for New York City. Keep your eyes peeled, because more glimpses of the new suit are sure to surface. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated for release on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. Returning writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are handling the script, which reportedly takes Peter back to being a street-level hero in NYC. The movie is said to be relatively standalone but is expected to set the stage for next December's massive crossover Avengers: Doomsday . The film's cast is stacked alongside Holland, featuring Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando. Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31, 2026. Check out the video below and let us know what you think of the new suit!
