Support for Eagles legend Jason Kelce continues despite recent criticism

Before another word is uttered or typed, here's perhaps one of the better ways to sum up the events of Jason Kelce's recent fundraiser and the support and the backlash that have followed. The G.O.A.T. is a Philadelphia Eagles icon. His standing among franchise legends has long been secure. He's also one of the most colorful personalities in the history of this great organization.
Perhaps you have heard. A Philadelphia sports legend climbed a lifeguard's chair and stripped down to star-spangled briefs. He did so as his grand entrance to an event created to raise money to combat autism. As you might imagine, that led to support and criticism. This story isn't being written to choose sides.
Sure, some might argue that there are other ways to support autism. It's a fair argument, one that wouldn't be difficult to find agreement with. Still, it's also fair to say that, though Kelce may not shy away from making people uncomfortable, he hasn't been the type of person to disrespect others intentionally.
Since last Wednesday's events, Kelce's actions have been criticized. He has also seen an outpouring of support for being uniquely himself and using his platform to help others. To be positive, here's an attempt to recognize a good guy for trying to do a good thing. Heartfelt thank yous have flooded the web and social media.
Are we crazy? We're having a hard time being enraged at him for this.
Take a poll, and most probably won't host a celebrity bartending event to raise money for charity. There is nothing wrong with being among the number who would elect to raise funds to battle autism in some other fashion. Still, Kelce has raised more than $1.4 million since 2021 for the same reason.
He found a way to connect with people who, otherwise, may not have supported a great cause. That may have been missed in some of the discussion.
He hasn't done anything illegal. He has used his platform to assist others and has done so unselfishly. If we're being fair, that must also be taken into consideration. That too must be commended.
