Real Madrid vs Juventus predictions
Now under the guidance of former Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid are embarking on a new era after four years under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite a talent-filled squad, Alonso faces the challenge of shaping Real in his own image. The team looked like a bunch of individual players at times last season - and it is now Alonso's job to transform them into a more cohesive unit.
Things didn't start great for Alonso, Real were held to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the competition. But in true Real style, they have bounced back well and are currently on a two-match winning streak.
Their improved run of form started with a 3-1 win over Pachuca. On paper, it looked like a routine win. The reality is, it was anything but routine - Real had to play over 80 minutes with ten men after Raúl Asencio was given a red card just seven minutes into the proceedings.
Los Blancos followed that up with a 3-0 win over RB Salzburg in their final group match. The win confirmed their place in the knockout stages and was by far Real's most complete performance of the competition.
Juventus started their FIFA Club World Cup with back-to-back wins over Al Ain and Wydad AC. Wins of 5-0 and 4-1 were impressive, and secured qualification for the Round of 16 after just two matches of the tournament.
The Old Lady faced Manchester City in their final group match - needing to avoid defeat to top the group on goal difference ahead of Pep Guardiola's team.
Juve were simply blown away. City won 5-2, with a whopping 77% possession and 24 shots on goal (11 on target). Juve could only manage five shots on goal, with two on target from their 23% of the possession.
It really was men against boys and doesn't bode well for Juve ahead of a knockout showdown with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid vs Juventus betting tips
Real Madrid are slowly building momentum. They are 5/1 to win the competition outright, and also 1/3 to qualify for the next round. Juve are outsiders at 33/1 to win the competition, and are also 12/5 to knock Madrid out and qualify for the quarter-finals. See if the Old Lady can do it in our match betting tips:
Real Madrid to win
Real Madrid are doing that thing that all top teams do, they are winning quietly without too much fuss and gradually growing into the competition.
All the attention was on PSG after they hammered Atletico Madrid 4-0 and then some of that focus shifted over to Manchester City after they thrashed Juventus 5-2.
While all this was going on, Real have been quietly going about their business, almost completely under the radar.
It would be no surprise to see Madrid reach the final and win this competition. They don't look as strong as PSG currently do, but as is often the case, they seem to find a way.
On the flip side, Juve look wounded. It will take some turnaround to bounce back from their loss to Man City. As a result, we can't see anything other than a win for Real.
Federico Valverde to score or assist
Federico Valverde continues to impress at the FIFA Club World Cup. Playing in a more advanced role under new boss Xabi Alonso, the Uruguayan has two goals in three matches.
The majority of the Madrid players are slowly adapting to Alonso's new system, but Valverde already seems to be flourishing in his new role.
You can get 11/2 on Valverdo to score anytime and 13/1 on him to score first. Such is his current form, he could be worth backing in either of those markets.
We're going for the safer option of a goal or an assist, in case he just has to settle for a goal involvement.
Over 2.5 goals and BTTS (yes)
We expect a win for Madrid, but we can see Juve pushing Los Blancos. The Italians have to react to the Manchester City defeat.
Both teams to score is an attractive looking 4/5 and we would be happy to tip that bet. But we can see Madrid scoring two or three against a Juve team that are still reeling from their Man City thrashing.

Jude Bellingham cruelly denied reunion with brother Jobe at Club World Cup

Both Jude and Jobe Bellingham are playing at the Club World Cup for Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund respectively but the two will not meet despite the club's playing each other in the next round Jude Bellingham has been robbed of the chance to play against brother Jobe at the Club World Cup after a FIFA ban. The two were expected to face off in the quarter-finals of the tournament, with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund beating Juventus and Monterrey respectively in the last 16. But Jobe - who signed for the Bundesliga giants from Sunderland earlier this summer - will not play in that game having picked up a booking in the German side's latest win. With two cautions now to his name, he will now serve an automatic suspension. ‌ Yellow cards are only wiped out after the quarter-finals of the competition. And Jobe was clearly gutted at the prospect of missing out on the next game and thus a reunion with his brother. ‌ But Dortmund boss Niko Kovac believes it is only a matter of time before the pair meet on the pitch. Speaking after the game, the Dortmund boss said: "I think we all saw that he [Jobe Bellingham] was very disappointed. I think he did not exactly know that the second yellow card is a suspension at half-time. He was a little bit surprised. "OK, he's young. His brother is also young so I'm convinced they will face each other, maybe next season in the Champions League and then the future. The future is for them. "The Club World Cup would be nice but now it isn't. Someone else must play for him but it's also okay." And while the pair won't get to play against each other for now, Jude has already revealed his ambitions to become teammates with his brother on the international stage. He said: 'Because we're of a similar age and we've played together for so long - in the street and on tufts of grass - to play with my brother for England... that would be the biggest dream of my life. "That would mean more than any of the trophies, especially if we managed to do it on a consistent basis and play at a major tournament together, win things together. Nothing would even get close to that." ‌ Jobe had so far made four appearances for Dortmund at the Club World Cup following his blockbuster move from Sunderland. And he managed to score his first goal for the club in a 4-3 win against Mamelodi Sundowns last month. Jude has also been on the scoresheet at the tournament, netting against Mexican side Pachuca in the group stage. Real Madrid star makes 'horrible' Trent Alexander-Arnold admission

Trent Alexander-Arnold produced his first assist for Real Madrid in their Club World Cup victory over Juventus and Thibaut Courtois was full of praise for the ex-Liverpool defender after the game Thibaut Courtois has admitted Trent Alexander-Arnold is "horrible" to face in training after he notched his first assist for Real Madrid. Alexander-Arnold assisted Gonzalo Garcia's winner with an excellent cross as Real Madrid beat Juventus 1-0 in the Club World Cup on Tuesday. And Courtois was not surprised to see the former Liverpool star delivering in a knockout match, with the goalkeeper praising his passing ability and revealing that he is a "nightmare" to go up against in training. ‌ "I think he could have already had a few in these four games," Courtois told DAZN after the game. "His pre-assist against Pachuca was also really good. In training he's horrible, his kicking is amazing. His free-kicks, his corner kicks are really on another level. ‌ "I don't think I saw some guy with his quality of kicking and crossing so as a goalkeeper sometimes it's a nightmare. But it keeps you on edge and keeps you working hard, trying to save them, to make him better and myself better." Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso also hailed Alexander-Arnold, branding him an "amazing player" but admitting he "needs time" to settle in. "Trent? I believe in him. He still needs time, but he's an amazing player," Alonso said. "Crossing is his trademark; he's done 500 of those. On the right, we sometimes need an extra foot. One-on-one dribbling isn't his thing. He comes to Madrid to compete; he's barely trained. Everything takes time." Alexander-Arnold has started every Club World Cup game so far, but is now set to face competition from Dani Carvajal after he returned to the bench against Juventus after recovering from a serious knee injury. "Trent has adapted phenomenally well, he has got on with everyone fantastically," Carvajal said when asked about Alexander-Arnold ahead of the game. "He has been super friendly: when we have had an afternoon off, he has come with everyone to eat, he seems a very, very good lad. ‌ "He already knew Jude [Bellingham] but it's with everyone. And, professionally, it's normal: at every team there are new signings, new players, and I took that as a personal challenge too: I love to compete, I love to have challenges in front of me. "I hope that healthy competition can make the team even better. As for the position: I don't know. I haven't thought about it, because if the manager asks me to play on the left wing I play in the left wing. "It's not something that concerns me, far from it. I just want to help. I've played centre-back, left-back, right-back … if it's in goal, I'm available. It's been nine months but I feel good, I'm ready."
