Its Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said he respected the EAIC's findings and stressed that the Home Ministry and its agencies prioritise public convenience.
"I should also mention that there have been cases where applications from citizens were either unsuccessful or rejected outright due to forged documents.
"For example, there have been cases involving maternity clinics where the birth did not actually take place, but the facilities were used to issue birth certificates," he told reporters after attending the ministry's Kampung Angkat Madani (Madani adopted village initiative) launching ceremony at SK Kampung Pangkalan Abai today.
Saifuddin said the NRD has a clear, efficient, and uncompromising policy when it comes to verifying the authenticity of documents.
However, he said he is open to improving the process if there are areas that can be enhanced.
"When citizens in need of services are affected by delays, it is the responsibility of the NRD to improve," he said.
It was reported that the EAIC revealed that there was an unreasonable delay by an investigating officer of the Sabah NRD in handling a child's new identity card application.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the closing ceremony of the programme on July 12, which is expected to be attended by Federal and state senior leaders. The public is encouraged to take advantage of a wide range of services, including Royal Malaysia Police traffic summons discounts, free health screenings, a job fair, free motorcycle oil changes, as well as haircuts. Also available are helmet exchange services by the Road Transport Department, government service booths and exhibitions, community wellness initiatives and MADANI sales. Headline events include the Tautan Hati Ganu Bersama Rabbani' nasyid performance, a Selawat recitation and thanksgiving feast, a squid jigging carnival, tech and innovation showcases, virtual reality experiences and lucky draws.

Anwar, South African President hold bilateral talks on expanding strategic cooperation
RIO DE JANEIRO: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a bilateral meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa today. This comes a day after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim literally got grilled 'left, right and centre' after being accused of trying to deceive man-on-the-street Malaysians by unveiling RM8.13 bil in 'potential investments' from Italy as fruits from his week-long three- nation tour. Certainly, the PKR-bound technocrat Tengku Zafrul should have better anticipated the backlash before volunteering to be the Madani spokesman for 'potential investments' is now perceived as belittling the intellect of Malaysians after it has become synonymous with PMX's overseas trips.
