Habagat, trough of Severe Tropical Storm Danas to bring rains over PH
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and trough of Severe Tropical Storm Danas (formerly Bising) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will bring rains on Sunday throughout the country, PAGASA said. Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of Danas affecting Extreme Northern Luzon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides. At 3 a.m. Sunday, Danas was located 400 km west of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and with gustiness of up to 135 km/h. Danas is moving north northeastward slowly toward Taiwan. It has no direct effect on the country, but PAGASA said there may still be a possibility it will reenter PAR tonight or early tomorrow morning, according to DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina. Bising may also intensify into a typhoon and possibly make landfall over mainland China on Tuesday, he added. Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the rest of the country on Sunday. The Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan will have occasional rains, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides. The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur. Coastal waters will be rough in Extreme Northern Luzon, and moderate to rough in the western section of Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters. Sunrise was at 5:32 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:30 p.m. —KG, GMA Integrated News

2 to 3 storms may enter PAR in July 2025, PAGASA says
State weather bureau PAGASA said two to three tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this July 2025, with Pangasinan expected to experience rain on up to 21 days this month due to the southwest monsoon. According to PAGASA, the southwest monsoon or 'habagat' continues to affect the region, bringing rain and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon and evening. 'Nagkakaroon ng thunderstorm. Kaakibat nito ang ulan,' Engr. Jose Estrada Jr., Chief Meteorological Officer at PAGASA Dagupan Station, said. Based on PAGASA's dry and rainy day forecast, Pangasinan may experience rainfall for up to 21 days this July 2025. In addition, two to three tropical cyclones are likely to form and enter the PAR this month. As thunder and lightning often come with heavy rains, PAGASA reminded the public to take extra caution. Jay Dela Peña and his friends from Muntinlupa arrived in Dagupan City early morning on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. They headed straight to Tondaligan Beach, eager to enjoy the sea before the expected afternoon rains. 'Okay naman. Presko, maaliwalas at refreshing,' Dela Peña said. 'Kung nandiyaan 'yung lightning and thunder, 'wag gumamit ng cellphone,' Estrada said. Despite the frequent rain, PAGASA clarified that La Niña has not yet set in, as the current rainfall totals have not reached the criteria required for its declaration.
