A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after falling into the water at a North Yorkshire beauty spot.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it was called to the incident at Richmond Falls, near Richmond, at 16:41 BST.
Two air ambulances attended the scene and the male casualty was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough at about 18:00, an ambulance service spokesperson confirmed. They did not provide an update on his condition.
A series of rocky steps along the River Swale make up what is known as Richmond Falls, a popular spot with walkers and swimmers.
The incident comes after a schoolgirl died after falling into a reservoir in Ripponden, West Yorkshire on Wednesday.
On Saturday emergency services recovered the body of a girl who had entered the River Thames in Gravesend, Kent along with a boy on Friday.
The boy was taken to hospital, where he remained in a stable condition as of Saturday afternoon.

Car runs over cyclist's foot when he was waiting at junction before driving off

A cyclist was rushed to hospital with broken bones after a car ran over his foot in a hit-and-run. The 34-year-old man was left with two breaks in his right foot after it was driven over at the crossroads of Normanby Road and Flatts Lane in Middlesbrough at around 2.40pm on Saturday (August 2). The man had been waiting in the middle of the junction to turn right when the car struck. The driver failed to stop, leaving the injured cyclist in the road, police said. He was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment. Police said the man was unable to get a description of the vehicle. Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting reference SE25145122.

City recycles 75% of glass after bin change

Households in Leeds have recycled 12,000 tonnes of glass since a new collection service began a year ago. Residents have been able to put glass in their green bins since 1 August 2024, as part of Leeds City Council's plan to cut carbon emissions. The authority said the glass recycling levels in the city had increased from 48% to 75% in the first 12 months of the programme, saving 464 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Glass is then sorted at a Leeds plant and re-melted at Yorkshire facilities to produce new bottles and jars, ready for reuse within a month. However, the council has urged residents to recycle even more glass in their green bins, as 25% of all glass is still being put in black bins, according to a spokesperson for the authority. There are also 700 glass recycling banks around the city, which can hold up to 3,000 bottles and jars. Executive member for climate, energy, environment and green space Mohammed Rafique said: "The first year of household glass collections has been a big success so we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone in Leeds for their efforts. "Let's all work together to make the second year of glass collections even more successful than the first, to help the environment and the Yorkshire economy so that everyone wins." Man threw petrol bomb at police outside Aldi

A man who threw a petrol bomb at police before pointing an imitation firearm towards them has been found guilty of attempting to cause an explosion with intent to endanger life. David Wiatrowski, 36, used a hammer to smash the windows of an Aldi store in Boston, Lincolnshire, on New Year's Day, before confronting officers who arrived to arrest him. Wiatrowski, of Bradford Road, Boston, previously admitted possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, affray and criminal damage at a hearing in February. He was convicted by a jury at Lincoln Crown Court on Wednesday following a three-day trial and is due to be sentenced on 2 October. Lincolnshire Police said that at the time of the incident, Wiatrowski had what appeared to be a firearm in a holster on his right hip. He shouted to officers to get back in their vehicle as he lit a rag in a bottle and threw it towards them, before making a motion with the gun as if he were cocking it. Wiatrowski fled, but was arrested on 10 January after a member of the public responded to an appeal. According to police, Wiatrowski had no apparent motive for his actions, but told officers he was bored with life and wanted to make a Molotov cocktail – a type of petrol bomb. Officers found CCTV footage of him attempting to fill a drinking bottle with petrol as part of his plan. When questioned about why he had thrown the petrol bomb and pointed the gun, he said he wanted to scare the officers, "to think they were going to die". He also told police he had no intention of entering the store, on Queen Street, after smashing the windows. Det Insp Melissa Rooke said: "This was a calculated and entirely senseless act, carried out with blatant disregard for the impact it would have. "It's no surprise that those who responded to this incident were profoundly affected by what they encountered. Our officers faced an individual whose clear objective was to instil fear and potentially inflict serious harm."
