Pop Star Responds To ‘Boomers' Criticizing Her for Using AutoTune Live
The beloved U.K. music festival showcased a diverse range of music and acts-from classic rock to punk, hip-hop, and EDM-but apparently, some fans took offense at Charli's lack of a backing band and her extensive use of AutoTune during her set on June 28.
"Really enjoying these boomer vibe comments on my Glastonbury performance," tweeted Charli on Sunday. "It's super fascinating to me. Like the idea that singing with deliberate autotune makes you a fraud or that not having a traditional band suddenly means you must not be a 'real artist' is like, the most boring take ever."
"Yawn sorry just fell asleep xx," she added, exaggerating how she was over it.
The 32-year-old singer-whose album, brat, elevated her to a new level of fame and became a part of the pop culture landscape last year-said she honestly "enjoys the discourse" surrounding her work. "[In my opinion]," tweeted Charli, "the best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable."
Charli appeared to close the book on her brat era at the end of her Glastonbury set, as her signature lime-green curtain went up in flames while she danced. Later, she was spotted watching Gracie Abrams' set.
Stereogum notes that Charli still has a few more European festival appearances lined up over the summer (including an appearance at South Korea's One Universe Festival in mid-August), so fans can still feel very brat a few more times before it's all over.
Along with Charli's AutoTune, Glastonbury had something for everyone. The massive festival featured an appearance by Sir Ian McKellen during the Scissor Sisters' set, the return of The 1975, and a surprise collaboration between Olivia Rodrigo and goth rock icon Robert Smith of The Cure.

Cariuma Gave This Celeb-loved Sneaker Style a Comfy Upgrade for Summer—and It's Already Selling Out
Every traveler knows that comfy shoes are essential, but too often, that means sacrificing style. When you're logging over 10,000 steps while sightseeing, choosing comfort over fashion seems like a necessary evil. I've worn my fair share of ugly-yet-cloudlike sneakers—but no longer. Now, thanks to summer's biggest shoe trend, the Mary Jane sneaker, we can finally enjoy both fashion and function. Celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and Dua Lipa have already been spotted wearing iterations of the style, but there's one pair, in particular, that we're most excited about: the newly dropped Oca Mary Janes from Cariuma, the brand behind Travel + Leisure editors' favorite travel shoes (celebrities like Brooke Shields and Gabrielle Union have also given Cariuma their seal of approval). As Cariuma's first flats-inspired silhouette, these black leather sneakers feature the sleek upper of a Mary Jane, plus the rubber sole of the brand's classic and celeb-loved Oca Low sneaker. Cariuma shoes are known for their comfort, and the Oca Lows are soft and comfy right out of the box, per shoppers and T+L editors. Needless to say, we're sure the new Mary Jane version will offer comparable comfort. That means you can take on European vacations, theme park days, and more walk-intensive trips with confidence. The Cariuma Mary Jane shoes have a pull tab at the heel, which allows you to easily slip them on, plus adjustable straps that ensure a secure fit. Compared to traditional lace-up sneakers, these shoes are so much more convenient for airport days. They're just as comfortable, but slip on and off easily at airport security or your midday hotel stop. What's more, these shoes come in four colors and prints, including leather and suede options. For versatile pairs to match any outfit, snag the sleek white or black leather options. Looking to add some pattern into your wardrobe? We also love the leopard print suede option, which features black leather accents and gold-colored hardware. Whichever you choose, you can pair the Mary Janes with jeans, dresses, skirts, or even shorts. The possibilities are endless. We've even seen them styled with white crew socks, which gives these shoes a dressed-down look. Some sizes are already sold out, so be sure to act fast if you're interested in this versatile travel shoe. Plus, keep scrolling for more comfortable, best-selling Cariuma sneakers that are perfect for summer travel. Love a great deal? 'I'm so sorry to everyone that was coming to see me 🙏 I hate cancelling shows and wish I was partying with you guys so fkn much.' As indicated, Timmy Trumpet will no longer be appearing at his planned show in Sables, France on July 24, and festival slots at Germany's Open Beatz Festival and Belgium's Tomorrowland on July 25 and 27, respectively. Currently, he is scheduled to return to the stage on Aug. 1 as part of Canada's Veld Music Festival. The remainder of his current tour schedule sees him performing myriad shows throughout Europe and North and South America until November. Timmy Trumpet first rose to fame as a trumpet for Australian duo the Stafford Brothers before going solo as a DJ while utilizing live trumpet in his sets. His breakthrough single, 'Freaks,' was released in 2014, with the track – a collaboration with New Zealand's Savage – peaking at No. 3 in Australia and reaching the top ten in a handful of European countries. In 2019, Timmy Trumpet also became the first musician to perform a DJ set in zero gravity, with the achievement made possible thanks to the European Space Agency and German music promoters BigCityBeats. 'It was like no other experience I've ever had before,' he explained at the time. Timmy Trumpet released his debut album, Mad World, in 2020, and has frequently been listed as one of the top DJs in the world by DJ Mag, who listed the Australian at No. 5 in their 2024 list.
