Two of Pakistan's most-wanted fugitives, accused of terrorism, murder, and kidnapping, have been arrested in Spain, officials said, marking a significant breakthrough in Islamabad's efforts to apprehend high-profile criminals.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the arrests are the result of persistent coordination between Pakistani and Spanish authorities, initiated during Minister Talal Chaudhry's recent visit to Spain.
The suspects, long absconders from Pakistan, will be handed over to Pakistani authorities after completion of the requisite legal procedures.
The two arrested individuals, Nawazish Ali Hanjra and Haroon Iqbal, were detained pursuant to Interpol Red Notices. Hanjra faces 23 cases involving serious charges such as terrorism, murder, and kidnapping for ransom, while Iqbal is wanted in a separate criminal investigation.
