Saudi leadership hails successful Hajj 2025 and praises efforts of all involved
RIYADH: King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the authorities involved in organizing the 2025 Hajj season, praising the efforts that contributed to its success, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
In separate cables sent to Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, both leaders thanked the minister, regional governors, committee members, and all security, civil, and government personnel who took part in delivering a smooth and safe pilgrimage for nearly 1.7 million worshippers.
King Salman described the season as a success by the grace of God and the coordinated execution of comprehensive security, health, organizational, and service plans.
He highlighted the pilgrims' ability to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind, in a secure and spiritual atmosphere.
'We followed with pride the great efforts made by all sectors in serving the pilgrims of the house of Allah,' the King said. 'We were pleased with the dedication and excellence shown by everyone in attaining the honor of serving the guests of the most Gracious.'
The king also thanked all those involved for their Eid Al-Adha greetings, prayed for the acceptance of the pilgrims' Hajj, and asked God to grant continued success in serving Islam and Muslims.
Prince Mohammed echoed the sentiments, expressing thanks for the congratulations and for the collective commitment shown throughout the season.
He attributed the successful management of the Hajj to divine support, the leadership of King Salman, and the tireless work of all entities involved in executing the wide-ranging plans.
He also praised the careful monitoring by relevant authorities to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
'We pray to God to protect the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to sustain the blessings of security on our homeland, and to accept the Hajj of all pilgrims,' the crown prince said.
The Hajj season this year saw 1,673,230 pilgrims perform their rites.

Roosters banned in north Lebanese village over loud squawking
BEIRUT: Keeping pet roosters between houses in the northern Lebanese village of Bednayel has been banned after a municipal decision. Earlier this week, Salaheddine Al-Ayoubi, the municipality chief of Bednayel, in Al-Koura region, issued the decision banning villagers from keeping roosters to maintain public order and prevent loud noises during the daytime. 'It is illegal to (keep) pet roosters between village houses because they squawk loudly and cause mess and awful smell … not only roosters, but also chicken or any other animal that causes public disorder. Tens of residents complained of roosters' crowing during daytime and due to that I issued the decision,' Al-Ayoubi told Arab News on Saturday. The decision caused a social media frenzy and triggered uproar amongst internet users, most of whom criticized Al-Ayoubi. In his decision, which granted villagers a 10-day deadline to get rid of roosters or any other animal that causes noisiness or disorder, Al-Ayoubi said that it was taken in the best interests of Bednayel's residents, and was meant to maintain public order. Elaborating further, the municipality chief explained: 'Unfortunately, many villagers misinterpreted the decision. Some questioned how their chicken could lay eggs without roosters. Well, chickens do lay eggs without the need of roosters.' He added the decision did not single out the issue of owning roosters, but it also discussed several other factors which have been causing public nuisance. 'I did not prevent them from owning roosters … whoever wants to keep a rooster, could do so but not between the houses. Tens of residents have complained of the loud crowing at any time during the day. That is not acceptable … so they are free to have roosters away from the houses and not between them,' he told Arab News. Al-Ayoubi pointed out that anyone who owns a pet must take all necessary measures to prevent any disturbance to residents, such as maintaining cleanliness, limiting noise, and not allowing animals to roam without supervision. The decision also prohibits driving motorcycles with loud or modified noises and any motorcycle that violates the regulations will be impounded and its driver fined. 'The municipality will take the appropriate legal action against violators,' he added.

KSA approves rules for public utility facilities
Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture, Hamad Al-Khamshi, approved the guidelines for establishments located at public utility markets for vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, and fish. The guidelines shall be enforced as of the date of publication, and all relevant parties shall be notified for implementation. The guidelines supersede any previous conflicting regulations, according to Umm Al-Qura official newspaper. Under the guidelines, establishments are required to have air or plastic curtains on external entrance doors, as well as natural or artificial lighting (or both) at the premises. Artificial lighting should not alter the appearance of colors, and its intensity must suit the nature of operations. Light fixtures must be shatter-resistant or protected by covers in areas where they are directly exposed to food, equipment, utensils, or unsealed packaging materials.

KSrelief distributes 1,100 food baskets in Sudan
NORTH KORDOFAN: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has distributed 1,100 food baskets to displaced families in Sudan's North Kordofan State, benefiting 6,383 individuals. The distribution is part of the third phase of the 2025 Food Security Support Project and the Kingdom's ongoing efforts through KSrelief to support Sudanese people amid the crisis. Meanwhile, KSrelief continues to implement its water supply and environmental sanitation project in the Yemeni districts of Midi, Haradh, Hayran, and Abs in the Hajjah governorate, as well as the Razih district in the Sadah governorate. In May, KSrelief delivered 4,561,000 liters of potable water and 47,412,000 liters of usable water in Hajjah. Additionally, 244 waste removal operations were conducted in displacement camps, and 4,048 water transport containers were distributed. The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to meet essential needs and improve living conditions in regions affected by conflict.
