Aizawl: The Advocacy Group for Peace in Chinland, a Aizawl-based team constituted under the aegis of
Mizoram
CM Lalduhoma, is yet making a breakthrough to bring peace between the warring Chin armed groups as both sides failed to reach a compromise to end the armed internecine conflict in western Chin state, a member of the advocacy team said on Monday, reports HC Vanlalruata.
The member, speaking to TOI on the condition of anonymity, said the group has reached out to both the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) and the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) - Hualngoram as well as the Chin National Front (CNF) and its armed wing the Chin National Army (CNA) a number of times. "The main impediment is that the groups, when they are cornered, want peace but refuse to accept our peace overtures whenever they gain upper hand," he said.
The National Unity Government (NUG), a parallel Myanmar govt in exile, also has urged the Chin armed groups to stop fighting among themselves. Other bodies, including National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), an advisory body of the NUG, and several religious denominations of the Chins as well as civil societies in Mizoram have also been calling for peace and unity among the Chin armed groups.

In attack on AAP in Punjab, Anurag Thakur says land pooling scheme like Delhi liquor scam

Bathinda: BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Sunday likened AAP govt's land pooling scheme in Punjab to the 2022 liquor scam in Delhi, stating that the final destination for those behind it will be jail. Speaking to media here, Thakur said Delhi-based leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, alarmed over facing jail terms in the liquor scam, were now making Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann implement the land pooling scheme. "After minting money, they will go away, and those who implement it will have to face the music," Thakur added. Thakur, who is a govt body member of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda, visited the health institute duiring the day. He said a 300-bedded facility would be added shortly. He said he came to know of some medicines not being available at Jan Aushadhi and Amrit Pharmacy in AIIMS, and he would take up the matter at appropriate forums. He also accused the state govt of charging the commercial rate for electricity from AIIMS and asked it to provide electricity at subsidised rates. Thakur also hit out at AAP over a growing perception that its Delhi-based leaders were now calling the shots in Punjan. "People in Punjab feel cheated after giving a thumping majority to AAP, as they chose Punjabis to lead them, but Delhi-based leaders took control and are governing Punjab by proxy," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The former Union minister said the Delhi-based AAP leaders were taking decisions that were not in the interest of Punjab or Punjabis. He also raised the issue of AAP not meeting its promise of giving a Rs 1,000 per month cash incentive to women. The BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur constituency also raised lack of jobs, rising drug menace, no MSP on crops other than wheat and paddy, and gangsters running syndicates from jails. He added that elected members of AAP would start leaving it in the next six months, as they knew it had lost people's confidence. "BJP is sure to form the next govt," said Anurag. He also took potshots at Samvidhan Bachao rallies of the Congress. He accused the Congress-led govt in Himachal Pradesh of not providing adequate assistance to people ravaged by excessive rain, while the central govt was providing assistance.

Rajasthan Table Tennis Association president Mukul Gupta demands action against TTFI secretary Kamlesh Mehta and Ranjeet Malik

Jaipur: All is not well in the Rajasthan table tennis fraternity. The intense fight between the two factions has put a break on the progress of sport in the region for the last couple of years. The president of the Rajasthan Table Tennis Association (RTTA) Mukul Gupta has alleged that the other faction - led by Ranjeet Malik -- is trying to create problems and hampering the game despite a proper elected body being formed in the elections held on February 11, 2023. "During the last elections, observers from Table Tennis Federation of India (Gulanan), Rajasthan State Sports Council (Bhiya Ram Choudhary) and Rajasthan Olympic Association (Arun Saraswat and Shankar Lal) witnessed the proceedings in Jodhpur under the supervision of election officer Mahesh Saini. However, despite the fair elections, we still did not get the affiliation letter from the RSSC," said Mukul Gupta while addressing a press conference here on Sunday. Mukul Gupta alleged that after the 2023 elections, Ranjeet Malik approached TTFI secretary Kamlesh Metha and formed another group which forced the national governing body of TT to withdraw the powers of the elected body. Thereafter, two teams of Rajasthan (TTFI 1 and TTFI 2) are participating in the Nationals. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like for Working Pros BITS Pilani Digital Apply Now "Ranjeet Malik joined hands with his friend Kamlesh Mehta for his personal gains and made a mockery of the elections held according to the constitution of the RTTA. It is a big conspiracy and ruining the game in the region. Paddlers of Rajasthan are suffering as they are not getting valid certificates from the TTFI. It not only affects their chances of representing the country but also not helping them secure jobs in the government or private sectors," alleged Jodhpur-based Mukul Gupta, who was elected as the RTTA president for a four-year tenure in February 2023. The Mukul Gupta-led RTTA has three demands to restore the game in the region and seeks urgent attention of the state government. "There should be a proper action against Kamlesh Mehta and Ranjeet Malik. We should get an affiliation letter from the RSSC as soon as possible. Mention of Rajasthan on the certificates of players who compete in the national-level tournaments," demanded Gupta. One of the RTTA vice-presidents and Jaipur District TT Association president Lalit Singh added that they approached state sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and RSSC chairman Neeraj K Pawan several times but did not get justice so far. "Sports minister said formation of an ad hoc body is the answer to this problem and asked the chairman to resolve the issue. We are ready to hear our oppositions' views in the meeting for the benefit of state players," said Lalit Singh.
