Nawazuddin Siddiqui says nobody has made a film above Rs 25 crore budget with him, Irrfan, Manoj Bajpayee; opens up on being judged for his dark skin colour
has always broken stereotypes surrounding the quintessential Hindi cinema hero. He's seen his own share of struggle and carved his own niche. Today, he's considered one of the finest actors we have.
In a recent interview, the actor has opened up on his struggles and how he still faces judgements becuase of his looks.
When asked if he gets bothered for people judging him, he said during a chat with Nayandeep Rakshit, "Vo toh aaj tak jhelne padte hain. Thankfully, the industry doesn't think like that, but it still exists in the society. In my initial days, many people said, 'Aap actor dikhte nahi ho' (you don't look like an actor).
That used to make me feel bad. Kya karein ab? Kaala hu toh yahan tak pahuch gaya, agar gora hota toh kya kardeta main (I am dark, still reached till here, imagine what all I could have done if I was fair).
'
Nawazuddin also added that he does not have any fears about his career now about being rejected or the box office even. He said, "I don't have any fear. But yes, there are many actors who have been rejected, but keep coming back because of their film background and support system. Hum jaise log, main,
Manoj Bajpayee
or more actors like us, unko nahi hota yeh…box office, etc.

What will you say to Manoj Bajpayee? Vo box office se upar uth chuka hai. He is not chasing it."
However, he feels upset about the fact that nobody wants to make a film with actors like him. He added, "For example, Naseer sahab (
Naseeruddin Shah
),
Om Puri
, Manoj bhai, Irrfan, or other actors like us, humein lekar Rs 25 crore se upar kabhi kisi ne film banaayi hi nahi (Nobody ever made a film with budget over Rs 25 crore with actors like me, Naseer sir, Om Puri, Manoj and Irrfan).
Secondly, people want to watch our films but the screens don't reach there. If you want to see our box office numbers, then atleast give us that distribution of screens as well. Only then you'll get to know how many people want to watch us.
Today, we talk highly of Irrfan. Ofcourse, he was a great actor. But, no one cast him in a film with a Rs 20-25 crore budget."
He further revealed, "This is the reason why it's said that there are two kinds of actors, ek public ka aur ek industry ka. Even if people don't want to watch the industry's actor, their films are released right in front of your house. But, the actor whose film public actually wants to see, their film is released in 200-300 screens, ek subah ka show aur ek raat ka. I get bothered."

Exclusive: Chandra Barot deserved far more credit for Don, says Javed Akhtar
Javed Akhtar pays tribute to Don director, the late Chandra Barot Veteran director Chandra Barot , 86, best known for making the 1978 cult classic Don, passed away in Mumbai. The filmmaker was battling pulmonary fibrosis for the past seven years. Barot's directorial debut Don was written by Salim-Javed ( Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar ). The film, which featured Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role, also starred Zeenat Aman, Pran and Helen. The film, which continues to be a landmark in Hindi cinema, was remade by Farhan Akhtar in 2006 with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Barot began his career in the Hindi film industry as an assistant director with actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar. Remembering Chandra Barot, Javed Akhtar told Bombay Times, 'I remember meeting him around 12-15 years ago at an event. It was a fleeting meet and we promised to meet each other soon which sadly never happened. I will always remember him as the most gentle, easy-going man with a great sense of humour. He had no ego hassles and was extremely humble. Working with him and cinematographer Nariman A Irani on Don, was a great experience. ' 'Don was perhaps one of Amitabh Bachchan's first solo hits' The 1978 action-thriller went on to become a massive hit, cementing Big B and Salim Javed's domination and stardom. However, Barot largely stayed out of the limelight. The acclaimed screen writer and lyricist explained, 'It's strange how the industry operates. Don was immensely successful. I remember he was planning to work with Vinod Khanna after that. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Pieces of Clothing you should Ditch over 40 Learn More Undo There was a big announcement, but the film didn't take off. He was also in talks with Dilip Kumar. I don't know what happened there. I am not sure if this is the right time to say this, but he deserved far more credit for Don than he received. It was perhaps one of Amitabh's first solo hits. Most of his previous hits were multistarrers.' 'Don didn't mull over melodrama' Speaking about what made Don a cult classic, Javed saab added, 'Don was the first caper of Hindi cinema. It was one of its kind. Like other films of those times, Don didn't mull over melodrama, had no emotional backstory or rely on histrionics. I remember Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) saying in his classic tongue in cheek way, 'The whole film looks like a trailer!' What he meant was the film had that 'on the move' tempo and it was all Barot's vision. He invented that style and that to me was most unique. It was a well-made film.' 'I will always be loyal to my Don' Don was remade by Javed saab's son Farhan years later, but he says in all honesty, 'I will always be loyal to my Don. Don for me is the 1978 original, a film written by Salim-Javed. The films made later by Farhan are definitely successful and well-made, but I will stay loyal to my film.'

Got threat call in Punjabi after attack, says singer and rapper Fazilpuria
Gurgaon: Seven days after a bullet was allegedly fired at the car of singer and rapper (Fazilpuria) in Sector 71 on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), he revealed he had received a threatening phone call in Punjabi "on the same evening". Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Speaking to the media on Monday, Fazilpuria dismissed theories he had orchestrated the attack to have his security reinstated. The singer also dismissed an alleged claim of a loan amounting to Rs 5 crore — mentioned in a post by a gangster after the attack — and questioned its authenticity. Sharing details of the incident, the singer said he had left his office in Fazilpur for his home when a car approached from the rear. "Two men sitting behind were looking at me. I mistook them as fans. The men in that car intercepted my vehicle, following which I stopped near a divider. Two men stepped outside the car and I still thought that those were my fans and wanted to meet me. I was shocked to see one of them holding a weapon, following which I reversed my car and escaped while they fired at me," Fazilpuria said, adding he was alone on July 14 while heading home. Regarding threats, the singer said after he protested against the gangsters responsible for the killing of Punjabi singer , he received multiple threats and subsequently received security from the Haryana police. "My security was withdrawn 20 days prior to the attack on me. After the security was withdrawn, I requested the Gurgaon commissioner for a review. He said my plea was under consideration. After the attack on me, I was even under police scanner as there was a theory that I might have staged it, which is not the case at all. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I received a threat call in Punjabi and some other gang took responsibility on the same evening. I want the police to do a detailed investigation and nab the accused," the singer added. Following the attack, a viral message emerged in which Sunil Sardhania, an alleged member of the Himanshu Bhau gang, took responsibility for the shooting. The message said the firing was intended to warn the singer to repay Rs 5 crore to one Deepak Nandal within a month to avoid severe consequences. However, Fazilpuria, on Monday, denied the allegations of any such loan or investment, saying that he "never took any loan from Nandal, who was his old friend", and that all music labels had invested in his career. Two days after the attack, a suspect, identified as Vishal —25 year old— of Sonipat, was arrested from his village Jajal. Police are yet to arrest a co-accused.
