Rams safety Kamren Kinchens ranked inside the top-32 by PFF
The Los Angeles Rams don't have a star-studded secondary anymore. Instead, the team is full of veterans and unsung heroes who've held down the fort in recent years.
One of those players is 2024 third-round safety Kamren Kinchens. He started just four games in 2024 but saw more and more action as a rookie as the season progressed, including a Wild Card round start. Kinchens finished the year with 57 combined tackles, one fumble recovery and one interception for a touchdown.
His limited time on the field was good enough to earn him the No. 20 spot in Pro Football Focus' safety rankings heading into the 2025 NFL season.
"It took some time for the rookie Kinchens to break into the Rams' lineup. He played just 83 snaps over the first seven weeks in 2024 but soon put together multiple breakout performances, recording two of the top-40 safety performances of the season," PFF's Zoltán Buday wrote. "Those were a 92.6 PFF overall grade in Week 11 and an 87.8 PFF overall grade in Week 9."
Kinchens should begin the season as a starter alongside Kam Curl, and he'll be tasked with bolstering a downtrodden secondary unit that finished near the bottom of the NFL in 2024 and didn't add any stars during the offseason or the draft.

2025 Washington Commanders Preseason Schedule: Dates, Times, TV Channels
National Football League 2025 Washington Commanders Preseason Schedule: Dates, Times, TV Channels Published Aug. 4, 2025 2:55 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link The Washington Commanders enter the 2025 NFL preseason riding the momentum of a strong 2024 season in which they went 12-5 and surprised the league by making it all the way to the NFC Championship. With expectations even higher this year, here's a complete look at the Commanders' 2025 preseason schedule, including dates, times and TV channels. Washington Commanders 2025 Preseason Schedule Will Jayden Daniels take a massive leap with the Washington Commanders this season | First Things First Nick Wright, Kevin Wildes, and Chris Broussard break down whether Jayden Daniels will take a massive leap with the Washington Commanders this season and what it means for the team's future. How will the Commanders do this season? Ralph Vacchiano predicts that the Commanders will finish the year at 10-7. Here's Vacchiano: "The upstart Commanders and quarterback Jayden Daniels caught the NFL by surprise last season, but now the secret is out. The NFL has the Commanders in prime time five times this season, plus two other standalone games (vs. Miami in Madrid and vs. the Cowboys on Christmas Day). That's a big spotlight on a team that may find it difficult to duplicate its 2024 success, due to a tough road that includes games in Green Bay, Minnesota, Los Angeles (Chargers), Kansas City, and, of course, Philadelphia. The home slate is a little easier, which should be good enough to get them to double-digit wins and the playoffs. They might want to clinch early, though, because they get the Eagles twice in the last three weeks." share Get more from the National Football League Follow your favorites to get information about games, news and more

How James Gladstone's time with Rams may have influenced this Jaguars free agent signing
How James Gladstone's time with the Rams may have influenced his decision to sign this Jaguars' free agent earlier in the offseason. One of the Jacksonville Jaguars' big offseason additions was the signing of free agent cornerback Jourdan Lewis--a move made by GM James Gladstone that may have been influenced by his time with the LA Rams. ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano recently spent a day at Jaguars' training camp. In his notebook, one of the nuggets of information that Graziano shared was that while Gladstone was in LA, the Rams were very interested in Lewis. "The addition of former Cowboy Jourdan Lewis in free agency was a big one for former Rams exec Gladstone, who said L.A. tried to get him several times over the years because Sean McVay always said he was especially tough to game-plan against," Graziano wrote. "The Jags believe Lewis is already having an impact as a leader in that room." As Graziano notes, Lewis is already making an impact on the secondary as a leader, while on the field, he's been steadily making plays throughout training camp, providing some needed stability to a secondary unit that struggled mightily in 2024. Lewis was one of the better slot defenders in football last season, ranking eighth in yards per snap allowed, seventh in snaps per target, and eighth in snaps per reception, according to PFF. "He's been a heck of a vet," Tyson Campbell said of Lewis. "A guy that's played in this league for a long time and has been successful. So just picking his brain, a fun guy to be around, a great personality, bringing a lot of energy each and every day." The Jaguars signed Lewis to a three-year, $30 million contract. At the time, this deal made Lewis the highest-paid slot cornerback in the NFL.
