Julian McMahon dies at 56 after secret cancer battle
Following a secret cancer struggle, McMahon passed away in Clearwater, Florida, on Wednesday, July 2, according to a statement released by the Australian star's wife, Kelly, to the outlet on Friday, July 4.
'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' McMahon's wife, Kelly McMahon, said in a statement to Deadline. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.'

In the Ryan Murphy series Nip/Tuck, McMahon (whose father was former Australian Prime Minister William McMahon) portrayed Dr. Christian Troy from 2003 to 2010. He played Cole Turner, a romantic interest of Alyssa Milano's Phoebe on Charmed, from 2000 until 2005.
McMahon portrayed the antagonist Victor Von Doom in the superhero films Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). His most recent television appearance was on The Residence on Netflix, which was abruptly terminated after just one season.
Although he announced his departure from the show in January 2022, he served as the show's lead on the CBS crime series FBI: Most Wanted. On March 10, 2025, McMahon made his final appearance on the red carpet at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, where he debuted his film The Surfer alongside co-star Nicolas Cage.
