A car has smashed into the fountain in London's Piccadilly Circus - after the vehicle flipped over leaving two people injured. A huge emergency response was triggered this morning with the incident causing traffic chaos.
Pictures of an extensively damaged black car have appeared on social media, showing it came to a rest on its roof on the steps of the the iconic landmark.
The crash at the popular central London tourist attraction has reportedly lead to the road around the junction being closed, while Piccadilly Circus underground station is also said to be partially shut.
Police officers are standing guard at the scene and it's understood officers are now investigating the incident to try and establish what happened.
The Mirror reports the junction itself is now completely closed with a large police cordon surrounding it, while the underground station is partially shuttered.
Two people were injured when a car crashed into the iconic Piccadilly Circus landmark in central London this morning. The London Ambulance Service told The Mirror in a statement they treated two people.
One of the patients was taken to a major trauma centre, while the second was taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown. A huge emergency response raced through central London to reach the crash site this morning.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said it took them just four minutes to reach the victims, with the first paramedic arriving just before 5.30am.

The Mirror has reached out to the Metropolitan Police for further details on the crash, which happened around 5.30am this morning. There is a large police presence at the scene, with an investigation thought to already be underway.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call just before 1:55 this afternoon. It was a van on fire and we had two appliances in attendance." Elsewhere in the area, queues were building on the Edinburgh Bypass. From around 2pm, two lanes were restricted eastbound between Gilmerton Junction and Sheriffhall Roundabout.
