Morgan Freeman Named Grand Marshal For NASCAR Las Vegas Race
NASCAR might see more people than normal tuning in for the Pennzoil 400 on Sunday, March 16 since actor Morgan Freeman has been officially named grand marshal for the race. A favorite of many, he's beloved not only for his abilities in front of the camera but also as a narrator for movies, documentaries, TV shows, and more.But now Morgan Freeman will be acting as a narrator of sorts for a NASCAR race. It's going to feel surreal hearing his voice. At the same time, it will be a momentous moment for the motorsport.
What most people don't know is this isn't Freeman's first time collaborating with NASCAR. He's narrated several documentaries about the motorsport, which are rather good if you have the time to check them out.
We're unsure if he's personally a fan, but the official press release from Las Vegas Motor Speedway says Freman has 'helped bridge the gap between Hollywood and the NASCAR community' we guess from narrating some documentaries?
'I'm absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the ranged marshal for the NASCAR race,' Freeman said. 'It's a true honor to be part of such an incredible tradition, and I can't wait to see the energy, passion and excitement that fills the track. Let's rev up those engines and make this race unforgettable!'
If you're going to be in Las Vegas that weekend, check out the hauler parade on the Strip Thursday, March 13, which should be quite the sight to take in.
Racing that weekend in Las Vegas starts on Friday, March 14 with the Ecosave 200 Craftsman Truck Series race. Then on March 15 the LiUNA NASCAR Xfinity Series takes place in the afternoon. But the main event that will get by far the most attention is the Pennzoil 400 on Sunday.

Qualifying was held after a brief, rescheduled practice session. Friday's practice was rained out. Briscoe's teammate, Ty Gibbs, has the early edge in the championship round of NASCAR's first In-Season Challenge. He qualified fifth at 182.445. Ty Dillon starts 26th. The winner will be crowned champion and walk away with $1 million. Last week's race winner Denny Hamlin faces a major hurdle in winning his first Brickyard title. He crashed hard during qualifying and will start from the back of the field, 39th, as he tries to become the fifth driver to complete a career sweep of the Cup's crown jewel races. The 44-year-old Hamlin signed a two-year contract extension with JGR on Friday. Defending race winner Kyle Larson starts 13th. ___
