Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy showcases benefits of participating in Expand North Star 2025 to 350 Canadian startups
The chamber visited Toronto, Mississauga, and Vancouver and organised several events to help businesses operating in Canada capitalise on emerging opportunities within Dubai's thriving digital economy.
Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, recently conducted a promotional roadshow in Canada with Dubai World Trade Centre to highlight the benefits of participating in Expand North Star 2025, the world's largest event for startups and investors. The chamber will host the upcoming edition of Expand North Star at Dubai Harbour from 12 – 15 October 2025.
The roadshow seeks to build on the success of the Canadian startups that participated in last year's edition of the event, 67% of which have already established their businesses in Dubai. These companies are now aiming to leverage the emirate as a launchpad for local and regional expansion and building the necessary partnerships to grow their operations.
As part of the roadshow, the chamber organised a series of events across three Canadian cities, including Toronto, Mississauga, and Vancouver, which brought together more than 350 founders, investors, accelerators, and policymakers. The discussions showcased Dubai's position as a global hub for the growth and expansion of digital business, as well as the benefits and opportunities available to participants in Expand North Star. The annual event is organised by Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy.
The campaign provided a dynamic platform for networking and knowledge exchange, as well as showcasing initiatives to help Canadian companies enter Dubai's dynamic Dubai market and exploring opportunities within its thriving digital economy. The chamber also highlighted the services it provides to support the successful expansion of Canadian entrepreneurs across various advanced technology sectors in Dubai.
As part of the roadshow, pitch competitions were held across the three cities, attracting the participation of 31 innovative startups. Bidblocks, Dia Labs Canada, and Recyclorobo.ai, three companies specialising in artificial intelligence and healthcare technologies, emerged as the winners, with each securing fully funded participation in Expand North Star 2025. This opportunity offers a unique gateway to access new markets, as well as the chance to compete in the semi-final stage of the Supernova Challenge, which will take place during the event.
The 2024 edition of Expand North Star achieved record-breaking participation and strong visitor and exhibitor engagement, together with an exceptional level of innovation on display and wide international presence. The event attracted over 1,800 startups and more than 1,200 investors from 100 countries managing assets exceeding US$ 1 trillion. In addition, 65 unicorn companies with a combined market value of more than US$ 400 billion took part in the exhibition.
Canada is the second stop in the broader global campaign to highlight the significance and influence of Expand North Star 2025. The event serves as a key global gathering for startups, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders seeking to capitalise on unique growth opportunities in Dubai and shape the future of the digital economy. Expand North Star plays a pivotal role in attracting the global tech community to Dubai, serving as a powerful platform for innovation, collaboration, and fostering connections with some of the world's most promising startups, investors, and tech pioneers.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at Triumph Hotel in Fifth Settlement, attended by company officials, partners, and a select group of journalists and media representatives. Eng. Emad Doss, CEO of Rock Developments, stated that Rock Green marks a new milestone in the company's journey to develop fully integrated urban communities. The project reflects the company's vision to offer residential spaces focused on quality of life and luxury, with over 85% of the land dedicated to green areas, alongside a full suite of amenities tailored to meet diverse customer needs. Doss said that the project enjoys a prime strategic location—just one minute from Suez Road, three minutes from El Shorouk City, seven minutes from Madinaty, 15 minutes from Fifth Settlement, and 30 minutes from Cairo International Airport. It is also located near Belvedere School, the International Medical Center, and Royal Hospital, placing it at the heart of a wide range of essential services. He noted that Rock Developments is committed to perfecting every aspect of its projects before launch to ensure they meet the expectations of their target clients. He described the customer as a core partner in the company's success, adding that Rock Green has been thoughtfully designed to stand out as a signature development in New Heliopolis. Doss added that the project includes over 466 units ranging from 116 to 236 sqm, along with 40 private villas and will be launched in three phases. Engineer Parthena Doss, board member at Rock Developments, is overseeing the architectural design of the Rock Green project, leveraging her strong academic foundation and hands-on design experience. The company is targeting EGP 1.5bn in sales from the project's first phase, expecting robust demand driven by a growing appetite for premium real estate offerings in Egypt. She revealed that Rock Developments holds a land portfolio exceeding 5 million sqm, comprising over 20,000 units across 10 projects, with a total investment value surpassing EGP 20bn. The company is also the largest developer in Sheraton Heliopolis, with more than 70 residential and commercial buildings. It operates as a joint Egyptian-Canadian developer with over 45 years of experience in the local market. CAIRO, July 1 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday discussed with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand ways of enhancing cooperation and economic relations between Egypt and Canada. During a phone call, Abdelatty congratulated Anand on her appointment as a foreign minister, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's keenness to advance economic and trade ties with Canada, urging Canadian companies to invest in Egypt, particularly in the sectors of energy, agriculture, and water resources. He highlighted Egypt's recent steps to support the private sector and improve the business climate, the spokesman said. The top Egyptian diplomat emphasized the importance of drawing on the outcomes of the 12th round of political consultations between the two countries, during which a delegation of Egyptian businessmen visited Ottawa in April. The phone call took up developments in the Middle East, with Abdelatty briefing Anand on Egypt's efforts to resume the ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the release of hostages and detainees along with facilitating the delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid amid the worsening humanitarian situation there. He highlighted Egypt's plans to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, once a ceasefire deal reached, the spokesman stated.
