Maalik vs Metro… In Dino box office day 3: Rajkummar Rao-starrer trails behind Mr and Mrs Mahi; Anurag Basu's film inches towards Rs 40 cr mark
Maalik had an underwhelming start at the box office on Friday, minting Rs 3.75 crore. However, thanks to positive word-of-mouth, the film saw a 40 percent jump in its collection on Saturday, raking in Rs 5.25 crore. The film tried to maintain the same momentum on Sunday and earned Rs 5.09 crore, which was a 3 percent drop from Saturday's collection.
Maalik had an overall 20.77 percent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, with the maximum occupancy of 29.79 percent seen in evening shows. The film saw a 22.81% occupancy at night. Morning and afternoon slots were slower, at 8.05% and 22.43% respectively.
Maalik is facing major competition from the multi-starrer Metro… In Dino. The Anurag Basu directorial minted Rs 4.75 crore on its second Sunday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 38.55 crore. Metro… In Dino also had a slow start at the box office, but positive word-of-mouth helped the film gain ground at the box office. Metro… In Dino had earned Rs 26.85 crore after the first week of release. The film maitained a strady momentum over its second weekend and saw an over 95% jump on Saturday, minting Rs 4.6 crore, following a further increase on Sunday.
Not just Metro… In Dino, the Rajkummar Rao-starrer also clashed with Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor's debut film Ankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which released on the same day. However, Ankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan has failed to make a mark at the box office, minting Rs 41 lakh on Sunday and earning Rs 1.2 crore within the first three days of release.
Before Maalik, Rajkummar had delivered Bhool Chuk Maaf. The film performed better than Maalik and collected Rs 28 crore within the first three days of release, far more than Maalik's Rs 14.1 crore. In fact, Rajkummar's last flop film – Mr & Mrs Mahi – earned more than Maalik, minting Rs 16.85 crore within the same timeframe.

'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' box office collections day 7: Vikrant Messy and Shanaya Kapoor's film slows down; mints Rs 1.76 cr in first week
After a modestly promising weekend, 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' starring Vikrant Messy and Shanaya Kapoor has seen a consistent dip in collections during the weekdays. According to the Sacnilk website, the romantic drama managed to bring in just Rs 8 lakhs crore on its seventh day (Thursday), taking its first-week India net total to approximately Rs 1.76 crore. Steady Weekend, but Steep Drop During Weekdays The film, which had a slow start, picked up slightly on Saturday and Sunday but began to fizzle out starting Monday. While the performances and storytelling found appreciation in niche circles, box office momentum hasn't quite matched the audience goodwill. On its opening day (Friday), the film collected Rs 30 lakhs, and then, showed a positive 66% jump on Saturday with Rs 50 lakhs. The same figure was repeated on Sunday, giving hope for a stable run. However, the film couldn't maintain the momentum during the weekdays. Monday saw a sharp 70% decline, and the movie made only Rs 15 lakhs. The numbers kept falling; the film collected Rs 14 lakhs on Tuesday, Rs 9 lakhs on Wednesday, and finally Rs 8 lakhs on Thursday. Low occupancy across key regions The overall Hindi occupancy for the film on Day 7 was around 8.50%, with night shows performing slightly better at 12%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo In metro regions, Mumbai led the charge with 13.75% overall occupancy, while NCR followed at 10.50%. Pune and other cities hovered around or below the 7% mark. 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' review The movie is getting mixed reviews from the audience. ETimes gave the Vikrant Massey starrer a 3-star rating and an excerpt from our review reads, "Tanveer Mir's cinematography lends stunning visual appeal, capturing both the grandeur of Mussoorie and the charm of Europe. Vishal Mishra 's soothing music further elevates the film. Despite narrative shortcomings, what works is the lead couple. Shanaya Kapoor makes an impressive debut, bringing a strong screen presence and handling emotional scenes with ease. Vikrant Massey once again proves his mettle with a nuanced performance across both light and intense moments. Zain Khan Durrani also delivers a fine act, despite limited screen time." With mixed reviews and underwhelming occupancy rates, the movie is expected to surely face some competition in the coming days. ‘Superman' box office collections day 7: James Gunn's film sees modest hold; Rs 35.62 cr nett in week 1
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) The iconic cape continues to soar as 'Superman' (3D) wraps up its first week at the Indian box office with a total collection of Rs 35.62 crore (nett). According to the Sacnilk website, despite a steep Monday drop, the film recovered slightly midweek and held steady on Thursday, bringing in Rs 2 crore on day 7 across all languages. The film stars David Corenswet in his debut as the Man of Steel and has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu alongside the English release. While the initial weekend saw great enthusiasm, especially in metros, occupancy rates have since evened out. Weekend momentum vs weekday realities After an impressive opening at Rs 7.25 crore on Friday, 'Superman' (3D) surged on Saturday with Rs 9.5 crore and held strong Sunday at Rs 9.25 crore. However, Monday brought a dramatic fall—just Rs 2.6 crore—showing the typical weekday slowdown. Encouragingly, Tuesday brought a mild bounce back with Rs 3 crore, but Wednesday and Thursday hovered around the Rs 2 crore mark each. Occupancy patterns reflect mixed buzz On Day 7, the film had a 9.99% occupancy in English (3D) screens. It had the highest traction during night shows (13.13%). Mumbai, NCR, and Hyderabad led in turnout, with overall citywise occupancy staying close to or just below 10%. Superman The Immigrant? James Gunn's Bold Take On Hero's Identity Sets Fans Off In A Fiery Debate Tamil-dubbed shows saw a surprising 13.53% occupancy overall, especially strong during afternoon and night slots, signaling a growing Southern fanbase for DC titles. Hindi versions, however, struggled, posting single-digit occupancy in both 2D and 3D formats. Flying forward: Week 2 holds the key As the film steps into its second weekend, 'Superman' (3D) faces competition from regional releases and action-packed Indian films. An excerot from ETimes review for the film read, "Superman is entertaining, enjoyable, even epic but never intense. James Gunn's non-origin story soars high visually but stays limited emotionally. The director's unyielding need to go traditional comes at a cost. It is still a tremendous cinematic experience that deserves to be watched in IMAX. " With Rs 35.62 crore collected so far, its fate now hinges on holding power beyond the core fanbase. Whether Kal-El's new chapter becomes a long-lasting hit will be determined in the days to come.
