Rookie left-arm spin bowler Sonal Dinusha had the best bowling figures for Sri Lanka with 3-22, while fast bowler Asitha Fernando returned 3-51.
The first test of the two-match series ended in a draw last week at Galle.

Flowers were laid by Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish in front of fans, who responded by holding up a mosaic spelling out "DJ20" in honour of Jota's number 20 shirt, which has been retired by the club. Leao, too, remembered his fellow Portuguese player Jota as he offered a silent prayer and formed the number 20 with his fingers after scoring the opener. Wirtz played 45 minutes and looked comfortable directing operations, showing hints of why Bayer Leverkusen were paid a reported British transfer record $150 million for the German playmaker. Other new Liverpool signings left-back Milos Kerkez and right-back Jeremie Frimpong both came on as substitutes at half-time. But Striker Hugo Ekitike, who was signed from Entracht Frankfurt for a reported $92 million, was not ready to take part, having only flown in to join his new teammates two days earlier. Liverpool started without a recognised central striker as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, who have both been linked to move away from Anfield, were left out of the matchday squad. Liverpool 2-4 AC Milan: Wirtz's first appearance? Central defence issues? Ngumoha impresses?
Liverpool lost 4-2 in a pre-season friendly to AC Milan on Saturday afternoon. Arne Slot's side went behind in the 10th minute after a sweeping Christian Pulisic ball sent Rafael Leao through on goal. The winger fired past Alisson to give his side the lead. But Liverpool levelled in the 29th minute after Dominik Szoboszlai collected the ball on the left side of the box before curling a shot into the Milan net. Advertisement Leao was dangerous again after half-time, once again being played through on the left side in the 51st minute. He worked his way into the box before playing a pass across to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who fired into the Liverpool net to put his side ahead again. Milan then doubled their advantage after Noah Okafor latched onto a cross from the right and fired in. Liverpool did reduce the deficit in added time when Cody Gakpo rose highest in the box to head home. But then Milan added a fourth through Okafor after a huge defensive mix-up involving Kostas Tsimikas and Giorgi Mamardashvili sent him through on goal with an empty net gaping. The Germany international, who arrived from Bayern Leverkusen for a fee which could rise to a British record £116 million, was bought to give Slot's attack a new dimension. Having sat out the opening friendly against Preston before getting 45 minutes under his belt in the behind-closed-doors friendly against Stoke City last weekend, this was the first chance for supporters to get a proper look at Wirtz in action. That hefty price tag brings plenty of pressure with it, but he didn't disappoint here. Operating as a false nine, he was a joy to watch with his movement and eye for a pass. Having lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, Wirtz will help to fill that creative void. Mohamed Salah really should have gone for goal himself after being released by a lovely touch from Wirtz, but opted to try to play a return pass to the newcomer and the opening disappeared. Wirtz made it look effortless as he operated in small spaces and used the ball intelligently. One cute turn was followed by him expertly teeing up Harvey Elliott, who couldn't get a shot away on the difficult playing surface. Advertisement Striker Hugo Ekitike wasn't considered for selection, having only trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Friday following his £79m move from Eintracht Frankfurt. Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were also omitted as discussions over their futures rumble on. Diaz is being pursued by Bayern Munich, and Nunez is the subject of ongoing interest from the Saudi Pro League. With speculation over a potential record purchase of Newcastle United's Alexander Isak rumbling on, Liverpool's forward line could yet be further enhanced, but what's clear is that Wirtz is going to be a serious asset. There could be no clearer illustration of Liverpool's urgent need to buy another centre-back. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was pressed into duty there alongside captain Virgil van Dijk during the opening 45 minutes against Milan. Then in the second half, after Slot made nine changes at the break, left-back Kostas Tsimikas was the makeshift centre-back with Ibrahima Konate for company. Liverpool were already short in that department following the sale of England Under-21 international Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month in a £35 million deal. But Slot's options dwindled further before this game when Joe Gomez flew back to Merseyside due to discomfort in his Achilles. It's another frustrating setback for Gomez, who has only played 11 minutes of competitive football since Christmas. A hamstring injury wrecked the second half of last season for the club's longest-serving player. Liverpool retain an interest in Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi as they ponder their next move, but the clock is ticking with the Premier League opener against Bournemouth less than three weeks away. Gravenberch played at the back on occasions last season, but the issue with having him there is that it weakens your midfield because you're shifting the most accomplished No 6 in the top-flight. Milan were able to expose that defensive vulnerability early on when Rafael Leao ran through to fire home the opener from a tight angle. Then they did likewise in the second half when Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Noah Okafor both fired past Giorgi Mamardashvili. As if to symbolise the issue in one stark moment, the late mix-up between the out-of-position Tsimikas and Mamardashvili symbolised the need for another defender. There's a buzz around Rio Ngumoha and it's easy to see why. The teenage winger doesn't even turn 17 until the end of August but his potential is immense. Liverpool managed him carefully following his high-profile arrival from Chelsea last summer. He was largely kept out of the limelight at the academy as he adjusted to his new surroundings. There was just one senior appearance for him last season, and that was in January's FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley when he became the youngest player in the club's history to start a competitive game, aged 16 years and 135 days. Advertisement But Ngumoha looks ready to take on a bigger role this season. Physically, he looks better able to handle the demands of first-team football, and there's no doubt that he's got the talent and the right mentality. Ngumoha delighted the crowd here with his pace, power and trickery as he caused Milan plenty of problems. He was heavily involved in Liverpool's equaliser in the first half. After some great work down the left, he laid the ball off to Dominik Szoboszlai, who took a touch to steady himself and curled an unstoppable shot beyond Mike Maignan. Moments later, Nguhoma was at it again as he left defenders trailing in his wake and forced a smart save from the French goalkeeper. He's fearless, and he kept on demanding the ball. It was a poignant night in front of a record 49,704-strong crowd at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium. Before kick-off, Sir Kenny Dalglish laid a wreath in tribute to Diogo Jota as the fans behind the goal held up a mosaic which read: 'DJ20.' Supporters around the ground also applauded in memory of the Portugal international after 20 minutes — a nod to his squad number. Earlier in the day, Liverpool had unveiled plans for a memorial sculpture at Anfield. Slot's players will wear a 'Forever 20' emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets for the duration of the 2025-26 season, and the LFC Foundation, the club's official charity, will launch a grassroots football programme in Jota's name. Stokes hits a century in 4th test as England makes a stunning start on 4th day against India
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Ben Stokes scored his 14th test century as England ran up a 311-run lead in the fourth test against India on Saturday, with India then losing two wickets in the first over to go to lunch at 1-2. The England captain had a brilliant all-round performance with his 141 coming after he'd taken five wickets in India's first innings at Old Trafford. The hosts were all out for 669 in their first innings in Manchester, followed by Chris Woakes' double strike and a hat-trick chance. Yashasvi Jaiswal went for a duck after just four balls of India's second innings, caught by Joe Root. And it was even worse for Sai Sudharsan, going for a golden duck when caught by Harry Brook. It was an awful start for India, which looks likely to lose the test and the five-match series, which it trails 2-1, after a thrilling start to the day. The 34-year-old Stokes enthralled the crowd with his spectacular batting — scoring his first test century in two years, including three sixes. After reaching his century, he took off his helmet, looked up to the sky and then raised his bat to acknowledge all ends of the crowd. With it, he became the fourth different England player to get five wickets and a century in a test innings. Having resumed on 544-7, England was determined to pile the pressure on India and Stokes was at the heart of it - supported by Liam Dawson (26) and Brydon Carse (47). Stokes was eventually caught by Sudharsan off Ravindra Jadeja, who finished the innings with four wickets.
