Govt plans to deposit cosmetic charges to students' accounts through DBT
Speaking at a high-level review meeting, the CS said that as soon as the schools reopen in June, Aadhaar and photos of the students should be linked to the relevant bank branches and debit cards should be issued to their bank accounts. He highlighted that appropriate action should be taken so that the cosmetic charges are paid in the accounts of the students of various government residential schools in the State by the end of June. Officials said that this facility will be provided to about six lakh students.
As per the instructions of State government, the officials were advised to prepare a programme to make payments through direct benefit transfer (DBT) on the same day across the State. Similarly, the CS suggested that steps be taken to provide a smart card like a debit card and students can purchase the soaps and cosmetics they need through mobile sales centres run by women's groups.

As per a report by IANS news agency, UIDAI said it has started sending SMS messages to the mobile numbers registered in the Aadhaar of such children for completing the MBU exercise. As per a statement by the IT Ministry, this is an existing requirement under Aadhaar, and parents or guardians can update the details of their child at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or designated Aadhaar centre. Salem Corporation provides manure produced at MCCs to farmers for free
The Salem Corporation is providing manure produced at the micro composting centres (MCC) to farmers free of cost. The farmers can furnish their Aadhaar cards and collect the manure. The 60 wards in the Corporation generate over 550 tonnes of garbage every day, which is segregated as biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. The biodegradable waste is sent to the MCCs located at 36 places to produce manure, and the remaining is sent to the Chettichavadi dump yard. Each MCC has the capacity to produce two tonnes of manure. This manure is being provided free of cost to farmers and people involved in terrace gardening. Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan was instructed to provide this manure to farmers. The Commissioner inspected MCCs and directed the staff to distribute the manure for free. The details of manure distributed to farmers should be provided at the monthly farmers' grievances redress meetings. Civic body officials said that at present 200 tonnes of manure are available at the MCCs. The farmers can furnish their Aadhaar cards along with the application for receiving the manure. People who own terrace gardens can also apply with proper details, the officials added.
