Rishabh Pant was bought for Rs 27 crore by Sanjiv Goenka's LSG at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL.
Delhi Premier League 2025 player auction is set to take place on Sunday. The franchises will have a total purse of Rs 1.5 crore with marquee players - cricketers who have played for India or the IPL - available for base price of Rs 21 crore.
Rishabh Pant has been retained by Purani Dilli 6 team for Rs 21 crore, since he is part of the Marquee players list. "Purani Dilli 6 truly feels like home, fueled by the vibrant energy of the Delhi fans and an unparalleled hunger to win. Following a promising season last year, our determination to succeed has only intensified, and we are optimistic about returning even stronger this year," Rishabh Pant said about joining Purani Dilli 6 team.
Rishabh Pant says DPL is an 'excellent platform' for young cricketers. "The DPL serves as an excellent platform for young talent to showcase their skills and much credit is due to Rohan Jaitley and the DDCA for successfully organising this league. Many players from across the country have emerged and developed through the opportunities provided by the DPL, such as Digvesh Rathi and Priyansh Arya, among others," Pant said about DPL.
Rishabh Pant's LSG failed to reach the IPL 2025 Playoffs this year. Pant, however, scored a century in the final match of the season against eventual champions RCB.
DPL 2025 season will feature two new teams this year. The two new franchises may select one player from the remaining player pool after the original franchises finalise their retentions. The selection can be from any category - Marquee, A, B, or C.

‘It's A New One': Rishabh Pant Impressed With Harry Brook's ‘New Shot' In Test Cricket
Last Updated: Brook's sweep off Sundar took a wild deflection off the back of his bat, catching Pant off guard as the ball spun away towards the offside. Harry Brook and Jamie Smith made it a dreadful third day for India, forging a 300-plus partnership for the 6 th wicket. They kept 'bazballing' for hours, putting India's bowling attack on a limitless treadmill. The tourists had a jubilant few hours of the morning session when Siraj struck twice to take down Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes on consecutive deliveries. But what followed was misery, agony and frustration. The batting duo led England's counterpunch to swiftly sabotage the Indian ship with almost every bowler scratching his head. Meanwhile, Brook, who smashed his 9 th Test century on Friday, was trying to sweep Washington Sundar, but the ball hit the back of his bat and deflected towards the offside. Pant, while stopping the ball, was left tricked by the shot. Brook was amused too and he uttered, 'New one!". Pant replied giggling, 'New Shot Huh!" #RishabhPant 🤝 #HarryBrook @RishabhPant17 knows a fearless hitter when he sees one. 🙌 #ENGvIND 👉 2nd TEST, Day 3 | LIVE NOW on JioHotstar ➡ — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) July 4, 2025 Brook kept on mauling the Indian attack until the visitors took the new ball. Akash Deep struck after tea, cleaned up Brook for 158 with a nip-backer, and gave India hope, but also broke a record 303-run partnership for the sixth wicket against India in the longest format of the game. Earlier, England were struggling at 84-5 early on the third day after Mohammed Siraj took two wickets in consecutive balls, removing Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes for a golden duck. By tea, England had reached 355-5, trailing by 232 runs behind India's first-innings score of 567, which included captain Shubman Gill's superb double hundred. Smith came in when England was over 500 runs behind but survived Siraj's hat-trick delivery with an off-drive for four. His 80-ball hundred included 14 fours and three sixes, making him one of the few batsmen to score 100 runs before lunch in a Test session. This was Smith's second hundred in 12 Tests, matching Brook's 80-ball hundred against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in Only Gilbert Jessop (76 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (77 balls) have scored faster Test centuries for England. Yuvraj Singh reveals secrets of Shubman Gill's ‘magic' batting post India captain's 269; ‘He can score more runs'
The secret to Shubman Gill's rich form in England in the ongoing Test series lies in the work the that the Indian captain had done on his top hand, felt former cricketer and Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh. Leading the Indian Test team for the first time in his career, Gill showed no signs of leadership pressure as the right-hander came out with flying colours with 147 (in the first Test in Leeds) and 269 in the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Having scored 650 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gill continued his form in England, with two consecutive hundreds in the longest format of the game. Having started on 114 not out on Day 2, Gill showed tremendous commitment and intent to forge two big partnerships with Ravindra Jadeja (203 runs) and Washington Sundar (144 runs) to set the tone as India posted 587 in the first innings. At a time when Gill was poised to become the first Indian captain with a triple hundred in Tests, a lapse of concentration brought his downfall, thereby missing on a milestone by just 31 runs. 'Gill has worked on his top hand,' Yograj told ANI. 'He has always had an issue regarding his right hand, but I spoke to Yuvi three days ago and he told me, 'Papa, his right-hand issue has improved drastically. He can score more runs. I keep telling him not to get out'. The cover drives he played on the rise, head on top of the ball, he adjusted his right hand. It was perfect. I am told he is batting like magic. Because of the slight changes he is constantly making,' added Yograj, who had a brief international career in the eighties.
