I was in £100k debt but now have £183k saved thanks to my cheapskate hacks – but trolls say my frugal life is depressing

A SELF-PROCLAIMED ' frugal freak' was once in over £100,000 of debt, but now has more than £183,000 saved in the bank, thanks to his cheapskate hacks.
Bradley, 32, now earns cash through a number of different side hustles and while he has enough money to live lavishly, instead, he opts for an incredibly basic lifestyle.

The content creator lives in a 'cute' and 'cosy' studio home in Connecticut, USA and not only does he only own one plate and never turns the heating on, but he also claimed that he is 'too busy to spend money.'
For Bradley, who has chosen not to share his last name, keeping tight control over his finances is incredibly important.
Over a decade ago, at the age of just 21, he found himself in more than £100,000 worth of debt, and thought his 'life was over.'
After studying at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York and receiving his £104,150 debt bill, 'everything changed'.
Upon hearing about his £1,120-a-month debt, Bradley, who has 'never once bought trash bags' and instead asks friends for their old bin bags, told Metro: 'That was the birth of the frugal lifestyle.'
Now, Bradley has candidly opened up on how he turned his life around thanks to money-saving hacks, leaving social media users stunned.
Posting online, Bradley shared behind-the-scenes clips of a typical day in his life, as he said: 'Spend a no spend day with me as someone who's frugal and has $250,000 [£183,846] saved in the bank, but would rather save my money than give into consumerism and over consumption.
'And let me just say, before you say my life 'seems depressing' and 'may this life never find me' - shut up. You probably have credit card debt that you're paying the minimum balance on and I would never wanna be you.'
Bradley started his day by making a 'frugal breakfast burrito' which costs him less than $1 [74p] - and instead of oiling his saucepan with a silicone brush, he instead just used his hand.
Not only this, but rather than using three or even four eggs, he then added water to 'water them down.'
I've lived outside permanently for five years and eat roadkill, people are disgusted but it's saved me £65k
Later in the clip, Bradley, who earns at least £8,000 per month through multiple jobs - including TikTok content creation, dog sitting, answering calls on a crisis hotline, cleaning houses and mowing lawns - confirmed: 'I do have a new side hustle, which is cleaning up someone's driveway when it snows.'
But rather than forking out cash on the equipment, he borrowed some from his parents, as he added: 'I hate the cold and I hate the snow but I'll do anything for money so whatever, I just suck it up and deal with it.'
Following this, after getting home and cooking dinner, Bradley sat down to watch some YouTube, but confirmed: 'I don't have any subscriptions, I've never paid for subscriptions, I think it's stupid.'
Money saving challenges
Here's some of our favourite money saving challenges.
Weather saving challenge - Save the amount equal to whatever the highest temperature was that week. £1 = 1C.
1p challenge - save 1p a day for everyday of the year, but it increase the amount by 1p each day. So day one you save 1p, 2p on day two and 3p on day three. When you reach 100 days you start adding a £1 coin each day too, while this increases to a £2 coin each day plus pennies at 200 days, and £3 each day on top of pennies at day 300.
20p a day challenge - Start by putting 20p in savings, then increase the amount by 20p every day. For example, the first week will look like this: 20p, 40p, 60p, 80p, £1, £1.20, £1.40.
£5 a week challenge - Like the 20p challenge, put aside £5 a week and increase it by a fiver each week. Eg £5, £10, £15, £20
Round-up challenge - Every time you buy something, round up the purchase to the nearest £1 and put the difference in a savings account. Eg. You pay £2.60, so you put 40p in savings. You can use an app such as Monzo or Starling to do this.
Bingo challenge - Here you have a bingo card with different numbers on it and you tick them off when you've put that amount in your savings account. It can be ad hoc but you have to tick them all off by the end of the month.
Monday to Sunday challenge - With this challenge, you simply save £1 on Monday, £2 on Tuesday and so on until the weekend where you don't save on Saturday or Sunday.
365 day challenge - Every Sunday you put aside £1, followed by £2 on Monday, £3 on Wednesday and so on. On Saturday you'll put away £7, and then the process repeats and you'll put aside £1 on Sunday as the new week begins
Social media users react
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ baddie.brad, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and amassed 5.8 million views, 652,200 likes and 5,595 comments.
But social media users were stunned by his 'crazy' way of living and eagerly raced to the comments to express this.
Let me just say, before you say my life 'seems depressing' and 'may this life never find me' - shut up
Bradley
One person said: 'Water in the eggs is crazy.'
Another added: 'May this life NEVER find me.'
A third commented: 'My dude I'm great at saving money but this ain't it... I'm all for saving as much money as possible but you also need to enjoy your life.'
Meanwhile, someone else begged: 'Please just buy a silicone brush, you can use everyday for the rest of your life. It is not expensive.'

Inside Brittany Mahomes' astronomically priced jewelry collection that features dazzling tie to Patrick

Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is no stranger to wearing extravagant game day outfits - and she has a jewelry collection that's worth nearly $200,000 to match. The 29-year-old is perhaps one of the most well-known WAGs in the NFL, even getting close to Taylor Swift over the past few years as her husband is teammates with the A-lister's boyfriend, Travis Kelce. In the past, she has made headlines for the elaborate, Chiefs-themed outfits she wears to games as she cheers on her high school sweetheart from the sidelines. In 2024, she and Swift even rocked matching custom Chiefs puffer coats designed by San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk's wife, Kristin Juszczyk, who now has her own collection in partnership with the NFL. But while she wears glamorous outfits, she also seems to have a penchant for fine jewelry, especially favoring Van Cleef and & Arpels, a brand she can be seen wearing in several photos on Instagram. While celebrating the Fourth of July this weekend with her husband and their friends, Brittany accessorized her bright blue cut-out bathing suit with a $65,000, 10-motif, white gold and diamond necklace from Van Cleef. The necklace featured the brand's signature Alhambra pendants. For the holiday, which they celebrated on a boat, she paired the pricey jewels with a casual white button-down with red and blue stars on it, along with a trucker hat that read '1995.' Of course, as a fan of the brand, the 10-motif designer necklace isn't the only thing she has from the high jewelry designer. She also owns the one-motif version of the white gold and diamond necklace, which retails for $8,950. The mom-of-three paired the necklace with a chic stack with a strapless red leather bustier when the Chiefs won the 2024 Super Bowl. Brittany has often been seen wearing the five-motif vintage Alhambra bracelet in 18k yellow gold around her wrist, which retails for $6,850. She rocked the bracelet on gameday in September when the Chiefs faced the Cincinnati Bengals, and paired with a casual, oversized Chiefs tee when they played the Detroit Lions in August last year. It's also a piece that she also seems to wear in everyday life, whether that be enjoying a cocktail in Las Vegas or on vacation with Patrick and their kids. Aside from Van Cleef & Arpels, Brittany has a lot of other jewelry pieces by various designers in her collection. She has appeared to wear a few bracelets from Cartier in the past, including the $8,550 white gold Juste un Clou, and the $30,400 white gold paved small Love bracelet. Brittany wore her Cartier stack to the 2023 ESPY awards, which looked elegant with a black Versace cutout dress and elaborate, curled updo. The Sports Illustrated model will also rock lab diamonds on occasion, as she did while watching her husband in this year's Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. She sported a $73,000 necklace diamond necklace from Vrai, which she wore with a white corset with jacket and jeans. Brittany also wore a large, diamond-encrusted '15' necklace created by Simon G Fine Jewelry while watching the Chiefs defeat the 49ers at last year's Super Bowl - her husband's jersey number. But not all of her jewelry costs a pretty penny - the mom-of-three also owns one bubble-letter style pendant from affordable brand BaubleBar, something she sported in a photo op with Taylor Swift during an early October game. Her recent Fourth of July celebration comes just weeks after she penned an emotional tribute to Patrick on Father's Day in June. She has appeared to wear a few bracelets from Cartier in the past, including the $8,550 white gold Juste un Clou, and $30,400 white gold paved small Love bracelet Brittany posted a number of photos of their family to her Instagram account to honor him. 'Happy Father's Day to our rock! The most incredible, loyal most fun dad everrrrrr! The way you love us is unmatched!' Brittany captioned the post. 'You never let a day go by without letting these kids know how special they are! We love you.' Patrick replied to Brittany's post, saying 'Love yall!' while adding a red heart emoji. The photos showed Patrick and Brittany Mahomes alongside their three children: Sterling, four, Patrick 'Bronze' Mahomes III, two, and newborn daughter Golden.

How to make the best veggie burgers

My veggie burgers are so often underwhelming, or they simply fall apart. Where am I going wrong?Beth, Newark'Veggie burgers are often lacking in everything that's good about food,' says Melissa Hemsley, author of Real Healthy, and for her, that means texture, flavour and satisfaction. 'They also tend not to have those key flavour highs – the fat, the salt – that you're after from a homemade version.' For Lukas Volger, author of Veggie Burgers Every Which Way, texture is by far the complaint he hears most often: 'The patty is too moist, and glops out of the other side of the bun when you bite into it.' Veggie burgers often behave like this, Volger says, because vegetables contain water, so you'll either need to cook the veg in advance or add something to the mix to soak it up, whether that's breadcrumbs or grains. And remember, size isn't everything: 'I used to love the look of a thick, substantial burger,' Volger says, 'but I've come to realise that they function much better on a bun when they're thin and seared until crisp on each side in a hot pan, smash burger-style.' (Alternatively, bake in a moderate oven to 'help them dry out a little' before grilling.) This will also help if you've ever fallen victim to burgers falling through those barbecue grates. Volger's burger vision often starts by giving a vegetable 'a point of view', which is to say a flavour pairing: carrot with almond, say, sweet potato with sesame, or kale with ginger. He builds from there with spices, fresh herbs, a flavour bomb (think miso or harissa) or nut butter, plus 'something to provide body'. For Hemsley, that might mean chickpea flour ('it's cheap and naturally gluten-free), an egg ('that's always good'), or beans or lentils, although the latter will need 'bags of flavour' to keep the burgers from being boring. 'That's why Bold Beans are so good,' Hemsley adds, 'because their beans have a lovely, salty brine.' On to the specifics, and Hemsley always flips out over a black bean and feta number: 'It's one of my favourite burgers ever, and I'd happily eat it instead of a meat one any day of the week.' Her patty also has onions and grated garlic in there, plus dried oregano or thyme, sun-dried tomatoes ('for juiciness, flavour and salt'), and jalapeños ('for the brininess and hit of chilli'). 'I usually add an egg, too, to up the protein. I hate to be that person who talks about protein, but I do think it helps keep you sated.' As a bonus, these burgers freeze well, too, and Hemsley often turns the base mix into meatballs to eat with tomato sauce and couscous or rice. Volger, meanwhile, is 'very into' a grated halloumi burger, for which the cheese is stirred into softened onions with garlic and harissa, then combined with beaten egg, panko breadcrumbs, minced herbs (parsley, coriander, mint, dill) and cornflour. 'My next plan is to make a red lentil and sweet potato Thai red curry burger,' Hemsley says, 'so hold the front page.' She's planning on serving thatwith a coriander, mint and coconut chutney, which is a good lesson never, ever to forget the importance of your burger accoutrements. As Volger puts it: 'A slice of cheese and a mess of burger condiments can salvage most veggie burgers.' Got a culinary dilemma? Email feast@

Former Mets star lists $30M ranch where now-infamous 'wild boar' injury took place

After officially retiring from his baseball playing days, a former New York Mets star is selling his mega mansion that was built around the corner from the team's spring training base. Former outfielder Yoenis Cespedes hasn't played in the MLB for five years and is now ready to let go of his massive mansion in Port St. Lucie, Florida - at the price of $30million. Sitting on 400 acres, Cespedes' sprawling home features creature comforts and lavish luxuries. However, Mets fans will remember this house as the site of a well-publicized run-in with a wild boar that led to the star missing playing time. Called 'La Potencia II' (translated to 'The Power'), the 16,000-square-foot main residence features six bedrooms and five bathrooms. Additionally, on the inside, you'll find a massive main living room with a fire place, a massive eat-in kitchen, a games room with a pool table, and an extravagant all-glass wine room next to an ornate bar. Multiple other living rooms are dotted throughout the residence - which also features the likes of walk-in closets and elegant bathrooms. Outside, there's a gorgeous patio - complete with its own kitchen, eating space, and a wet bar. There's also a decadent heated pool - with a separate hot tub and an attached water feature. But there's also plenty of features that indicate this was the home of a professional athlete. Not only is there a stocked barber shop, there's also a well-equipped gym as well as a separate batting cage. Finally, when you step out of the enclosure, you'll find a stable for 12 horses as well as a training facility for the equine creatures attached to the property. Of course, Mets fans remember this mansion as the site of an infamous injury that Cespedes sustained from a 'wild boar' in 2019. While the Mets general manager at the time said that Cespedes sustained a broken ankle in a 'violent fall', it was later reported that the two-time All-Star actually had a run-in with the wild animal. Cespedes tried mounting an MLB comeback in 2024, but that was unsuccessful. The 39-year-old won a Gold Glove award, a Silver Slugger award, and two Home Run Derby competitions throughout his eight year career in the majors.
