TAMPA BAY, Fla. — KnowBe4, the world-renowned cybersecurity platform that comprehensively addresses human risk management, today launched its 'Phishing by Industry Benchmarking Report 2025' which measures an organization's Phish-prone™ Percentage (PPP) — the percentage of employees likely to fall for social engineering or phishing attacks, indicating the organization's overall susceptibility to phishing threats. This year's report found a global average baseline PPP of 33.1%, meaning a third of employees interact with phishing simulations before taking part in best-practice security awareness training (SAT).
Article content
The data underscores the significant impact of SAT in mitigating risk. The rapid decline in the global PPP following the implementation of training — falling by 40% in just three months and by a total of 86% after 12 months — demonstrates that ongoing, effective training leads to lasting behavior change and a substantial reduction in vulnerability to cybersecurity threats. This highlights the critical role of continuous education in building a stronger security culture within organizations, even in as little as three months.
Article content
KnowBe4 analyzed 67.7 million phishing simulations globally, across 14.5 million users from 62.4 thousand organizations. The baseline PPP (33.1%) reflects an organization's susceptibility to phishing before any KnowBe4 training. Employees then undergo KnowBe4's SAT, and the PPP is recalculated after 90 days and again after one year-plus of ongoing training to quantify the program's effectiveness.
Article content
Globally, the top three most at-risk industries with the highest baseline PPP were Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals (41.9%), Insurance (39.2%), and Retail & Wholesale (36.5%).
Larger organizations faced a higher initial phishing risk, with those having 10,000+ employees showing a global baseline PPP of 40.5%, compared to 24.6% for organizations with 1-250 employees.
In organizations of 1,000-9,999 employees, three sectors all achieved PPP improvement rates of 91% after 12 months of on-going training: Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals, Hospitality and Legal.
Across the different regions, the highest baseline PPPs were found in South America (39.1%), North America (37.1%), and Australia and New Zealand (36.8%).

'The data speaks for itself — security awareness training truly makes a difference,' said Stu Sjouwerman, CEO of KnowBe4. 'From 2024 to 2025, the general trend has remained fairly consistent — around one-third of employees click on a simulated phishing link before taking part in training. However, the data shows a slight improvement in 2025. Within a year, we've seen a 3.5% decrease in the global baseline PPP, highlighting a positive shift in overall security awareness worldwide. However, there is still significant progress to be made in fully addressing phishing risks. By consistently prioritizing relevant and engaging training, combined with simulated phishing, organizations can strengthen their human risk management strategies and better protect against phishing to improve overall security culture.'

The Best Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stock to Buy With the Market At All-Time Highs

Key Points Alphabet stock is still trading at a cheap multiple. It has many growth vectors to benefit from artificial intelligence. Margin can help the company's profits explode in the next few years. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › The S&P 500 keeps soaring to new highs, making it feel impossible to find a cheap large-cap stock to buy today. This is especially true in technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Stocks such as Nvidia and Microsoft have price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios approaching 40 or higher, making them risky for investors. Growth expectations are high for many companies, which can make it increasingly difficult to buy stocks for your investment portfolio, especially if you care about value investing. That isn't the case with every AI stock. Here's why Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL) is the one AI stock you can buy right now with stocks at all-time highs. Alphabet's matrix of growth Some pundits have deemed Alphabet -- parent company of Google -- an AI loser because of competition from ChatGPT. I think this underplays the big picture. Alphabet has perhaps the most to gain from AI through its various subsidiaries, while also employing the best data advantage of any big technology player because of all the user data from Google, YouTube, and other properties. AI is not going to eliminate Google Search -- it will take it to the next level. AI overviews are already growing like a weed for Google Search results, while the Gemini chatbot is helping with advanced conversational queries. An explosion in new AI technologies will greatly expand the addressable market for Google and its related properties. That's why revenue is growing at a 10% annual rate for Google Services, even though it generated $77 billion in revenue just in the first quarter. Another way Alphabet can benefit from AI demand is Google Cloud, which is growing revenue at an astonishing 28% year-over-year clip, and is close to surpassing $50 billion in annualized revenue (it may surpass that mark next quarter). AI workloads will need huge amounts of specialized computing power to function, which Google Cloud is set to provide. Let's not forget self-driving start-up Waymo, which is taking over the streets of America's big cities, using Alphabet's infrastructure, engineering, and AI expertise. It is an entire matrix of growth for Alphabet that can be supercharged by AI. Profit margin expansion? AI requires a lot of upfront spending on data centers and computer chips in order to train and operate. Alphabet is planning to spend $75 billion on capital expenditures in 2025, mostly related to AI. This will increase depreciation and require steady growth in order to get a return on this investment, which some investors are skeptical about. Google Cloud used to be unprofitable, but it posted an 18% operating margin last quarter, a number that can keep expanding as it reaches larger scale. Due to these factors plus better hiring efficiency employed by Alphabet coming out of the pandemic, I think Alphabet's profit margins are set to keep inching higher over the next few years. Its operating margin recently hit a record of 33%. With huge operating leverage on its fixed-cost investments, I think this figure can grow to 40% over the long term, which is similar to Microsoft. With revenue at $359 billion that could grow to $400 billion or even $500 billion within a decade, a 40% operating margin could help Alphabet grow its operating income to $200 billion within a few years. That would make it the most profitable company in the world. GOOG PE Ratio data by YCharts. Buybacks and a cheap stock With all the earnings flowing to its balance sheet, Alphabet is returning capital to shareholders through buybacks and dividends. It pays a dividend yielding 0.42% that is set to grow steadily, while shares outstanding have fallen by 12% in the last 10 years. Alphabet plans to keep repurchasing stock at these cheap prices. It has a P/E ratio of 21, which is the cheapest among the " Magnificent Seven" stocks. This is shocking to see, given how much Alphabet can benefit from AI and cloud computing growth. Add everything up, and Alphabet looks like a fantastic stock to buy today, even with the market at all-time highs. Where to invest $1,000 right now When our analyst team has a stock tip, it can pay to listen. After all, Stock Advisor's total average return is 1,040%* — a market-crushing outperformance compared to 182% for the S&P 500. US-China trade talks: Can China reduce its export dependence?

BEIJING (AP) — China's high dependence on exports will likely be a key focus of a new round of U.S.-China trade talks this coming week in Stockholm, but a trade deal would not necessarily help Beijing to rebalance its economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said he hopes the negotiations can take up this issue, along with China's purchases of oil from Russia and Iran, which undercut American sanctions on those two countries. Hopes rose for a breakthrough in talks after U.S. President Donald Trump announced deals with Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines this week. The U.S. wants China to do two things: Reduce what both the U.S. and the European Union see as excess production capacity in many industries, including steel and electric vehicles. And secondly, to take steps to increase spending by Chinese consumers so the economy relies more on domestic demand and less on exports. 'We could also discuss the elephant in the room, which is this great rebalancing that the Chinese need to do,' Bessent told financial news network CNBC. He said China's share of global manufacturing exports at nearly 30%, 'can't get any bigger, and it should probably shrink.' China is tackling the same issues — for domestic reasons The issues are not new, and China has been working to address them for years, more for domestic reasons than to reduce its trade surpluses with the U.S. and other countries. Bessent's predecessor as treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, made industrial policy a focus of a trip to China last year. She blamed government subsidies for flooding the global market with 'artificially cheap Chinese products.' The European Union, whose top leaders met their Chinese counterparts in Beijing on Thursday, has cited subsidies to justify EU tariffs on electric vehicles made in China. In the 1980s, the U.S. pressured Japan to boost consumer spending when American manufacturing was overwhelmed by exports from the likes of Toyota and Sony. Economists have long argued that China likewise needs to transform into a more consumer-driven economy. Consumer spending accounts for less than 40% of China's economy, versus close to 70% in the United States and about 54% in Japan. Chinese leaders have spoken about both factory overcapacity and weak consumer spending as long-term problems and have sought over the past 20 years to find ways to rebalance the economy away from export manufacturing and massive investments in dams, roads, railways and other infrastructure. Fierce price wars have prompted critical reports in official media saying that companies are 'racing to the bottom,' skimping on quality and even safety to reduce costs. With strong government support, they've also expanded overseas, where they can charge higher prices but still undercut local competitors, creating a political backlash. Economists say China needs a consumer-driven economy All that competition and price cutting has left China battling deflation, or falling prices. When companies receive less for their products, they tend to invest less. That can lead to job cuts and lower wages, sapping business activity and spending power — contrary to the long-term goal of increasing the share of consumer spending in driving overall growth. To counter that, the government is spending billions on rebates and subsidies for people who trade in their cars or appliances for new ones. But acknowledging a problem and solving it are two different things. Economists say more fundamental changes are needed to boost consumption and rein in overcapacity. Such changes can only come incrementally over time. Private Chinese companies and foreign-invested companies create the most jobs, but they've suffered from swings in policy and pressures from the trade war, especially since the pandemic. Demographic changes are another challenge as China's population shrinks and ages. Many experts advocate expanding China's social safety net, health insurance, pensions and other support systems, so that people would feel freer to spend rather than save for a medical emergency or retirement. Yan Se, an economist at Peking University's Guanghua School of Management, warned at a recent forum that deflation will become a long-term issue if China doesn't step up its welfare benefits. 'Chinese people deserve a better life," he said. Facing external threats, China wants to be more self-reliant One possibility, put forward at the same forum by Liu Qiao, the dean of the business school, would be to change incentives for local government officials, rewarding them for raising consumption or household incomes instead of meeting an economic growth target. He doesn't see that happening nationwide but said it could be tested in a province. 'That would send out a message that China needs a different approach,' he said. Chinese leader Xi Jinping has made transforming the country into a technology superpower a top priority. It's a goal that has gained urgency as the U.S. has tightened restrictions on China's access to high-end semiconductors and other advanced knowhow. Output in high-tech manufacturing is growing quickly, adding to potential overcapacity, just as what happened with the government's encouragement of 'green' technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines. Various industries, including EV makers, have pledged to address the issue, but some local governments are striving to keep money-losing enterprises afloat, reluctant to lose tax revenues and jobs, or to fail to meet economic growth targets. Going forward, the government is calling for more coordination of economic development polices in fields such as artificial intelligence so that not every province champions the same industry. But government moves to counter the impact of higher tariffs tend to support sectors already in overcapacity, and the share of consumption in the economy has fallen in recent years. 'A sustained improvement in household consumption will require greater reform ambition,' the World Bank said in its most recent update on China's economy."
