TDP used Mahanadu to target YSRCP leaders, alleges MLC Botcha Satyanarayana
'The TDP leaders used the event as a platform to launch a diatribe against YSRCP leaders and divert attention from the failures of the NDA government,' Mr. Satyanarayana told the media at his camp office on Saturday.
'The TDP Mahanadu was drama. Political parties use such platforms, especially while in power, to highlight their achievements in welfare and development. However, the TDP's focus remained on criticising the YSRCP,' he said and asked why the TDP leaders failed to announce specific dates for the welfare schemes promised by them.
Mr. Satyanarayana criticised that NDA government for renaming the YSR district as YSR Kadapa. 'During the YSRCP's tenure, NTR district was named after the former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, N.T. Rama Rao. Will the NDA government change its name to NTR Vijayawada district?' he asked.
Evaluation of SSC papers
The former Education Minister alleged irregularities in the evaluation of Class X (SSC) exam answer scripts. 'A majority of the 16,000 students who applied for re-evaluation were found to be victims of grossly mishandled paper correction. Some students who initially received 20 marks were found to have scored 90 marks after revaluation. This reflects the utter negligence and careless approach with which the answer scripts were evaluated,' he said.
He demanded that the Education Department announce how many papers each evaluator was asked to assess daily.
'Vennupotu Dinam'
The YSRCP MLC said that the party would organise 'Vennupotu Dinam' on June 4 to 'highlight the TDP's failures in implementing its election promises'.

Voter Rolls Glue Opposition Together, Raise Hopes In Vice-President Polls
New Delhi: The Opposition is hoping for better luck in the coming vice-presidential election after the Election Commission's voter roll revision acted as a unifying factor for parties like Trinamool Congress - which is expecting the exercise to be repeated in their states ahead of next year's election. Congress's Rahul Gandhi has invited the leaders of India Alliance for a dinner meeting on August 7 - a day before its protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission. The agenda of the meeting includes the Vice Presidential election and the alliance is expected to decide on a candidate. A senior leader of bloc told NDTV that the Opposition is looking for a candidate who will make the election interesting. The leaders feel the mathematics of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is such that if a strong candidate is fielded for the post, the the contest will not be one-sided like last time, sources said. Last time, the Trinamool Congress - which had 35 MPs --had abstained from voting, contending that they were not consulted during the selection of Margaret Alva. This time, the Trinamool Congress has maintained unity with the opposition, including the Congress on the issue of SIR, anticipating that the exercise will be carried out in Bengal ahead of next year's assembly election. The leaders feel the open question now is if the Opposition forwards a candidate from Bihar or Andhra Pradesh, what will NDA allies Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu do, sources said. Since the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, the NDA has also been looking for a suitable candidate for the post. It is believed that this time BJP will pick one of its key leaders who can run the Rajya Sabha properly. The date of the Vice Presidential election has already been announced. The voting will be held on September 9, in which 543 MPs from the Lok Sabha and 233 from the Rajya Sabha will participate. The 12 nominated MPs of Rajya Sabha will also take part in the election. In 2022, Jagdeep Dhankhar had got 528 votes - way ahead of Opposition candidate Margaret Alva, who polled 182. Mr Dhankhar had the support of several non-NDA parties - Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal, Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party, Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (which is now part of NDA), and the Akali Dal. Fifty-five MPs did not cast their vote. Asked who would be the next Vice President, Congress's Shashi Tharoor said he had "no idea". "All we know is that it will be somebody whom the ruling party nominates, as we already know the composition of the electorate. It's the two houses of Parliament. Unlike the Presidential election, where the state assemblies also vote. For the Vice President, it's only the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. So we already know the majority. I think it's fairly clear that the next vice president will be the nominee of the ruling party," he said.

Giriraj: Assembly polls fight between Sanatan and those opposed to it
Patna: Senior BJP leader and Union minister on Sunday slammed Congress MP and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav for questioning the process of electoral rolls revision in Bihar. He said the coming assembly elections in Bihar will be fought between Sanatan and those opposed to it. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Singh was on a two-day visit to Sitamarhi district where Union home minister Amit Shah and CM Nitish Kumar will lay the foundation stone for a grand temple of Mata Sita at Punaura Dham on Aug 8. The Begusarai MP not only invited people for the foundation laying ceremony of the Sita temple, but also attacked the opposition. Targeting Tejashwi, he asked, "What was the need to hide the name and identity of his wife? If she was a Christian, what was wrong in it? India accepts everyone." He even mentioned Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and said when the country accepted her, then Tejashwi's wife is also the daughter of this country. The firebrand leader also defined 'SIR' (special intensive revision) of the electoral rolls in Bihar in a new way. He said, "Today, politics is being run in the name of SIR (S for Sonia, I for Imran and R for Rahul)." He called Rahul "boss" and said, "Now the govt of terrorists will not be allowed to be formed." He accused the opposition of creating a ruckus on the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators and fake voters and said the NDA govt has strengthened the country's economic condition and national security, which was weakened by the previous Congress regimes. Attacking the UPA in the context of the proposed Sita temple, Giriraj said, "Those who even rejected Ram Setu cannot give importance to Janaki's temple? Today the Modi govt is engaged in establishing the glory of Mata Sita on the world stage." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He further said the next govt in Bihar will be formed by the NDA under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar. In a programme held at Nageshwar Sthan temple complex in Pupri town, Singh appealed to the people to participate in the foundation stone laying event of Mata Sita's temple on Aug 8. He said like Ayodhya, a grand temple of Mata Sita will be built in Sitamarhi, too. He appealed to the Sanatanis to remain united. "If the number of Sanatanis decreases, democracy will be in danger," he said.
