TDP used Mahanadu to target YSRCP leaders, alleges MLC Botcha Satyanarayana
'The TDP leaders used the event as a platform to launch a diatribe against YSRCP leaders and divert attention from the failures of the NDA government,' Mr. Satyanarayana told the media at his camp office on Saturday.
'The TDP Mahanadu was drama. Political parties use such platforms, especially while in power, to highlight their achievements in welfare and development. However, the TDP's focus remained on criticising the YSRCP,' he said and asked why the TDP leaders failed to announce specific dates for the welfare schemes promised by them.
Mr. Satyanarayana criticised that NDA government for renaming the YSR district as YSR Kadapa. 'During the YSRCP's tenure, NTR district was named after the former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, N.T. Rama Rao. Will the NDA government change its name to NTR Vijayawada district?' he asked.
Evaluation of SSC papers
The former Education Minister alleged irregularities in the evaluation of Class X (SSC) exam answer scripts. 'A majority of the 16,000 students who applied for re-evaluation were found to be victims of grossly mishandled paper correction. Some students who initially received 20 marks were found to have scored 90 marks after revaluation. This reflects the utter negligence and careless approach with which the answer scripts were evaluated,' he said.
He demanded that the Education Department announce how many papers each evaluator was asked to assess daily.
'Vennupotu Dinam'
The YSRCP MLC said that the party would organise 'Vennupotu Dinam' on June 4 to 'highlight the TDP's failures in implementing its election promises'.

New Delhi: The Opposition is hoping for better luck in the coming vice-presidential election after the Election Commission's voter roll revision acted as a unifying factor for parties like Trinamool Congress - which is expecting the exercise to be repeated in their states ahead of next year's election. Congress's Rahul Gandhi has invited the leaders of India Alliance for a dinner meeting on August 7 - a day before its protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission. Last time, the Trinamool Congress - which had 35 MPs --had abstained from voting, contending that they were not consulted during the selection of Margaret Alva. This time, the Trinamool Congress has maintained unity with the opposition, including the Congress on the issue of SIR, anticipating that the exercise will be carried out in Bengal ahead of next year's assembly election. The leaders feel the open question now is if the Opposition forwards a candidate from Bihar or Andhra Pradesh, what will NDA allies Nitish Kumar and Chandra Babu Naidu do, sources said. Since the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, the NDA has also been looking for a suitable candidate for the post. It is believed that this time BJP will pick one of its key leaders who can run the Rajya Sabha properly. The date of the Vice Presidential election has already been announced. The voting will be held on September 9, in which 543 MPs from the Lok Sabha and 233 from the Rajya Sabha will participate. The 12 nominated MPs of Rajya Sabha will also take part in the election. "All we know is that it will be somebody whom the ruling party nominates, as we already know the composition of the electorate. It's the two houses of Parliament. Unlike the Presidential election, where the state assemblies also vote. For the Vice President, it's only the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. So we already know the majority. I think it's fairly clear that the next vice president will be the nominee of the ruling party," he said.

First rail engine chugs off on Kanigiri railway tracks as SCR conducts maiden trial run
Vijayawada: The first rail engine chugged off on the railway tracks of the Kanigiri railway station as the South Central Railway (SCR) authorities conducted a maiden trial run using a diesel rail engine in Kanigiri, which is part of the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti railway line. On Sunday, the railway authorities conducted the trial run from Nadikudi to Kanigiri railway station.
