Suaram says two activists arrested over attempt to meet Home Ministry officials on Sosma issues
The group said duo had been waiting for two and a half hours at the Home Ministry (KDN) earlier in the week for their promised entry pass but were allegedly ignored by police and Rela personnel.
'''Before the police arrived this morning, they had informed the two that they were coming to serve a 111 notice, but ambushed them with an arrest instead,' the group said in Facebook post.
The two had been at KDN to discuss issues related to the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) but were prevented from entering.
Sevan is currently under arrest and is expected to be questioned by the authorities regarding the incident.
Suaram condemned the arrests as an act of intimidation against human rights defenders.
A lawyer representing the activists is en route to IPD Putrajaya to seek legal access and ensure their rights are upheld.

Bitcoin price hits all-time high as 'crypto week' begins
Bitcoin's (BTC-USD) price headed to fresh heights against the US dollar on Monday as the US looks ahead to a potentially big week of legislative change for the crypto industry with key votes on the agenda. Bitcoin was changing hands above the $122,000 mark on Monday morning, up 3.3%, having hit all-time highs earlier. Year-on-year the cryptocurrency's price has more than doubled following the election of US president Donald Trump. Trump has carved out a reputation as being a digital asset-friendly president, having spoken at a bitcoin conference in the run-up to his election and his family launching their own crypto business and affiliated token — the ethics of which are up for debate. 'Donald Trump has talked about making America the crypto capital of the world, and now the market is hoping those words become reality," said Dan Coatsworth, investment analyst at AJ Bell. This implies some FOMO (fear of missing out), a trend we've seen plenty of times in the past when bitcoin hit the headlines. 'Crypto believers are convinced digital assets are the future of finance. While there is certainly momentum in terms of investor, government and corporate interest, it is not a slam dunk. There are still more questions than answers.' This week, a number of important laws are set to be voted on by lawmakers in the US. Investment platform AJ Bell explains: The Clarity Act — aka The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. This aims to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets including cryptocurrencies. The Genius Act — aka The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act. This aims to create the first federal regulatory framework for payment stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies whose prices are pegged to another currency. The US Senate last month approved the bill, an event that is already considered to be a major milestone in the evolution of crypto. While the Act is still subject to consideration by the House of Representatives, crypto fans are hopeful it will sail through. The Act is significant as it is designed to enable private companies to issue stablecoins, and Amazon and Walmart have already indicated a desire to be among the first issuers. The CBDC Act — aka The Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act. This aims to stop the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency. Bitcoin's price action also buoyed the rest of the market, with ethereum (ETH-USD), the second largest cryptocurrency, rising above the $3,000 mark, up 2.8% on Monday. Exchange-listed stocks were higher, too. Crypto fund Strategy Incorporated (MSTR) (formerly known as MicroStrategy) and crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN) also rallied in premarket trading. It is unclear at the time of publication if this investigation is ongoing, or if there will be a separate investigation into the person who left the bear at the bus stop. What To Know The bear was discovered on July 13 and then reported to police, who cordoned off the area where it was found. DarkSeedCreations wrote on Facebook to say he had sold a bear to someone in the Victorville area last week, but "did not have any knowledge of the buyers['] intentions." His Facebook page shows a number of disturbing creations, ranging from fake skulls to large creatures covered in what appears to be fake human skin. These works also appear on his Etsy site. Comments under his posts about the prank include "The break you are waiting for" and "At least you're gonna get more business from the article lol." What People Are Saying DarkSeedCreations on Facebook: "Yes I made the bear in the news video. Yes that's my etsy shop screenshotted on [the] news articles. Yes I did ship that bear to an etsy customer in Victorville CA last week. Yes you can still order one too. No I did not have any knowledge of the buyers intentions nor was I involved in a prank on the other side of the nation from me." What Happens Next It is unclear at this time whether the investigation into the teddy bear is ongoing. More than 20 people have this type of teddy bear from DarkSeedCreation's Etsy site in their Etsy baskets.
