Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following complaints from three women, according to UK police on Friday.
The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2022.
The Metropolitan Police began their investigation in February 2022 after receiving the initial complaint. The rape charges involve two women, while the sexual assault charge relates to a third woman.
Partey's lawyer Jenny Wiltshire issued a statement saying: "He denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further," as quoted by AFP.
The Ghana international, who was charged just four days after departing the North London club, is scheduled to appear in court in central London on August 5.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who leads the investigation team, emphasized their priority is "providing support to the women who have come forward."
He also encouraged anyone "impacted by the case" or "who has information" to contact the police.

Wimbledon 2025, Day 7: Taylor Fritz advances to quarterfinals; Aryna Sabalenka, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also through

Taylor Fritz (AP Photo) Taylor Fritz moved into the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the third time in four years on Sunday, though not in the fashion he would have preferred. The No. 5 seed advanced after Australian Jordan Thompson was forced to retire due to injury, trailing 6-1, 3-0 after just 41 minutes of play. Thompson, who entered the match carrying back and leg issues, took a medical timeout early in the second set but was unable to continue after a brief attempt to play through the pain. 'Just played a lot of tennis on a body that shouldn't have been, and it just took its toll,' the unseeded Australian said after the match. Fritz, who had battled through multiple five-setters earlier in the tournament, acknowledged the unfortunate circumstances: 'It's obviously not the way I want to go through. It's just sad... Respect to him for coming out. His body's not right.' The American will next face No. 17 seed Karen Khachanov, who defeated Poland's Kamil Majchrzak 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. While Khachanov holds a 2-0 record over Fritz, their last meeting was back in 2020. 'We practice all the time, so we're pretty familiar with each other's games,' Fritz said. 'But I think I've improved a ton since then.' Akash Deep (BCCI Photo) NEW DELHI: Akash Deep delivered a stunning performance with the ball to play a pivotal role in India's landmark victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston. The fast bowler revealed that his elder sister has been battling cancer for the past two months and dedicated his match-winning performance to her. "I have not told this to anyone. My elder sister has been suffering from cancer for the last two months. She is now stable, and she is fine. I think she will be the happiest (seeing my performance). I want to dedicate this match to her. I wanted to see a smile on her face," Akash said after the game. He added an emotional message for her: "This is for you. Whenever I held the ball in my hand, your face was in my mind. I want to see happiness in your face. We are all with you." WATCH: India's 336-run triumph also ended a long wait for a win at Edgbaston, where they had previously played eight Tests — losing seven and drawing one. This dominant victory also became India's biggest Test win away from home in terms of runs, overtaking their 318-run win against the West Indies in 2019.
