Harish Rao appears before PC Ghose Commission
The Commission has earlier served notices to him, and BRS president & former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, and Eatala Rajender — former Finance Minister and current BJP MP.
Mr. Rajender appeared before the Commission on June 6 and said that his role in the project was limited to releasing funds allocated in the budget. Mr. Chandrashekar Rao is likely to appear on Wednesday (June 11, 2025).
Mr. Harish Rao through a PowerPoint Presentation on Saturday defended change of location, how the project changed the agriculture landscape of the State, increase in costs and other aspects.

BRS demands govt. to switch motors of all LISs to allow ryots take up Kharif crops early
HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has demanded that the State Government enable farmers of the ayacut under projects linked to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project to take up cultivation of Kharif crops early by switching on the motors of Kannepally pump house as lifting of 2 tmc ft of water every day is still possible. Former Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao warned that if the government failed to switch on the motors of Kalwakurthy LIS early, the Opposition party would lead the ayacut farmers to the pump house to switch on the motors of Kalwakurthy, Kannepally and other pump houses on their own. Commencing the lifting of water at Kannepally pump house would provide water for irrigation in 15 districts, but the Congress government was foregoing the opportunity as the Chief Minister himself would not know the value of water, he said at a press conference on Sunday. He pointed out that water withdrawal from the Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme was not taken up so far, though Srisailam project was getting flooded from May 30 itself, and as on Sunday morning, the reservoir had received over 172 tmc ft water with the help of early rains in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He mentioned that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had given away 65 tmc ft additional water to Andhra Pradesh during the last year as Telangana had underutilised its share — only 28% of 811 tmc ft against 34% — for the first time since the formation of Telangana. Due to this, crop holiday was implemented in several areas of the combined Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts during the second crop season last year (2024-25) as water was drawn by A.P. for the third crop, Mr. Harish Rao said and added that the Congress government was trying to repeat the same this year too by delaying water withdrawal as also the first crop season under the Krishna Basin projects. He said the government could run all lift irrigation schemes and fill linked reservoirs, minor irrigation tanks and check-dams to allow farmers to take up Kharif crops early so that water could be stored for the second crop too.

Why is KTR holding secret talks with A.P. Minister: Congress
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) media committee chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy alleged that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao was holding secret talks with Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh and demanded the latter explain the intention of these secret meetings. Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, Mr. Reddy accused former minister KTR of being hypocritical, stating that the BRS government had neglected farmers during its decade-long rule, and was now trying to defame the Congress government with wild allegations. He challenged KTR to a debate at the Telangana martyrs' memorial here on Monday, questioning his credibility to speak on farmers' welfare. Referring to the Banakacherla project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government, Mr. Ram Mohan Reddy emphasised that the Revanth Reddy government was fighting for Telangana's just share in the Godavari and Krishna rivers, while the BRS leader was holding secret talks with the Andhra Pradesh Minister.

KTR demands probe into urea shortage in Telangana
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Sunday demanded an investigation into the fertiliser shortage in Telangana. He lashed out at Congress government over the fertiliser shortage and asked it to explain to farmers why there is a statewide shortage of 1.94 lakh metric tonnes. "Why has the price of a sack of urea, which should be ₹266.50, now become ₹325? This should be explained not just to farmers but to all the people of the state," he said in a post on X. "Who is running this black-market business from behind the scenes? Who is causing this artificial shortage, and who are the middlemen hoarding even fertilisers? An investigation must be conducted immediately," the BRS leader said. KTR wanted to know why the government is unable to give the farmer even a sack of fertiliser, even after making Aadhaar cards mandatory. The BRS leader alleged that the government failed to implement Rythu Bharosa or waive farm loans. Even if farmers take loans for farming, there is a shortage of fertilisers. The urea shortage in the state has threatened farming activity during the Kharif season. The shortage has resulted in the price of urea rising to Rs 325 per 45-kg bag against the subsidised rate of Rs 266.50 to Rs 268. Last week, Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao urged the Centre to act immediately to ensure a timely and sufficient supply of urea. In a letter to Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda, he appealed for urgent steps to address the acute shortage of urea during the ongoing agricultural season. The state minister mentioned that the Centre allocated five lakh tonnes of urea to Telangana for April, May and June but supplied only 3.06 lakh tonnes, leaving the state grappling with a shortfall of 1.94 lakh tonnes. Rao also wrote a letter to Union Ministers from Telangana G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, urging them to request the Centre to ensure immediate supply of urea to overcome the shortage.
