Bus services to Manx beauty spot reinstated in new route
Bus services to a beauty spot on the Isle of Man are set to be restored as part of a new route linking the west and south of the island.Bus Vannin is launching the 8S route, which is expected to run every day, year-round, from Peel to The Sound via Cregneash from 21 July, subject to approval by the Road Transport Licensing Committee.The government said the decision to introduce the service was taken to "meet passenger requirements" and would "fill a gap in bus services" identified in consultation responses to a recent bus service review.It follows the government's decision to scrap a seasonal service to Cregneash last year after being deemed not financially viable.
A subsequent backlash, including the decision being dubbed "short-sighted" by Arbory and Rushen commissioners, led to Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood committing to review the decision.It is set to serve Peel, Foxdale, the airport, Castletown, Port Erin, Port St Mary and The Sound.The government said the route would be reviewed once in place and might change based on the passenger numbers.Haywood said she was "delighted" that Bus Vannin was able to introduce the route, adding the service was "good news for residents and visitors to our island".

Work to begin on improving Plymouth city centre bus services
Work to improve bus services in Plymouth will begin next month, the council has City Council (PCC) said the Royal Parade bus improvement scheme aimed to reduce congestion and improve reliability by increasing its number of bus stops on the shop side of the city local authority said the scheme would reduce delays, cut queues and help make going by bus "more attractive" than opting for a private John Stephens said it was part of the council's ambition to encourage people to make greener travel choices. He said: "Plymouth needs to improve bus services to make it easier for everyone to get to work, school, shops and businesses, friends or family. "Nearly 25% of households in Plymouth do not have a car and with the city's population expected to grow, improving sustainable travel choices is vital to keeping the city moving." The scheme will take about nine months to be carried out, and will begin on 7 bus stops on the shop side of Royal Parade between Courtenay Street and St Andrews Cross roundabout will be closed and temporary stops will be made available in alternative locations across the city eastbound side of Royal Parade will also be reduced to one lane for all vehicles."We realise there is going to be some upheaval for a time for passengers, but please bear with us as the long-term gain will be better bus journeys," Mr Stephens scheme is set to cost about £7.4m overall, funded by the Department for Transport's Transforming Cities Fund and Bus Grant, Historic England's Heritage Action Zone funding and the Council's Better Places funding.

Bus service changes for Leicestershire confirmed
New stops at railway stations and tourist attractions have been added to bus services in Leicestershire following a county council review. The council has announced that changes, which also include the introduction of free travel for a month on a bookable service called FoxConnect, will kick in from 14 follows a review of services partly funded by the government. The changes also aim to connect new developments in Loughborough, north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth with towns, villages, other transport routes and destinations including Twycross Zoo and 1620s House. Councillor Charles Whitford, cabinet member for highways, transport and waste, said: "The new routes are developed with residents in mind. "Importantly, they're designed to reduce journey times, link rail stations and newer housing developments and unlock better links to towns and villages across the county."The changes include: Service 2 from Kinchbus will now run hourly with a re-route in Loughborough to cover part of the previous route 13, providing access to Great Central Service 5 will be re-routed to serve the Haddon Way/Grange Park estate and improve access to Loughborough's town centre, replacing the temporary Service north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth, the former Service 7, now called LC12 will offer a fixed bus service during key commuter times to serve Witherley, Fenny Drayton, Atherstone, Ratcliffe Culey, Sibson, Carlton, Market Bosworth, Newton Burgoland and zones eight, nine and 11 will be introduced by LA Travel to serve the north west Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth formerly Service 125, which runs from Coalville to Leicester has been re-designed to provide a "direct service with reduced journey times", the council county council has organised drop-in events for residents to find out about the changes in next event is at Coalville Library on Monday from 11:00 to 13:00 BST, before one is held at Hinckley Library on Friday between 11:00 and 13:00.
