Married At First Sight's Ella Ding breaks silence after backlash over her sponsored pregnancy post
The reality TV star, who is expecting her first child with husband Guy Palermo, shared her exciting baby news in a post that advertised her partnership with Clearblue, a pregnancy test company.
The post, while receiving many congratulations from friends and family, faced major criticism, with some followers calling it 'tacky' and 'cringe' to announce her pregnancy with a sponsored post.
Now, the 31-year-old has opened up about the business opportunity, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that it was a 'no-brainer'.
'Clearblue literally told me I'm pregnant. Like, I don't really know how much more you can align with a brand,' she said.

The MAFS alum revealed that she initially felt weird when the opportunity came across her desk, however the more she thought about it, the more the partnership made sense to her.
'If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that's all that matters. And if you got offered, you would take it!' she said.
Ella also noted that the cost of living crisis was a reasonable excuse for saying yes to the brand partnership, adding that having a baby is 'f***ing expensive'.
The soon-to-be-mum said that she and Guy would set up a bank account for their baby, hinting that the money from her pregnancy partnership and any other baby-related opportunities would go towards her unborn child.
'It's something that I wish my parents did for me from when I was a young age, and something that I really want to do for our baby to start helping them save from a really young age,' she said.
Last week, fans weighed in on Ella's controversial 'pregnancy announcement ad', which featured a series of photos including a positive Clearblue pregnancy test.
'Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us,' Ella captioned her post.
'Baby Palermo you've already made our story sweeter & given us the best news of 2025 yet.'
Ella also included the information '#ad #ClearblueConfirmed,' and consumer advice, 'Always read the label and follow the directions for use.'
The announcement was re-posted by the @influencer.updates.au Instagram page.
The post was met with mixed feelings from followers of the controversial bride who has built a high profile on social media since appearing in MAFS 2022.
'Nooo this feels off being an ad. Is this the official announcement? Congratulations either way,' wrote one follower.
'Congrats! However does anyone else feel we are living in a capitalist nightmare with a pregnancy announcement being an ad?' suggested another fan.
One angry follower responded: 'Stop normalising this behaviour, not EVERYONE does this.
'It screams "attention" and is absolutely disgusting to use your child as a walking advertisement before they are even born. Show some class.'
'Talk about exploiting a child … starts from the moment of conception ,' agreed another user.
Added one follower: 'A paid ad to announce your first pregnancy? The last thing that should be on the mind is how can I make money out of announcing I'm pregnant.
'Each to their own but feels a bit off.'
Several celebrities, meanwhile, offered their congratulations, including MAFS coach Mel Schilling, Tammy Hembrow and social media star Sarah Jane Roza.
It comes after Domenica Calarco called out former best friend Ella for announcing her pregnancy with a sponsored post.
Domenica took to the comments section to slam Ella for 'monetising on her pregnancy'.

Marriage joy for Nathan Cleary and his family after the footy superstar and Mary Fowler shot down rumours about their romance
Wedding bells are ringing for the Cleary family with the happy news that Penrith star Nathan's sister Indi is engaged to her partner Aden Perry. The couple made the heartwarming announcement on Instagram on Saturday, showing their followers photos of Indi showing off her engagement ring in front of a mountain range, and holding hands with her man as they celebrated with some champagne. Cleary captioned the post, 'Forever with my best friend,' adding a white-heart emoji. The revelation drew messages of congratulations from footy stars past and present like Scott Sorensen, Mitch Kenny and Cooper Johns. Fowler wrote, 'So beautiful, congrats,' adding a heart and smiling face with halo emoji. Indi Cleary was recently spotted dining with Mary and Nathan at a top Sydney restaurant as her brother and the Matildas star shot down rumours their romance was going through a rocky patch. The family meal at Totti's Italian eatery in the city's inner west is the latest in a list of signs that speculation their relationship was in trouble was off the mark. Out-of-character moves by both stars on social media, coupled with the fact Nathan wasn't there to greet Fowler when she flew into Sydney, seemed to point to a change in their dynamic. However, Mary was then spotted cheering Nathan on as his Panthers beat the Wests Tigers last Saturday, followed by the couple smiling and laughing as they were photographed leaving Penrith headquarters together last Sunday. Fowler was smiling and laughing as she and Cleary left the club's training facilities after she was seen cheering him on from the stands as the defending premiers ran out big winners over Wests Tigers in round 22 of the NRL. She also visited him at his home in Sydney's west a few days beforehand, looking tense as she left. The couple also appear to have had a date night at a tenpin bowling alley, where they were photographed posing with a Panthers fan in a heartwarming snap. A series of eye-opening changes by the couple on social media first gave rise to speculation about their relationship earlier this month. When Fowler flew into Sydney on July 16, Cleary - who's usually with her when she arrives and departs at the airport - was nowhere to be seen. More signs were there for all to see on social media. Cleary has long had a pair of paw prints on his Instagram bio, likely as a nod to the Panthers. Fowler had the same emojis on her account - until she dropped them recently. Ever since they got together, the couple have regularly shared and liked posts from and about each other, but that also changed in the last few weeks. In an unusual move, Mary didn't immediately like Nathan's raw post about the embarrassment he felt after NSW fell to a heavy loss in the Origin decider against Queensland, in which he referenced the 'self-loathing and hurt' that come with defeat. She has since liked that post while she's been Down Under.

Candice Warner reveals the very surprising job she would have now if she never became an Ironwoman - and how she will really react if her kids don't become athletes
Candice Warner has revealed the very surprising job she would have pursued if she had never became a professional athlete at age 14. The retired Ironwoman, 40, began competing in the series as a teenager and soon became state champion, but left it behind 13 years ago for the glitz and glam of media. Now, in an exclusive chat with Daily Mail Australia, the mother-of-three has confessed she would have become a vet 'in another life'. 'I love the life we've built,' she said, referencing her cricketer husband David Warner and their three daughters Ivy Mae, 10, Indi Rae, nine, and Isla Rose, six. 'Do I wish we could live a quieter life where not everyone knew everything about us? Of course. But aside from that there isn't much I'd change.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'In another life, if competitive sport wasn't for me, I think I would have been a vet,' she admitted. 'But all in all, I think our life would look pretty similar to what it does now—lots of family time, staying active and enjoying friends' company.' Candice, who has teamed up with Voltaren as the brand's official ambassador for the 2025 City2Surf, went on to say it was 'tough' for her to imagine 'doing anything that didn't involve sport'. 'Even if it's being the kids' sports team manager cutting the oranges—I'm passionate about it!' she said. But what would the sports-lover do if her daughters took a different route? Candice and David, 38, welcomed their eldest child in September 2014, a year before they tied the knot at the Terrara House Estate on the NSW South Coast. They then announced the birth of Indi in January 2016 and Isla in June 2019. So far, their girls have taken to the world of sports, with the eldest two enjoying tennis, swimming, gymnastics and dancing in recent years. Candice has previously said they also enjoy cricket just like their retired sportsman dad, who was once captain of the Big Bash League team Sydney Thunder. However, the media personality said she is well aware of how 'tough and unpredictable' the life of a professional athlete can be. 'Whether they dream of being an athlete or taking a different path, David and I will support them in whatever choice they make,' she said. 'Making sure my kids live happy and healthy lives is all I care about. What that looks like for them. I don't know—they are still young! 'David and I are very conscious of letting our girls try an array of different sports and hobbies so that they get a taste of it all. 'If professional sport is what they want to pursue, I'd like to hope I'm one of those cool, calm and collected sideline mums, but deep down I will be cheering nonstop for them. 'And if they decide that sport isn't for them, that's totally okay too. 'I know how tough and unpredictable that world can be—so if they want something totally different, we'll be just as proud. It's their happiness that matters most.' Whatever the future holds, one thing is for certain, Candice won't be turning her back on the world of pro athleticism any time soon. Despite being a retired athlete, the former SAS Australia star has become involved in the popular Sydney road running event City2Surf. The annual 'fun run' covers a 14-kilometre course open for competitive runners and community participants alike. This year, Candice has teamed up with Voltaren to serve as the official ambassador for the 2025 City2Surf charity fun run, which takes place on Sunday, August 10.
