Sainsbury's to make major loyalty scheme change that saves shoppers £150
Sainsbury's is set to make a major change to its loyalty scheme. For the first time, customers will be able to access 'personalised' discounts at the checkout.
Starting from next Friday, July 25, the supermarket chain has confirmed members will be able to access the highly customised 'Your Nectar Prices' at the tills, allowing them to save money on their favourite products while they scan.
The personalised offer provides shoppers with discounts across their favourite products, with the supermarket also recommending price cuts on items they think members will love based on previous shopping history.
At the moment, shoppers can only find the exclusive 'Your Nectar Prices' when they make any orders online, or when they use the Smart Shop app or hand-set when in store.
However, as of next Friday, anyone with a Nectar card will be able to access the offer and make even more savings by simply scanning their Nectar card at the till when in store.
As reported by the Sun, Sainsbury's believes that this change will be beneficial to 8.5 million members, potentially saving them up to an impressive £150 a year.
The discounts, which refresh every Friday, will give shoppers savings on everyday essentials and and new favourite items, offering 10 personalised offers at a time based on their shopping habits.
Mark Given, chief marketing, data and sustainability officer at Sainsbury's, said: "We're leading the way by making loyalty personal.
"Shoppers want to feel recognised and rewarded and while Nectar Prices are for everyone, we know our customers love an offer that is made just for them.
"That's exactly what Your Nectar Prices delivers – it's about giving customers those extra savings on the products they love and buy most."

Sainsbury's Nectar loyalty scheme, which was first launched in 2002, is said to boast around 18 million active members across the UK.
Initially beginning with just four partner companies, it has grown to become the largest loyalty scheme in the country, as it now includes over 14 companies and 400 online retailers.
Not only can members earn points on their groceries when at the supermarket, but they can also do so on purchases made from an assortment of other retailers via the Nectar Online store such as Apple, Next, Sky and Waterstones.
In 2023, the supermarket helped to offer lower prices to all of its loyalty members with the launch of its 'Nectar Prices', with the initiative said to offer discounts across hundreds of products from groceries to household items.
Meanwhile, in other supermarket money-saving news, Asda has announced it will be offering shoppers the chance to win 'free fuel' at one of its forecourts when they find a 'hidden' ticket in store.
From tomorrow, Friday, July 18 and running until Monday, August 25, the firm is celebrating its 60th anniversary by hiding 40 golden tickets among some of its products in stores, with lucky winners able to fill up for free at one of the grocer's forecourts for 12 months, excluding Express sites.

Sainsbury's to open new store in Bearsden creating jobs
Sainsbury's is taking over a vacant unit at the Baljaffray Shopping Centre on Grampian Way in Bearsden. The premises was previously occupied by Lidl for 24 years; however, the company made the decision to close the branch on May 1. Sainsbury's confirmed it is working alongside Forrest Developments to transform the 6000 square foot shop so that it can provide 'everything customers need' to do their weekly grocery shopping. The supermarket chain states that the investment in the new store will create around 30 entry-level and management jobs for local people. It comes after the company implemented two increases in pay for hourly paid staff that are planned for 2025. Employees outside of London moved from £12 to £12.45 per hour and will see a further increase to £12.60 per hour in August. READ NEXT: Restaurant in Glasgow's West End sold to the Scotsman Group Sainsbury's hopes that the new Bearsden branch will be open 'in time for Christmas'. Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury's chief property and procurement officer & MD of Smart Charge, said: 'We have a great pipeline of new store investment planned in Scotland, with three new Scottish Sainsbury's stores opened already in 2025, and we're excited to include Bearsden – creating even more new jobs. 'We'll keep everyone updated about our plans for the new supermarket launch as construction and fit-out progresses. 'We hope to open it in time for Christmas this year.' Once open, customers will be able to browse a range of 'high quality, great value, tasty' products including fresh food, fruit and vegetables, food-to-go, and much more. Not only that, but the supermarket will also feature a Costa Coffee machine and benefit from a Click & Collect service. This will allow customers to order online from Sainsbury's much-loved Argos, Habitat and Tu clothing brands and collect them in-store. READ NEXT: Major retailer announced closure of Glasgow city centre shop The Forrest Group is currently carrying out an extensive programme of renovations and repairs before Sainsbury's completes the fit-out later this year. Donald Stewart, MD of Forrest Developments, said: 'We're very pleased to bring this good news to the people of Bearsden, as we bolster the options available to them for finding the very best food in their local area. 'It's vital to ensure communities have the amenities they need to work and live well, rather than allowing buildings to become disused, and to keep as many jobs as possible available locally. 'This is a great site and we're very happy to welcome Sainsbury's to the Forrest family as the latest tenant on our newest site.' The move has been welcomed by local councillor Alan Reid, who represents the Bearsden North ward. Councillor Reid commented: 'I welcome the refurbishment of the supermarket and car park in Baljaffray and look forward to Sainsbury's opening in the late summer – it's always good to see big brands coming to our area alongside our much-loved local independent retailers and businesses.'

If you're looking to buy cheap plants and flowers from your nearest supermarket or retailer branch, check if they have any on sale in the first instance by calling ahead. Most retailers have store locators online which you can use to find your nearest store, based on your postcode or town where you live. How to save money on plants, flowers and gardening Start by waiting for end of season sales when retailers slash prices on stock. It's worth joining up to retailer's loyalty schemes too, as you might be able to get discounts on plants and flowers. You'll also get points on your purchases which you can use to get money off future shops. B&Q, Sainsbury's and Morrisons all have loyalty schemes which are free to join. Buying plant seeds rather than mature plants means a bit more work is needed, but will generally save you money too. Rather than buying compost, you can create your own with organic waste like banana peels or grass you've mowed up. How to find gardening bargains Doing up your garden to enjoy on warm and sunny days needn't cost the earth. Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to get a top deal on items for the garden… You can bag big savings on plants, shrubs and flowers, as well as gardening tools and furniture. Many retailers have flash sales across entire seasonal ranges – often these promotions tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout. Sign up to mailing lists of your favourite brands and you'll be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too. Use a price comparison site to search out the best value items. And keep a close eye on the specialbuys at Aldi and middle of Lidl drops which drop a couple of times a week and usually mean great value seasonal items for your outdoor areas. If you are not in a hurry to buy an item, try adding it to the shopping cart online and leaving it for a couple of days. Sometimes big brands will try to tempt you into the sale by offering you a discount. And always check if you can get cashback before paying. It's especially worth using sites such as Topcashback, Quidco and app Jamdoughnut when buying bigger ticket items such as garden furniture as you'll get a nice kickback.
