TCA brands entire HCA Council members ‘fraudsters' amidst audit scandal

Hans India6 days ago
Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) today alleged that the entire Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Apex Council members, including the stalwart members who control HCA affairs, are fraudsters.
Dharam Guruva Reddy, TCA general secretary, claimed that HCA members had 'copy pasted' the 2022-23 Financial Year Audit into the 2023-24 audit, asserting there was 'nothing new and no accountability.' Listing out the spending of the last two summer camps, Guruva Reddy stated that the money sent was Rs 15 lakh to each district two times in 2024 and 2025 as claimed by HCA. However, he noted that HCA books reflected, as claimed by the present HCA Body, that they sent Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh two times in 2024 and 2025 to each district. 'Which one is correct?' he questioned.
The TCA general secretary called for investigating agencies to cross-check the HCA 2023-24 Audit report. He highlighted that while it was dated for the June 29 Annual General Meeting (AGM) presentation, the entire audit and material were from 2022-23, and all AGM attendees passed it without any questions.
In a recent development, HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao, Secretary R Devraj, and Treasurer CJ Srinivasa Rao were suspended at the Apex Council meeting.
This is seen as a critical decision taken by the Apex Council, having reportedly followed the rules by digging deep and taking action against three office bearers who were facing criminal charges in a CID case by the government.

From The Hindu, August 6, 1975: Police raid ‘bogus' crossword puzzle firms

New Delhi, Aug. 5: The office premises of 12 'bogus' firms allegedly cheating a large number of innocent persons through false crossword puzzle contests were to-day raided by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police in different parts of the city. 'Proprietors' of two such firms, Chander Prakash of Rani Bagh and Sarinder Kumar of Anand Nagar were arrested on charges of cheating, according to a press note issued by the Delhi Police. The modus operandi of these rucketeers was to collect the postal addresses of a large number of people, the press note said. The 'firm' would prepare a complete list of these people with their postal addresses and despatch literature regarding the crossword puzzle contest. For the first second and third prize winners, attractive articles such as motor cycles, tape recorders and transistors were offered as prizes. The puzzle contest would be so simple that anyone would be able to solve it without much mental exercise. Once the contestant despatched his puzzle entry he would fall in the trap of the racketeer. In due course of time the firm would inform all the contestants that they had won the first prize. All the winners were asked to send Rs. 50 as licence fee package and postal charges to enable the firm to despatch transistors to firms. In fact, a very inferior quality locally manufactured transistor would be sent to each one of them by VPP for Rs. 125. Invariably, the contestant would have already shelled out a sum of Rs. 48 to take delivery of the prize. He would thus be cheated by over Rs. 100 as the cost of the transistor will not be more than Rs. 70 to 73.
