In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, "Infinite good wishes to all of you on Akshaya Tritiya. May this sacred festival dedicated to humanity bring success, prosperity, and happiness to everyone, and give new strength to the resolve of a developed India."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes, " Infinite best wishes for Akshaya Tritiya, the festival symbolising the confluence of nature and culture. I wish that this holy festival brings eternal virtue, good fortune and prosperity in everyone's life.

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej or Akti, is a significant Hindu festival observed throughout the country. Celebrated on the third lunar day of the bright half of the month of Vaisakha, it is considered an auspicious day for beginning new ventures, buying gold, and making charitable donations.
Following the festival, gold demand in India is expected to remain strong despite the surge in prices, as buyers are drawn by the high returns seen over the past two years.

Experts say that despite a surge in rates, there will be accelerated consumer interest in the yellow metal with people moving towards lightweight and studded jewellery.
Meanwhile, on Akshaya Tritiya, the doors of Shri Yamunotri Dham and Shri Gangotri Dham are being formally opened for the devotees.
Many devotees left Rishikesh to embark on the Char Dham Yatra.
Jai, one of the devotees from Rishikesh, said, "...We are very excited...the facilities are very good. Registration was done very smoothly, there is water, tea facilities, and there are also washroom facilities..."
Prashant, another devotee from Gujarat, said, " We came here for registration, it was done easily...right now we are going to Kedarnath"

Male: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the close ties between India and the Maldives during an official banquet hosted in his honour by Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu in Male. He reflected on the continuity of recent high-level engagements, saying, "Last year, the President visited India on a State Visit. For this invitation, I express my gratitude to the President. On behalf of all the people of India, I extend heartfelt greetings to the people of the Maldives." He noted that this visit comes at a symbolic moment for both nations. "This year, the 60th anniversary of India-Maldives relations is also being celebrated. This happy coincidence -- the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives and the 60th anniversary of India-Maldives relations -- has made my visit even more special," PM Modi said. Underscoring the civilisational and cultural bonds, he remarked, "Our shared heritage is as old as the monsoon and as sweet as Addu Bondi. Our languages reflect the depth of our culture. Several words in Dhivehi have come from India... Our tastes are also similar... Absolutely perfect despite being different." He also emphasised the strength of people-to-people ties between the two countries, saying, "The loving relations that have been formed between the people of our two nations for centuries are ever strong even today... Your tourist number 10 lakh this year turned out to be an Indian." Government blocks 25 OTT platforms for obscenity
This is a representational AI image (Pic credit: Lexica) NEW DELHI: In a sweeping crackdown on digital obscenity, the ministry of information and broadcasting has directed internet service providers to block public access to 25 OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT and Desiflix, for hosting sexually explicit, obscene, and, in some cases, pornographic content. The directive, issued on July 23, also covers 26 websites and 14 mobile applications associated with these platforms. The action follows repeated warnings to these platforms and comes after consultations with the ministries of home affairs, electronics and IT, the department of legal affairs, industry bodies like FICCI and CII, and experts on women and child rights. Sources said the decision was triggered by growing public grievances and the platforms' persistent violation of IT Rules, 2021, and Indian obscenity laws. Platforms like Ullu and ALTT had been flagged by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in 2024 for content containing sexual innuendo and nudity with little or no narrative context. Ullu had to remove its series House Arrest in May 2025 after govt intervention. A similar crackdown took place in 2024 when 18 OTT platforms, such as Dreams Films, Rabbit, Hunters, and Prime Play, were blocked. No funds from muzrai temples diverted: DGR
Mangaluru: Minister for health and family welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, expressed concern over the spread of false information accusing the govt of diverting revenue from endowment temples for other purposes. Stating that the govt utilises the revenue from muzrai temples exclusively for the development of religious shrines under the department, the minister said that a few organisations have been spreading malicious campaigns against the govt with a political agenda. Rao was speaking at a consultation meeting with the management committee members of temples under the Hindu religious institutions and charitable endowments department on Friday. The Congress govt under chief minister Siddaramaiah increased 'tasdik' (remuneration for archaks) from Rs 24,000 to Rs 36,000 per year, and later to Rs 48,000 during his previous term. "The govt has further increased the tasdik to Rs 72,000. There is a political conspiracy to portray the Congress govt as anti-Hindu," Rao alleged.
