Tripura launches framework to rate schools, CM Manik Saha says ‘it will act as catalyst in education sector'

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha launched the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSQAAF) at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala on Friday.
At the launch event, CM Saha said, 'This TSQAAF is a new direction for Tripura. It will act as a catalyst in the education sector.'
The chief minister added that a good amount of funds is being invested in the education sector, leading to an overall improvement in the state's education profile.
CM Saha also informed that the state government has recently recruited 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers.
'We are recruiting transparently through the Teachers' Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT). We shall fill vacancies with qualified teachers,' Saha said.
He also reminded the audience that Tripura recently became only the third 'fully literate' state in India under the Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) – Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram.
'Tripura became a fully literate state after Mizoram and Goa, with a literacy rate of 95.6 per cent. The pass percentages in Class 10 and 12 have crossed 86 per cent and 79 per cent, respectively. In Vidyajyoti schools, pass percentages in Class 10 and Class 12 have increased by 26 per cent and 21 per cent, respectively, from last year. We expect even better results in the future,' the chief minister said.
Saha said that earlier literacy programs were limited to teaching people to sign their names, but the current focus has expanded to reading, writing, basic arithmetic, critical life skills, and vocational skills, among others.
'Education is not just about acquiring formal certificates; it's a vital catalyst for instilling moral values in life,' the CM added.
Later in the day, the CM posted on social media, 'Tripura has already taken robust steps to implement the National Education Policy. The School Education Department is working tirelessly to create a healthy, competitive environment, transforming each school into a centre of excellence…
'Just as NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accredits higher education institutions based on quality standards, we're launching TSQAAF for schools.'

Meeting with Amit Shah later this month on implementation of Tiprasa Accord: Pradyot

'I don't know about the statement made by our MLA Ranjit Debbarma, but I will surely talk to him. Today, I had a conversation with Chief Minister Manik Saha, and I told him that it has been 18 months since the Tiprasa Accord was signed,' Pradyot Debbarma told reporters. The statement came hours after party MLA Rajit Debbarma threatened to pull out of the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura over the delay in the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, inked with the Centre and the state government last year for the development of the indigenous people. Agartala, Jul 5 (PTI) Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Debbarma on Saturday said a meeting will be held with Union Home Minister Amit Shah later this month on the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord. 'If MLA Debbarma spoke about withdrawing support from the government, it would be out of frustration because a sense of genuine frustration and insecurity is prevailing in the rural areas,' he said. He said the CM gives due importance to the sentiments of the indigenous people, and assured that he will raise the concerns of the TMP at the right platform. 'There will be a high-level meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi later this month on the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord. Since the CM gave assurances, we must wait for that,' he said. Voicing concern over illegal immigration, the TMP chief claimed that people from Bangladesh were still entering the state and trying to settle here, which was creating insecurity among the indigenous people. Earlier, Ranjit Debbarma said the party was ready to withdraw support from the Manik Saha government for not fulfilling the promises regarding the Tiprasa Accord. Even if the TMP withdraws support, the BJP-led government will be comfortably in power as it has 33 MLAs in the 60-member House, besides having the backing of an IPFT legislator. The TMP has 13 lawmakers, while the opposition CPI(M) has 10 and Congress three MLAs. PTI PS SOM This report is auto-generated from PTI news service. Children must engage in social work alongside studies: Tripura CM

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 5 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the state government is prioritising quality education for students, and quality teachers are being recruited through the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Saha also informed that more recruitments will be made in the future. 'Textbook education can never be the standard of life. One can become morally strong through education. Along with education, children should also be engaged in social work,' he said. CM Saha said this while launching the 'Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework' (TSQAAF) at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Friday. Speaking at the event, Saha said that the state education department is working to keep pace with the times. 'Various programs are being implemented for the bright future of the next generation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the National Education Policy 2020 to give momentum to the education system. If there is a uniform curriculum everywhere, students do not face any problems. If there is a uniform question paper, our children can also compete centrally. Today, with the launch of the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework, a new horizon has been opened in the field of education in Tripura. Through this, the children of the state will be able to establish themselves on a contemporary level with the children of other parts of the country,' he said. Saha, who is also the Education Minister of the state, said that through the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework, the standards of education of each school can be assessed, and recognition will be given accordingly. 'Along with this, teachers in schools will no longer be limited to the traditional way of teaching. They will have to teach various important subjects beyond the specific syllabus. The Prime Minister's far-reaching vision for the education system must be implemented. He has repeatedly said that it is not enough to just read textbooks. Values, development, and the idea of nation-building must be instilled among children. And through this new system launched today, that idea will reach the children. The state education minister also thanked the various educational institutions and concerned individuals involved in the preparation of this curriculum,' said Saha. He further stated that education plays a special role in improving the quality of socio-economic conditions, along with enhancing one's knowledge. 'Many children are good at studies but fail to succeed in life. Therefore, it is necessary to be involved in sports, social work, and other activities along with studies. It is the responsibility of teachers to develop students into good human beings. They should be taught about social problems and their solutions in schools. The horizon of education must be further expanded. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also conducting a test-paying exercise program to reduce exam-related stress among children,' he said. Special Secretary of the Education Department Raval Hemendra Kumar, Director of Education N C Sharma, CEO of SBI Foundation Sanjay Prakash, along with other officials of the Education Department and eminent persons, were present as chief guests on the occasion.
