State Govt won't compromise on education: Tripura CM Manik Saha
Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 27 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said that the state government will not compromise on the development of education, while announcing that competitive exam centres will be opened in three places for job seekers. 'Considering the job-seekers of Tripura, Tripura Competitive Exam Centres will be opened in three places in the state. Financial resources have been allocated in the budget for setting up these centers in Udaipur, Agartala, and Ambassa,' he said. The Chief Minister said this today at the inauguration of Chinmaya Hari Hara Vidyalaya and the Bhoomi Pujan of Chinmaya Sundarayi Temple at West Taranagar, Mohanpur, according to a release from Tripura CMO Saha said at the event that education is very necessary for social and economic development. Government tirelessly working to fill up vacant posts: Tripura CM
Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 27 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said that the present state government is working to fill up the vacant posts. He also said, the government is opening special coaching centres for students. CM Saha said this while addressing an event- distribution of offers of appointment under Education (School) and Health and Family Welfare departments at Muktadhara Auditorium today. '222 appointment letters were given. We have appointed them through transparency and in the coming days also we will do this. Due to their hard work, they made success. After joining the work, they must give concentration on state and central government schemes and how to implement them so that people would be benefited. We must work for the people,' he said. CM Saha, who is also the Education and Health Minister of the state, said that so far 19,484 jobs were provided, including die-in-harness. 'If anyone gets a job, this is a happy moment for a family. We can understand how a job or employment is necessary for a family. The present state government is working to fill up the vacancy. We must listen to public grievances and have to solve them. We are also trying to create new employment opportunities. Over 5,700 jobs have been given through outsourcing. In the 2024-25 financial year, under National Career Service, around 305 persons got jobs,' he said. Saha also said that the unemployment rate has significantly declined, from 10 per cent in 2018-2019 to 1.7 per cent in the 2023-24 financial year. 'This signifies we are on the right track and we are fulfilling the promises of providing employment. PM Modi has always said government servants need proper training and you, the newly recruited, will also undergo training for capacity building. In 2022, PM Modi declared Viksit Bharat by 2047. Tripura is the only state where the E-office started from the Cabinet to the Panchayat level in a very short time. Now all files are being digitised, and for that, it will be maintained properly and can be stored in a proper way,' said Saha. He said that the government has done many more things for Education, starting from the implementation of the National Education Policy, the NCERT curriculum was started, Super 30 was introduced for the betterment of education and students. 'We have decided to open coaching centres in every sub-division on science and English. Some bindings are there. More new general degree colleges are being opened, competitive exam centres are also being opened,' he added. Education Special Secretary Raval Hamendra Kumar, Director Secondary and Elementary N.C. Sharma, in-charge Director Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Anjan Das, Director of Health Services Tapan Majumder, Additional Secretary Health Rajib Datta were also present. (ANI)

"Govt maintaining zero tolerance against drug trafficking": Tripura CM Manik Saha
Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 26 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said that drug traffickers will not be tolerated under any circumstances and that strict action is being taken against them under a zero-tolerance policy. CM Saha said that the central and state governments are taking a firm stance against drugs, and people from all sections of society must unite and fight against the menace. The Chief Minister made these remarks at a motorcycle rally held at Umakanta Maidan in Agartala today on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. A blood donation camp was also organised for the Drug-Free India campaign. On the occasion, Dr. Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that the United Nations declared this day as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in 1987 to prevent drug abuse and raise awareness about illegal drugs. 'This issue is very relevant today. Tripura is geographically surrounded by international borders on three sides and shares boundaries with Assam and Mizoram. In such a situation, Tripura's children are being targeted, and the state is being used as a corridor to traffic drugs into Bangladesh. Today's slogan--'Say No to Drugs'--is extremely important. Drug traffickers are smuggling drugs for money, and our children are falling prey to it. But it is not their fault. When it comes to Tripura, they become victims. These victims are in dire need of treatment,' he said. He added that the state government decided in the last budget to open drug de-addiction centres in all eight districts. About Rs 20 crore has been allocated for each centre, and the Ministry of Donor has sanctioned an additional Rs 198 crore to set up a larger drug de-addiction centre in Tripura. The foundation stone for the facility has already been laid at Bishramganj. The Chief Minister further informed that two drug de-addiction centres currently operate in the state, and private initiatives manage several others. 'It has been observed that those who use injectable drugs are mostly affected by HIV/AIDS. We try to provide treatment to such individuals if detected early. The AIDS Control Society in the state has been carrying out various initiatives to prevent HIV/AIDS. OST (Opioid Substitution Therapy) arrangements have also been made. The state government is firmly committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have made it clear that drug peddlers will not be spared under any circumstances,' Dr. Saha added. He said that drug seizures in Tripura have increased by 104% from 2023-24 to 2024-25, while drug destruction has seen a rise of 132%. Police, security forces, and other concerned agencies are actively working against drug trafficking. Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, DDG of the Narcotics Bureau (North Eastern Region) R. Sudhakar, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of Tripura A.R. Reddy, Secretary Abhishek Singh, Additional Director of the Narcotics Bureau (Guwahati) Prakash Ranjan Mishra, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K., and other senior officials were present as distinguished guests at the event. Tripura to fill vacancies, open coaching centres for students: CM
Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha on Friday announced that the state govt has been working to fill vacant posts across various departments and plans to open special coaching centres for students. Speaking at a programme for distributing appointment letters in the education (school) and health and family welfare departments, Saha said, "We have appointed 222 candidates through a transparent process. Their success is a result of hard work — something that was a distant dream under the previous regime, where jobs were distributed based on political affiliations." The CM emphasised that the govt expects employees to uphold transparency and honesty in public service. He urged them to focus on implementing central and state schemes effectively to ensure benefits reach the people. In the last two years, 19,484 jobs have been provided in the health and education sectors. Additionally, over 5,700 positions have been filled through outsourcing. In the 2024-25 financial year, around 305 people secured jobs under the national career service scheme. "Unemployment rate has significantly declined over the years under the BJP's regime. The unemployment rate reduced to 1.74% in 2023-24 from 10% in 2018-2019. This signifies we are on the right track and we are fulfilling the promises of providing employment," Saha claimed. Highlighting digital governance, he said Tripura is the only state to implement e-office systems from the cabinet down to panchayat level in a short time. "All files are being digitised, which will ensure proper management and storage," he added. "We have decided to open coaching centres in every sub-division in science and English. Some bindings are there. More new general degree colleges are being opened, and competitive exam centres are also being opened," he added.
