Palace to Roque: Why blame Marcos on being forced to leave PH?
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro took a swipe at Roque, saying that President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. was not with the former Palace official when he got involved in supposed "illegal activities."
''Unang-una po, mukhang isinisisi pa po niya ang naging kalagayan niya at ang kinahinatnan niya kay Pangulo at sa administrasyon... Hindi naman po niya yata kasama ang Pangulo nang siya ay nakipag-deal sa Whirlwind at sa Lucky South 99,'' Castro said.
(First of all, it seems like he still blames his situation and the outcome on the President and the administration... He apparently wasn't with the President when he made deals with Whirlwind and Lucky South 99.)
GMA News Online has reached out to Roque but he has yet to reply as of posting time.
In May, warrants of arrest were issued against Roque, Cassandra Ong and 48 others for qualified human trafficking in relation to the alleged scam hub run by Lucky South 99.
Roque, however, claimed that he was being politically persecuted by the Marcos administration after the warrant was issued against him.
"I am a victim of political persecution by the Marcos government because I am an ally of the Dutertes," Roque previously said.
Castro, however, maintained that the warrant of arrest against Roque was valid.
"Paano niyang isisisi ito sa Pangulo at sa administrasyon? So, sa mga ganitong klaseng obstructionist, sana po ay ihinto nila at maging tunay na Pilipino," Castro said.
The former spokesperson has denied the accusations against him and said he is not and never has been a legal counsel of any illegal POGO and was not a counsel of Lucky South 99.
Roque has said that he is currently at The Hague seeking asylum. The Department of Justice claimed that this has been rejected, but Roque said that this was just "fake news." —VAL/ GMA Integrated News

A Reuters article said that the deceased were between the ages of 5 and 65. Canadian prosecutors later charged the suspect, Kai-Ji Adam Lo, with at least eight counts of second-degree murder. Both Marcos and Carney also ''agreed on the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific and of the efforts of both Canada and the Philippines to uphold the rules-based international order and security in the region,'' the prime minister's office said. ASEAN, EU interrelationships are challenging, says Marcos
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Thursday that interrelationships among other bodies, including the ASEAN and the European Union, have been challenging. Marcos said this during his meeting with the Philippine-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee and the delegates of the 14th Asian Business Summit. ''What we have just experienced, at least, changes now in trade policy, not only with the United States or just economy still, but with the interrelationships between ASEAN, for example, in the Pacific region, for example, and the EU... and all those interrelationships have become – I wouldn't say under threat, but again, in challenge,'' the President said. Marcos said the interdependence in the world economy has turned out to be less secure and less robust. ''And so that is why in the Philippines we have taken that lesson to heart, and that is why we are trying to develop those interrelationships,'' he said. Palace: Marcos to study refiled divorce, anti-political dynasty bills
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. will study the refiled bills in Congress, particularly the proposed measures on divorce and anti-political dynasty. During Thursday's press conference, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the President has no official stance yet as regards the divorce bill, as it would be better to study this measure first. ''Sa ngayon po ay wala pa pong klarong stance ang Pangulo patungkol sa Divorce Bill... Mas maganda po talagang makita kung ano iyong nilalaman na provisions sa sinabi nating Divorce Bill dahil sa ating pagkakaalam ang karaniwan doon sa mga provisions or sa mga dahilan para i-approve ang legal separation ay sinama nila para maging dahilan na rin para mapawalang-bisa ang kasal hindi lang through legal separation,'' Castro said. (Right now, the President does not have a clear stance regarding the Divorce Bill... It would be better to see what provisions are contained in the said Divorce Bill because, as far as we know, the usual provisions or reasons for approving legal separation have been included to also be grounds for annulling a marriage, not just through legal separation.) Pressed if Marcos would support such a measure, Castro said it will depend on the bill's provisions and if the Church will also support it. ''Depende po. Muli, kapag po maganda iyong provisions at makikita rin po natin na ang bawat simbahan ay umaayon na ito ay dapat at nararapat, maaari po itong bigyan nang magandang tugon ng Pangulo,'' she said. (It depends. Again, if the provisions are good and we also see that every church agrees that this is what is necessary and appropriate, the President can give a good response to this.) On Wednesday, the Makabayan bloc lodged a measure that seeks to ban political dynasties. The proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Act seeks to prevent family members from holding or running for national and local positions simultaneously. Castro said the President will also look into this. "Siguro po mas maganda kung maibibigay niya/nila ang pinakadetalye at buong nilalaman ng bill na ito dahil mahirap po sa ngayon na mag-oo o maghindi ang Pangulo. Mas maganda pong maibigay iyong pinakadetalye dahil maaaring magandang maidulot nito sa ating bansa," she said. (Maybe it would be better if they could provide details of this bill because it is difficult for the President to say yes or no at this time.
