Japan's Fuji TV: Top executives resign after Masahiro Nakai sex scandal
In a press conference on Monday, Fuji TV chairman Shuji Kano and president Koichi Minato bowed as they announced their resignations. They apologised to the viewers as well as stakeholders for the trouble and anxiety caused in a scandal that has rocked Japan's entertainment industry.Minato had previously confirmed that the company did not disclose Nakai's scandal despite being aware of it long before it was reported in the media.Reports emerged last month that the TV host had paid the unnamed woman more than half a million dollars. More allegations then surfaced that a Fuji TV employee had helped to arrange the meeting.Nakai, a former member of boy band SMAP and a household name, has denied using violence against the woman. He said on 9 January that he had "resolved" the matter with her through a settlement. But this did little to quell public anger.Car manufacturers Nissan and Toyota were among the companies that pulled advertising from Fuji TV.Earlier this month, the network suspended a weekly show hosted by Nakai while other major networks have also dropped the presenter.Fuji TV has since set up an independent committee to investigate the scandal.

Sip & Guzzle was named the best new cocktail bar in the U.S.
Once a year, some of the best bar talents from around the world make their way to New Orleans for the annual Tales of the Cocktail. The week-long conference celebrates all things in the cocktail and mixology world, with seminars and workshops, plus a bunch of raucous, after-hours pop-ups that spotlight talented teams. As much as a party it can be, the event is much more than a good time to imbibe. Ending the week of revelry, the conference closes with the Spirited Awards. For its 19th year, the annual award ceremony, held on July 24, honored excellence in the drink industry and recognized professionals, organizations and establishments that are shaping the hospitality community. This year, New York won big, nabbing one of the most coveted awards of the evening. This title of Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar award went to Shingo Gokan and Steve Schneider's bi-level cocktail bar, Sip & Guzzle. This is the second year in a row that a New York bar has received the honor, as last year's award went to Ignacio 'Nacho' Jimenez's rousing tequila and agave hotspot, Superbueno. This year's award winners thanked their team via Instagram. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sip&Guzzle (@sipandguzzlenyc) 'From a wild idea between Steve and Shingo — an odd couple with one shared dream — to now being named Best New U.S. Bar by the Spirited Awards! We are so honored and thankful for this recognition.' The post continued on, 'To our team: this win is yours. Your grit, creativity, and hustle made it all happen. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you.' This isn't the only accolade the West Village bar has accrued since its 2024 opening. Earlier this spring, the bar was listed on The World's Best list, 50 Best Bars in North America, debuting for the first time at number five. According to the publication, the bar was recognized for its 'Japanese beers, perfect highballs, and 'crushable' cocktails' at Guzzle and its 'sophisticated vibe' at Sip. We wholeheartedly agree, as the bar currently sits at number ten on our listing of the best bars in NYC, as we can't get enough of Sip's "precision-based cocktails" and Guzzle's rousing good time.

The hugely underrated foodie seaside town that is one of the best day trips from London
Everyone wants something different out of a day trip. There are the people that just want to lie horizontal on the beach for hours, the ones who want to stop by as many historic sites as possible, and the ones who will spend all their time collecting trinkets from indie shops and galleries. Then, there are the people that go to new places with just one thing on the agenda: good food. Of Time Out's 20 best places for a day trip from London in 2025, there's one place that stands out when it comes to outstanding bars and restaurants to rival those here in the capital. It's... Deal! And you can get there from St Pancras in just one hour and 20 minutes. In Time Out's guide to the town's best bits, travel writer and Deal local Kate Wicks said: 'Along the award-winning High Street, you'll find a wealth of independent shops, bars, and restaurants, but it's Deal's sedate (yet uplifting) atmosphere that remains its biggest draw. Ten miles from Dover, this is a town beside the sea, rather than a seaside town (for kiss-me-quick amusements, head to Margate): it's creative, classy and also happens to be one of the UK's top hidden foodie destinations.' Arrive hungry – Deal is full to the brim with exceptional grub. So much, in fact, that it's Time Out's favourite foodie getaway in the country. There's the classic fish 'n chips from Middle Street Fish Bar, the crab doughnuts at The Rose hotel, the French dishes at Cherub's, Japanese izakaya at The Blue Pelican, the organic wines at Le Pinardier wine bar, the swanky lunch at 81 Beach Street and the pig's head and haggis terrine at Frog & Scot. But there's only so much eating and drinking you can do. Kate also recommends wandering around the historic Deal Castle, filling your boots at Deal Town Market, seeing some art at Linden Hall Studio and spinning vinyl at Smuggler's Records. Make sure to go down to the seafront too, and look at for a grey seal or admire Deal's historic Victorian pier (which is getting a £1 million facelift next year).
