Reetika, one of the country's brightest hopes in the women's wrestling after becoming the first-ever female grappler to qualify in a heavyweight category (76kg) at the Paris Games, was tested by the Nada's dope control officers (DCOs) during a selection trial at the Indira Gandhi (IG) stadium here, where the national camp is currently underway.
After her positive dope result, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) told Reetika to leave the camp immediately and head back to her hometown in Haryana's Rohtak.
Reetika's suspension period has kicked off on July 7 after the revelation of adverse analytical finding (AAF) and she will now have to appear before the Nada's Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) to prove her innocence. Since this being her first doping offence, Reetika is staring at a possible four-year ban.
Based on doping failure, the United World Wrestling (UWW) - the sport's global governing body - also suspended Reetika for one year until July 7, 2026.
The UWW posted on its website: "Suspended for the following reason until July 7, 2026. Provisionally suspended for ADRV by Nado India."
The presence of banned substances in Reetika's urine sample is still unknown. The wrestlers was part of the Indian contingent for the upcoming UWW Ranking Series event in Hungary but her entry has now been withdrawn.
Reetika was touted as one of the medal contenders for India at the World Wrestling Championships, scheduled in September. She has recently won the gold medal at the Ulaanbaatar Ranking Series in May.

Air India tragedy: Crash report a ‘cover-up', say AI171 victims' kin
Air India crash (Picture credit: AP) LONDON: Relatives of flyers who died in the June 12 Air India crash have slammed the preliminary probe as a 'cover-up' to protect the Tatas-owned airline, Boeing and the Indian government. 'This report is wrong. We don't accept it,' said Ameen Siddiqui, whose British brother-in-law and Gloucestershire resident Akeel Nanabawa, died alongside his wife Hannaa Vorajee and their daughter Sara in the June 12 crash of the Ahmedabad-London flight. Speaking to the UK's The Telegraph from Surat, Siddiqui alleged that 'they want to blame dead pilots who can't defend themselves'. Siddiqui added that he had rejected Air India 's compensation offer and would take the airline to court for 'killing our family members'. UK law firms are already representing families of dozens of passengers who died in the AI 171 crash and considering legal action against Boeing and Air India. Tushar Joge, whose male cousin's in-laws, Vallabh Nagji Agheda and wife Vinaben Vallabh Agheda, both in their 70s, died in the crash, echoed the claim that the probe report was a 'cover-up' for Air India and Boeing. 'We were pre-empting that they would start blaming the pilots. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Lana Green Is Retiring - Her Final Jewelry Pieces Are 80% Off The Heritage Journal Read More Undo Why are they not looking for a mechanical fault? How qualified are the people in the Indian Air Accident Investigation Bureau? The FAA (US aviation regulator) gave an advisory in 2018 to check the potential disengagement of the fuel control switch locking feature. Shouldn't they have made this a mandatory requirement rather than an advisory?' Joge asked. The Agheda couple were coming to the UK to spend time with their youngest daughter and her family in Reading. Speaking to TOI from Vadodara, their son-in-law said: 'It does not look like it's the pilot's fault. It could be Boeing's design fault with the switches, or it could be Air India's maintenance issues. Most of the families believe it's a problem withthe aircraft. Air India is helping us with compensation but we are more concerned about getting the right report. We want the truth to make sure another disaster doesn't happen.' Imtiyaz Ali Syed, whose London-based brother Javed died with his wife and two children lamented that the probe report was replete with 'aviation jargon praising Boeing's systems' while saying 'nothing conclusive'. 'Everyone, Air India, Boeing, government, has something to protect. But we have lost our entire families. How can we move on without the truth?' Imtiyaz asked. Rafik, cousin of crash victim Faizan Rafik from Leicester, told the BBC he did not trust the Indian government. 'Until the airline provides the cockpit recording to us, I'm not going to believe the report,' Rafik said.

Amid uncertainty, FC Goa turn focus on ACL Two playoff
This will be the second time that FC Goa will feature in Asian competitions after their AFC Champions League debut in 2021 Panaji: For now, nobody knows the fate of the Indian Super League (ISL), which has been officially kept on hold for the season. But despite the uncertainty over the country's top-tier league, FC Goa have said they are committed to putting their 'best foot forward' for the crucial AFC Champions League Two playoff clash next month. Goa won the Super Cup last season to qualify for continental competitions. Amid the uncertainty, the single-leg ACL Two preliminary clash against Al Seeb has come early in the season – August 13 to be precise – leaving the club with little time for preparation. Questions were asked whether Goa would give the competition a miss. However, CEO Ravi Puskur said the club recognises its responsibility to represent the country on the continental stage. 'Withdrawing at this stage would not only invite significant sanctions but also leave a permanent stain on everything we've worked to build over the past decade,' Puskur told TOI on Sunday. 'That is not a message we are willing to send, to our players, our fans, or to Indian football at large.' Puskur, though, acknowledged that the prevailing uncertainty has severely hampered the team's preparations. 'The lack of clarity around the domestic calendar and broader structural issues have made it extremely challenging to plan effectively. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like الذهب يشهد ارتفاعًا قويًا في عام 2025 - المتداولون الأذكياء دخلوا السوق بالفعل. We will do everything in our capacity to set aside the distractions and focus on delivering a performance that brings value and pride to Indian football at the Asian level,' said Puskur. Should Goa cross the preliminary hurdle against Oman champions Al Seeb, they will move to the group stage where Cristiano Ronaldo 's Al-Nassr FC will be one of the participants. Goa have already completed their foreign quota for the season with all six players expected to arrive later this week to prepare for the playoff. The foreigners include Dejan Drazic, Borja Herrera, Iker Guarrotxena, Javier Siverio, David Timor and Pol Moreno. The ACL Two features the largest cast across the AFC's club competitions and the 2025-26 edition will see 29 sides -- 14 from the West and 15 from the East -- granted entry to the Group Stage, with six more teams to occupy the indirect slots and do battle in the Preliminary Stage. The winner of each Preliminary Stage tie will progress to the Group Stage, while the losing side will have to settle for a spot in the third-tier AFC Challenge League.
