Telangana govt integrating AI into TG-iPASS industrial system to enhance transparency, speed of approval
Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced the decision to integrate AI into the Telangana Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TG-iPASS) during an interaction with a delegation of French business representatives that met him at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 24, 2025). The AI integration is to enhance transparency and speed in clearances, he said, without elaborating further, as per a press release on the meeting from the Minister's office.
The State government statistics show that as many as 27,592 projects involving an investment of ₹3,02,330.96 crore were approved under TG-iPASS (TS-iPASS initially before the Telangana abbreviation changed to TG) from the time of launch in 2014-15. Of them, 24,920 are in the manufacturing sector and the remaining 2,667 in the Services sector. More than 1.89 lakh jobs are to be generated by the approved projects.
The approval system was one of the earliest and important policy measures decisions of the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS, then TRS) government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao that assumed office after the State was formed in 2014 and retained power for another term. Congress party that rode to power under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in 2023 had initially dropped hints of tweaking the approval system before introducing MSME Policy last year to bridge the gaps in TG-iPASS.
The latest announcement on integrating AI into the system assumes significance in the backdrop of the Congress government's emphasis on transforming the State into a hub for emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence by consolidating on Hyderabad's position as a magnet for IT firms. The Revanth Reddy-government is also conceiving a Future City, something that Mr .Sridhar Babu urged the French delegation members to explore for their investment and growth opportunities.
He urged the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) — which was behind the meeting on Tuesday (June 24, 2025) — and its member-companies to actively explore opportunities in Telangana's prestigious Future City project which is an upcoming 30,000-acre global innovation hub being developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. He highlighted that the project is aligned with the vision of the Chief Minister to position Telangana as a world leader in innovation, sustainability and advanced infrastructure, the Minister's office said.
'Telangana has emerged as a preferred investment destination, attracting [an additional] over ₹3 lakh crore in investments in the past 18 months. Last year alone, Hyderabad welcomed 70 new Global Capability Centres (GCCs), a reflection of the State's pro-business policies and governance model,' he said. Clean energy and green mobility, smart healthcare and digital governance, future-ready education, sustainable manufacturing and agri-innovation and emerging technologies are some of the areas in which the French businesses could consider investing in the State.
'Our collaboration with French enterprises goes beyond investments — it is about co-creating a sustainable and technology-driven future,' he told the delegation that included senior representatives from various companies. Some of the well known French firms, including Sanofi, Monin, Safran, Capgemini, Dassault, Teleperformance and Opella Healthcare already have a strong presence across sectors like aerospace, IT, pharmaceuticals and food processing, in the State.
The Minister emphasised on the importance of deepening Indo-French collaborations, while reiterating Telangana government's commitment to strengthen economic partnerships and facilitating seamless investments.

"Will have to cross that bridge when we come to it": Jaishankar on Lindsey Graham's Russian sanctions bill
Washington, DC [US], July 3 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday (local time) that the Indian embassy and ambassador have been in touch with US Senator Lindsey Graham regarding the bill on Russia and India will have to cross that bridge if it comes to it. While addressing a press conference, Jaishankar stated that India's concerns and interests on energy, security have been made conversant to Graham. When asked about US plans to impose 500 per cent tariffs on the import of Russian Oil, Jaishankar said, 'Regarding Senator Lindsey Graham's bill, any development which is happening in the US Congress is of interest to us if it impacts our interest or could impact our interest. So, we have been in touch with Senator Graham. The embassy, ambassador have been in touch. Our concerns and our interests on energy, security have been made conversant to him. So, we'll then have to cross that bridge when we come to it, if we come to it.' Graham's sanctions bill on Russia would impose a 500 per cent tariff on imports from any nation that purchases Russian oil, gas, uranium and other products, The Hill reported. The bill has over 80 co-sponsors in the Senate, potentially making it veto-proof. After the war erupted between Russia and Ukraine, the US and Western nations imposed sanctions on Moscow. However, India has continued to purchase Russian oil. Earlier in May, Lindsey Graham said he is in touch with US President Donald Trump regarding the bill. Republican lawmakers have indicated they are worried about moving the bill but are waiting for approval from Trump before bringing the legislation to the floor. When asked whether Trump is giving instructions on when the bill will come to the floor, Graham stated, 'We are separate entities coordinating with each other,' The Hill reported. Graham is proposing a carveout for his Russian sanctions bill to exclude nations that help Ukraine's defence, protecting them from a 500 per cent tariff for trading with Russia. (ANI)

"Doesn't even deserve to be in opposition": BJP MLA Mahesh Tenginkai slams Congress over Priyank Kharge's RSS remark
Hubbali (Karnataka) [India], July 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Mahesh Tenginkai slammed Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge over his recent statement to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the Congress does not even deserve to sit in the 'opposition' and that Kharge should think before making such a statement. The BJP MLA stated that his party will remain in power for the next 20 years and that no attention will be given to Priyank Kharge's statement. 'Priyank Kharge should think once. BJP is PM Narendra Modi's party, which will stay in power for 20 more years. Your party (Congress) will not be in power. It doesn't even deserve to be in is no need to give more attention to his statement', the BJP MLA said. Following Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge's statement of imposing a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the BJP has hit back at the Congress leader, stating that the minister is 'threatening bans' as he feels that the situation in the country is like the year 1975. The Karnataka unit of the BJP slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge through an 'X' post. Stating that Kalaburagi, which has been 'ruled' by Kharge for more than 50 years, remains one of the most 'underdeveloped' parts of Karnataka. 'Priyank Kharge, a minister only because of his father's influence, is now threatening bans like it's 1975 all over again. The Congress's alleged 'President/High Command' Mallikarjun Kharge ruled the Kalaburagi region for half a century. Yet it remains one of the most underdeveloped parts of Karnataka', the 'X' post said. Furthermore, the BJP stated that the both Priyank and Mallikarjun Kharge had so much to contribute towards the development of the state, but they spent their time 'chasing fantasies' like banning RSS. The 'X' post said that Priyank Kharge feels that he can distract the attention of Karnataka people by making such statements, but he has 'failed' in his attempt. 'Mini Kharge, along with his father, had so much to contribute but spent their time chasing fantasies like banning the RSS. And if he thinks making such statements will distract Kannadigas from the Multi Crore Housing Committee scam, he has failed. Just like he did in first PUC', the 'X' post said. Priyank Kharge on Tuesday slammed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over their General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's statement demanding reconsideration of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Alleging that the RSS wants to 'alter' the Indian Constitution, Kharge said that these are the same people who 'staged a protest when the constituent assembly debates were going on and burned the constitution'. Responding to recent remarks made by Hosabale, the Karnataka Minister said, 'Very clearly, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in his last speech has defined anti-nationals as those who create animosity by bringing in caste, and those people who are going to impede the social, political and economic progress of the country are the real anti-national. Those people who sow the seeds of communal hatred in society are anti-national. So who's doing that right now?...'. (ANI)

A lover's relationship: Kejriwal alleges secret nexus between Cong and BJP
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress during a party membership drive in Ahmedabad, alleging that the two major national parties are secretly working in tandem. Addressing the supporters, Kejriwal drew a provocative analogy, questioning the relationship between the two parties in Gujarat. He said, "What is the relationship between Congress and the BJP? Is it a brother-sister relationship or a husband-wife relationship? It is a lovers' relationship. They meet secretly due to the fear of society. Society does not accept their marriage." He accused both parties of being complicit in corruption and blamed their alleged collusion for decades of misgovernance. He said, "Stay away from them, they are very dangerous. Their rule lasted for 30 years because Congress was in their pocket. 70 per cent of contracts go to this party, 20 per cent of contracts go to that party. Both parties have opened their own companies. These people don't go to jail... Congress works for the BJP. Only Aam Aadmi Party serves the country." He positioned AAP as the genuine alternative in Indian politics, saying that the only AAP "serves the country." On Tuesday, while speaking to the media, Kejriwal hailed the party's victory in Gujarat's Visavadar by-election, saying it reflects the mood of Gujarat for a change. Kejriwal said, "In the Visavadar by-election, the overwhelming majority with which Aam Aadmi Party secured victory and defeated BJP shows the mood of Gujarat, that people are fed up with BJP, they are angry, and want change. Gujarat wants a change," Kejriwal said. The AAP Chief said that the victory was a response to the people's desire for an alternative to the BJP, which has ruled Gujarat for 30 years. "BJP ruled here for 30 years because there was no alternative; Congress was sitting in BJP's lap... Now people have found a good, honest, patriotic alternative. They have decided to bring the Aam Aadmi Party to power," Kejriwal claimed. On June 24, after winning the Visavadar Assembly bye-election by 17,554 votes, AAP leader Gopal Italia credited victory to public support, called it a historic result against the BJP's efforts, and highlighted growing faith in AAP leadership in Gujarat. The Visavadar seat fell vacant after Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai resigned. Visavadar assembly constituency is part of Junagadh district and a segment of Junagadh Lok Sabha constituency. The party had fielded Gopal Italia, a former Gujarat party chief, as its candidate for the Visavadar Assembly bypolls. The AAP party workers celebrated the election results in Gujarat, as Gopal Italia defeated BJP's Kirit Patel by 17,554 votes, garnering 75,942 votes in total.
