Nellore Bara Shaheed Dargah to get Rs five crore facelift
Narayana highlighted the historical significance of Bara Shaheed Dargah, and revealed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sanctioned Rs 5 crore specifically for the development of the dargah.
'Using these funds, we will construct a large prayer hall that can accommodate 20,000 devotees at once,' he said, adding that the project will be taken up under the supervision of NUDA (Nellore Urban Development Authority).
He instructed municipal officials to coordinate with the Joint Collector to ensure all required arrangements for devotees are completed on time.
Narayana expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in painting works at key urban locations. The Maud Minister directed officials to complete all painting works in the city within 45 days.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy appreciated Narayana's efforts in securing Rs 5 crore for the Dargah's development.
He revealed that under the leadership of State Waqf Board Chairman Abdul Aziz, the prayer hall design has been finalised and construction will soon begin.
NUDA Chairman Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy assured that the tender process will be completed soon.

Andhra Pradesh government restores pensions for 1,575 landless families in Amaravati
Vijayawada: The state government has decided to restore welfare pensions to around 1,575 landless poor families in Amaravati, the capital city area. This decision follows a resolution passed by the CRDA (Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority) governing council, chaired recently by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu . Each family will receive a monthly pension of Rs 2,500 until further notice. "The government has authorised the Commissioner, APCRDA, to extend the benefit of the landless poor pension to 1,575 families as per the original household survey conducted in 2015. These families were initially granted the benefit but were later excluded based on income limits and six-step validation. The government has now decided to restore the pension as a special case, considering the unique circumstances under which these families lost their livelihoods due to the establishment of the Capital City and land acquisition by the APCRDA," said S Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD). He explained that the CRDA, at its recent meeting, resolved to restore the Amaravati landless poor pension starting January 2025, based on the original 2015 household survey. Following this, the CRDA Commissioner requested that the benefit be extended to the 1,575 families who were previously included in the scheme. In 2015, soon after the announcement of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), the state government granted a welfare pension of Rs 2,500 to approximately 23,500 families in the capital city area. The scheme was designed to support landless poor families who lost employment due to the acquisition of agricultural land for capital city development. The Guntur District Collector determined the landless status based on a household survey, white ration card (BPL status), and residential proof in Amaravati. However, during the YSRCP government's tenure, 1,575 families were removed from the pension list following a six-step verification process, which classified them as above the poverty line. Now, the Naidu-led NDA government has decided to continue the pension, regardless of income status. Notably, the original government decision in 2015 stated that both the landless poor pension and the LPS annuity would be provided only for ten years, which would have ended in July 2025. However, due to the delay in completing the capital city construction, the government has opted to extend both schemes. The landless poor pension will cost the government Rs 70–80 crore, while the LPS annuity requires an annual outlay of about Rs 160 crore for around 18,000 farmers in Amaravati.

CM: Power projects with 1 lakh cr investment underway in Arunachal
1 2 New Delhi: Multiple hydro-power projects with an investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore are underway in Arunachal Pradesh to produce 18,000 MW of power, chief minister Pema Khandu has said. Five of these projects of 2,620 MW have been allocated by the state govt to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), five projects of 5,097 MW to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN) and two projects with a capacity of 3,800 MW to the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. "As of now, on the ground, the work for generating a total of 18,000 MW of hydro-power is on. In the coming days, we will add more projects. All these projects involved more than Rs 1 lakh crore investment," Khandu told PTI in an interview here. He said these projects were earlier allotted to private sector developers but remained non-starters due to various reasons. Arunachal Pradesh govt, therefore, decided to rope in central hydro PSUs to give a push to the languishing projects. "Besides these, there are some ongoing projects like the Lower Subansiri hydro-electric project of 2,000 MW. It will start generating power from next year. There is one more project which is even bigger than the Lower Subansiri — that will produce 2880 MW power. Work on this project has also started," he said. Once operational, the Lower Subansiri hydro-power project will be the biggest hydropower plant of India. After that, the proposed 2,880 MW Dibang multipurpose hydroelectric project is expected to be commissioned in 2032. It will also have the tallest dam in India with a height of about 288 metres. PTI

HC questions irregularities in preparing DPRs of Cuttack drain project
1 2 Cuttack: Orissa high court has taken serious note of irregularities in the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) related to the Rs 335.42 crore branch surface water channel (BSWC) drain project in Cuttack. A division bench of Justices S K Sahoo and V Narasingh, while hearing the matter on July 11, came down heavily on the housing and urban development department and noted with concern that the DPRs submitted by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) were neither authenticated nor bore the names of officials involved in their preparation. The court termed the lapses as "startling". The bench also questioned how a Bhubaneswar-based private consultancy firm came to represent the city engineer (CMC) during a crucial meeting held on April 30. "There is nothing on record to indicate how the private company could represent a govt official," the court observed. The matter pertains to the proposed construction of five BSWC drains in the city. Despite a decision taken in Dec 2023 to consult IIT Bhubaneswar for an expert review of the DPRs, the documents were sent instead to VSSUT. The shift was based on a communication dated June 17 this year from the firm. "It does not stand to reason how the govt's direction to consult IIT Bhubaneswar, keeping in mind the hydraulic analysis required, was ignored," the bench stated. When questioned by the court, the engineer assured the revised DPRs would be submitted by July 25. However, the judges noted the absence of any explanation as to why the firm was involved and why the IIT's expertise was bypassed.
