Warning illegal bikes will be 'seized and destroyed' after rider caught by police

Yahoo27-07-2025
AN illegal bike was seized for being ridden antisocially and having no insurance after being spotted by police.
Whilst conducting proactive patrols of the Rhymney area, Gwent Police officers saw this illegal bike being ridden on the road and on the pavements, posing a risk to pedestrians and other road users.
Unfortunately for the rider, they got stuck between some metal railings and did not see the approaching unmarked police vehicle. Officers were able to take hold of the bike and it was seized for having no insurance.
Gwent Police said: "The message and law is simple - these bikes are not to be used on the road or pavements, regardless of what excuse you come up with at the road side. They are NOT road legal and if stopped by police, they will be seized and destroyed.
"We get numerous reports regarding the negative impact these bikes have on our communities and we will continue to take a robust approach."
