The video was shared on Instagram one day ago by content creator Jai Punjabi, who interviewed several locals in Gujarat. At the beginning of each interview, he candidly admitted that he did not speak or understand Gujarati despite living in Gujarat.
In each case, the local being interviewed happily agreed to speak in Hindi.
How Gujaratis reacted to a Hindi-speaking outsider
'Main Gujarat mein reh raha hun, par mujhe Gujarati nahi aati (I live in Gujarat but I don't know Gujarati),' Jai told one person, who chuckled and replied: 'Toh reh rahe ho na? Idhar koi dikkat hai? Shanti se raho aur rehne do (So you're living, right? You don't have any problems here, do you? Just live and let live).'

Another person speaking halting in Hindi, told Jai that it is the duty of Gujaratis to make their guests feel welcome, even if they don't speak the language of the state. Perhaps the most thoughtful reflection on the language issue came from an auto rickshaw driver who said, 'Dekho, desh toh ek hi hai. India hai. Language alag alag hai. Par bolo prem se toh baat ek hi hai (Look, it's one country – India. Our languages are different. But if you speak with love, all languages will convey the same thing).'

The video has gone viral with more than 15 million views and 1 million 'likes' in one day.
In the comments section, people were full of praise for Gujaratis.
'The auto wale bhaiya in Gujarat has more common sense than an average (educated) gunda from Karnataka or Maharashtra,' wrote one commenter.
'Gujarat - safest place in India,' another said. Speaking from personal experience, an Instagram user wrote, 'I have lived in Gujarat for 7+ years, never faced a language issue'.

Maalik had an underwhelming start at the box office on Friday, minting Rs 3.75 crore. However, thanks to positive word-of-mouth, the film saw a 40 percent jump in its collection on Saturday, raking in Rs 5.25 crore. The film tried to maintain the same momentum on Sunday and earned Rs 5.09 crore, which was a 3 percent drop from Saturday's collection. Maalik had an overall 20.77 percent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, with the maximum occupancy of 29.79 percent seen in evening shows. The film saw a 22.81% occupancy at night. Morning and afternoon slots were slower, at 8.05% and 22.43% respectively. Maalik is facing major competition from the multi-starrer Metro… In Dino. The Anurag Basu directorial minted Rs 4.75 crore on its second Sunday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 38.55 crore. However, Ankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan has failed to make a mark at the box office, minting Rs 41 lakh on Sunday and earning Rs 1.2 crore within the first three days of release. Before Maalik, Rajkummar had delivered Bhool Chuk Maaf. The film performed better than Maalik and collected Rs 28 crore within the first three days of release, far more than Maalik's Rs 14.1 crore. In fact, Rajkummar's last flop film – Mr & Mrs Mahi – earned more than Maalik, minting Rs 16.85 crore within the same timeframe.

Superman box office collection day 4: David Corenswet's reboot earns Rs 25.50 cr in India, beats Man of Steel's US opening
James Gunn's new iteration of Superman, starring David Corenswet as the titular superhero, has finally given DC a long-awaited hit. It became the first DC title to surpass $100 million in its opening weekend since Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman in 2017. With its $122 million opening in North America, Superman has also surpassed Zack Snyder's 2013 reboot Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, which fetched an opening of $116 million. However, it remains far behind the $166 million launch for Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. Superman is DC's first success after a streak of flops, including Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux last year, Andres Muschietti's The Flash (2023), and David F Sandberg's Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023). Superman is intended as a new start. It's the first release fully steered by Gunn and Peter Safran, co-heads of DC Studios, as part of their new DC Universe. Superman has also allowed Warner Bros to continue its roll at the box office. After duds like George Miller's Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga last year, Warner Bros has maintained its stronghold this year with A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, Final Destination Bloodlines, and F1, all of which, along with Superman, opened above $45 million in the US. With its opening weekend collection in India, Superman has surpassed that of the major Hindi release this week, Pulkit's action drama Maalik, starring Rajkummar Rao, which collected Rs 14.25 crore over the opening weekend. For the third time in a month, a Hollywood release has beaten its Bollywood counterpart at the Indian box office. Last month, Brad Pitt's F1 surpassed Kajol-starrer Maa, whereas earlier this month, Scarlett Johansson-starrer Jurassic World Rebirth opened bigger than Sara Ali Khan-starrer Metro… In Dino. Hyderabad: Kota Srinivasa Rao, who acted in 700+ films across languages; passes away at 83
HYDERABAD: Veteran Telugu actor and former BJP MLA Kota Srinivasa Rao, known for his highly acclaimed performances, passed away in the city due to age-related ailments on Sunday. He was 83. Rao, who acted in about 750 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi in a career spanning more than four decades, breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday at his home.
