Travon Walker's projected 2026 contract after Jaguars' exercise 5th year option
The Jacksonville Jaguars have picked up the fifth-year option for defensive end Travon Walker for 2026. So what does Walker's projected contract for that season now look like?
The contracts that are associated with fifth-year options are not negotiated. Instead, they are pre-determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and take into account a player's position, the amount of playing time they've had, and if they've made a Pro Bowl.
According to Over the Cap, they are projecting that Walker's deal for the 2026 season will be worth $14.751 million. This contract amount is fully guaranteed as well, so whatever Walker's contract amount is will also be his salary cap hit.
Now, just because this option was exercised by the Jaguars, a contract extension for Walker that goes beyond the 2026 season can still be negotiated and agreed to if that's how things unfold.
Liam Coen mentioned last week at the NFL league meetings that "open conversations" with Walker about an extension have taken place.
'We're having open conversations, and at the end of the day, we'll continue to have those," Coen said via the Florida Times Union.
For the 2025 season, the final year of Walker's rookie deal, his current contract will remain unchanged. The fifth-year option will go into effect for the 2026 season unless an extension is reached beforehand.

He's about to "sabotage'' his new team "from the inside.'' Yes, this sounds like a dopey plot from a crummy spy movie. And frankly? It all is sort of "dopey'' and "crummy.'' As the Cowboys work to remodel their offensive line, one guy out the door is Edoga, the 6-3, 315-pound former third-round pick of the New York Jets. Edoga was a starter there in his rookie season of 2019 but then faded. At the same time, the Cowboys scouting department always liked him, a took a stab at trading for him at one time. But then he joined Dallas via free agency in 2023 and ended up doing his job; Edoga ended up making five starts while playing all 17 games in that first Cowboys season. Last year, injuries rendered him mostly a non-factor. Advertisement And yet after two seasons with the Cowboys, the veteran offensive guard hooked on with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a two-year, $7 million contract near the beginning of this offseason's free agency window. Good for him, right? Not to our pals at fan site SportDFW, where they are not only roasting poor Edoga but are also launching conspiracy theories about him. They predict that his deal will "age ugly'' and that Edoga "is on track to sabotage his new team from the inside.'' We get "age ugly.'' "We don't get "on track to sabotage his new team from the inside.'' There is no devious plot here. Nor is there evidence that Edoga is some sort of a bad egg. He is projected to be a backup offensive lineman in Jacksonville, where he will continue to carve out a nice life for himself while going unnoticed, as backup offensive linemen in Jacksonville tend to do.
